    Youkilis had a bad season, but if it was a Youk fluke then the contract could pay extreme dividends. High risk, high reward. I personally think he'll rebound and I'd be happy with a 2 year deal. I think his 7 seasons of elite play are much more than what Plouffe has "proven" in a few months.

    I'd be willing to go up to 8 mil for Youk. Maybe even a 2 year since it doesn't look like we'll have much over there for a while.

    They weren't comfortable playing him in fall call-ups when he most certainly could have been given a chance. They clearly don't think he's ready. Why would they start him next season? If we don't see any outfielders traded there is at least 6 of them they would be comfortable playing before Hicks.

    The best teams generally have the best pitching. There is really no way around it. Team ERA Leaders (1-10): 1 Tampa Bay (90-72) 2 LA Dodgers (86-76) 3 Washington (98-64) 4 Cincinnati (97-65) 5 Atlanta (94-68) 6 Oakland (94-68) 7 San Francisco (94-68) 8 St. Louis (88-74) 9 Detroit (88-74) 10 Seattle (75-87) Seattle is the only team that isn't good and they are 10th anyway. The Yankees (12th), Baltimore (14th), Texas (16th), and Angels (18th) are all good teams, but they at least have average pitching. I think an argument can be made that pitching is a lot more important to team success in the NL than the AL. Nearly every team in the postseason has a great staff and because of this the illusion becomes that the 'best' one will win every year. My opinion is that you have to be very lucky or have a good 1-3 to reach the WS (not necessarily the best). Both teams this season have excellent pitchers and that's a good example and support for this.

    Contrary to the Washington Post bias, LaRoche is not 'legitimately good'. They are none on the free agent market.

    I'm worried he becomes elite again. That's why I'd wait more time until the trade deadline to make up our minds. It's pretty hard to imagine that his value can get lower.

    I wouldn't mind if they signed him to be honest. I don't really dislike him, but missing out on the draft pick and overpaying was a big mistake. It was even more apparent when he sat out for the majority of the season.

    Best comment I've seen in a while. Agree 100%. Maybe the declining attendance and therefore worse marketing is a result of the terrible team?

    They have a great pitching squad. That's what does it in the playoffs. Cain, Vogelsong, and Bumgartner are all elite pitchers.

    I highly agree with this. I'd rather see a deal for Willingham being made. He's not as valuable, but teams may be willing to offer just as much as Span would fetch.

    There is little to no chance the Twins could make a good return for Joe Mauer. You just can't reasonably expect to have a good chance at receiving an all star prospect in return. He's the 2nd best catcher in the MLB and the cornerstone they likely plan to build around. No surprise and not disappointing for me. If Ryan trades him, I think Target Field gets burnt down by crazedTwins fans and 18> Year Old Girls.

    I'd really like to see a professional team full of "clubhouse cancers" one of these days....actually an argument could be made for the New York Jets. Ok I really mean a successful team full of cancer. Maybe I just like the idea of 10+ wrongs making a right.

    I will be thrilled if someone is trade for a plethora of (good) prospects. Josh Willingham is at the top of the list. I advocate him over Span.

    Arcia is already on the 40 man. Hicks has to before November 20th. Otherwise he's up for selection in the rule V draft.

    Mauer is fine, but if the Twins want to get their money's worth they need to move him to #2 in the lineup. Mauer himself needs to get his defense fixed. I'd really like for him to get back to the best catcher in baseball as the title currently belongs to Posey.

    3 reasons. 1. I hate the Yankees. Jeter is their Cap'n. Makes sense. 2. A little jealousy. Jeter is the guy in high school who is better than you at everything. Now do I believe that?....Yes, but he tries to be perfect, nobody is, and the media makes him out to be. 3. Overrated. Jeter has never been the best player in the MLB in any season he's ever played. He's good, but people treat him like he's the best player of his generation and he's never been that dominant. Move him from SS where he's not that great defensively anyway and his offensive numbers are no where near as special

    It would be something to consider if we didn't have Josh Willingham and one of Morneau/Parmelee. Ross is a true rightfielder and thankfully he would play there unlike Josh. I really like Ross, but there's no chance he ends up here. None of our priorities and none of his priorities match.

    I think Silver Slugger tends to weigh batting average heavy and Hank Aaron weighs power heavy.

    This is an award Mauer will never win. Generally this goes to players with lots of home runs and rbi. Granted, he should have won this in 2009 over Derek Jeter.

    I think Andy should have been let go. The re-assignment thing is really ridiculous. Get the guys out of the clubhouse. Vavra and Gardy would be the only 2 coaches I'd keep.
