  1. Would still prefer 2-3 years of Kazmir and 1-2 of Josh Johnson. This will save money(shorter term contracts) and not block the pitchers coming up. If you want to spend major money throw it a Garza(at least he has a high upside and no qualifying offer)
  2. If Liriano keeps throwing sliders, he is a major candidate for another arm injury. Escobar may turn out to be an OK utility player, getting something was better than nothing because Liriano was not coming back here. It was the Hardy trade(Bill Smith and perhaps Gardy not likely him) that made no sense.
  3. Go for it. Just do not think it will happen.
  4. I would prefer Josh Johnson, but Kazmir is a second choice as long as it is not more than a 2 year contract.
  5. I am OK with Nolasco as long as he is our second best pitcher signed, not the "ace"
  6. Not a big loss, he was/is going to be in AAA at least for the Twins.
  7. Would only want it if we could sign Samardzija to an extension, otherwise he is a two year rental, not worth the price. Rosario is still unproven though likely and the others are expendable, but would not give up Dozier for a two year rental.
  8. I feel the most damning point on Rick Anderson was Liarano, who the Pirates fixed. That to me is a major black mark. The only point would be if he was throwing the same mix as 2006 and a walking arm injury to ending his career. I do not know that answer.
  9. I agree that spending on FA pitching on 1-3 year contracts is best. 2 would be the number and I also would add dollars to get the 1-2 year reclaimation projects to come here. Kazmir I would risk 3 only if I had to, Johnson 1 year with an option hopefully, Johan if it comes to that 1 year with an option. Twins need to put people in seats and give the fans hope, some signings will take care of that. And as stated above signings of no greater than 3 years do not block any pitchers.
  10. Good list, I am higher on Kazmir and lower on Jimmenez and Haren(do not want) and also Hughes.
  11. I having been hoping they sign Kazmir. There are many other pitchers not to take a chance on, he is worth it. Might go even a little over $10 million a year if only 2 years are guaranteed. Would like a third year club option, but might not be doable.
  12. You are talking about the best SS in the game currently Yes, he is that good.
  13. If you think Poland is going to approve a $75 million posting fee and 12-15 million a year, then it won't happen and don't be disappointed it did not.
  14. Depends on money and length. Arroyo would not be horrible for 2 years, more would be terrible. It might not work out, but look at last year's FA crop of pitchers, very few of them worked out. If you want to take chances I would rather have Johnson, Lewis, Vogelsong, Halliday or any number of that type, because the contract is 1 year. Once to get to 3 years for pitchers over 30 there is too much risk and too little reward. Some of those above might not work out, but all in my mind are worth a chance if the price is right(Hoping for Johnson and one of the others or Kazmir). Then the third signing is not as important.
  15. M guess is that the Rockies would want both Miller and Tarvares to even start taking about Tulo.
  16. I am fine with Johnson and Kazmir on 2 year deals. Anything more and you may be blocking the young pitchers coming up. I am scared of Arroyo as this is the American league and he will have few 8 and 9 hitters to pitch to after pitching around the guy or 2 above them.
  17. Will be happy to see another front line type pitcher being taken by the Twins at #5. If all three are gone it means the Twins will get a very good hitter(hopefully not an outfielder).
  18. Maybe a catcher for 1 or 2 years, but Twins have more pressing problems and I would rather the money be spent there(starting pitching)
  19. It is for the best. Probably means that both Pinto and Herrmann make the club if the Twins do not sign a veteran catcher. Also probably means the Collabello and Parmelee do not. Twins may have to trade Doumit if they want to keep Collabello. Expect Willingham, Pressley, and Arcia to be the Twins OF with Mastro as the fourth outfielder to start. When Willingham is traded than Sano will come out and Plouffe could platoon in right with Arcia moving to left. Team will have many changes next year.
  20. Agree if you can find one for the correct price. I would rather spend the extra money on pitching and hope that Sano can arrive by midyear and push Plouffe to RF or 1B parttime. I see neither Colabello or Parmelee as an answer for the Twins except as a backup(shortterm)
  21. Looks reasonable, would pick different pitchers (Johnson and Kazmir) but outlook is much the same. Deduno could also make it. Pelfrey not bad depending on price, but I would not sign him. Lineup looks about as predicted.
  22. good buy low article, not a lot of upside. Johan will probably get too much and would not want Crain, rest are reasonable. Would like Johnson and the Japanese pitcher, but the later will probably cost too much. Kazmir could be a winner, but a chance. Like him more than the others to go with Johnson. Taking one flyer should be done.
  23. Twins should take the BPA in every draft. If that is a shortstop, so much the better. Twins have little depth there and Santana is no sure thing.
  24. Two I see on the list are Brian McCann and Stephen Drew. Both clubs (Boston and Atlanta) do not care if the player accepts the offer.
  25. Great job and interesting. On trades if you give up pitching it is from single A and under. I Would not give up any pitching as the Twins need all they can get.
