  1. Because it is on fox sports 1 so it is a combined crew. No Dick Bremer tonight ... I'm celebrating.
  2. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino · 9m Response minutes ago from @MLBazFallLeague spokesman Paul Jensen on Nick Burdi: "Speculation. The Twins still owe us one pitcher." Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino · 7m Person with direct knowledge tells me #mntwins "changed their mind" on Nick Burdi as final AFL pick. Hence the online confusion. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino · 4m And before everyone jumps to the wrong conclusion, I'm told Nick Burdi is completely healthy. 5 scoreless outings since jump to Ft. Myers
  3. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino · 50s Nick Burdi is NOT official as the seventh and final #MNTwins AFLer. Still being debated internally, I'm told.
  4. Does the failure to announce have anything to do with his only being at A+? Aren't there some qualifications on numbers below AA and AAA? Seems weird that he'd be on the roster, though and yet Twins wouldn't announce.
  5. Partial proof of that is, I think, in the relatively small amount of hand-wringing there has been over the Nolasco situation. He may come back and provide decent value on that contract. He may not and most of the dollars paid him may be lost. But for the most part people have been pretty rational about what happens.

    Gush (v 12.0)

Senior year will be a rush (and gush) for her. And hurry by for you ... and then there will be next year. Life goes on.
  7. That deluge was over quickly though. Looked down and it was hard to even see the pitcher. Looked up and fans were moving down to the lower seats and it looked almost like it wasn't raining.
  8. Well, mercifully that's over.
  9. Dustin Morse ‏@Twins_morsecode · 12m 114 hits (and counting) in this series. #MNTwins #Tigers Not exactly a defensive showcase.
  10. Seems like cruel and unusual punishment to try to finish this off. Geez that rain looks hard.
  11. I slept from 4-2 to 10-4. All in all a good use of the afternoon.
  12. That's when they need the Ice Bucket Challenge!
  13. At the moment? A mess. And I'm still blaming their group Zubaz pants roadtrip.
  14. Is ChiTown designated to herd the drinking crew?
  15. Sorry, I have a good time, though! Got stuff I have to be around here for.
  16. But which one of you failed to stop that HR???
  17. You know, I think the Ice Bucket challenge is a great fundraiser and a real phenomenon .... but I'm waiting for the people who accept it when its 0 degrees.
  18. Too darn muggy to think about football today. But I'll put in a for my Hawkeyes.
  19. But is he learning from it? Is he better off being up and pitching and working through this now rather than next season. I think that's the part that is hard to answer. The season is lost anyway. Aren't we better off "testing the waters" on some of these guys. Was Kyle Gibson better off for getting to pitch a little at the mlb level last year?
  20. Thanks so much for posting this. In a way this highlights one of the things I've mentioned about Jack Goin. I have to think that starting out as an intern and working his way up to God of Statistical Analysis in the organization (or whatever his title is) is beneficial to him. He has worked with the Twins on-field management and front office long enough that he should be able to gauge what approaches might work with them and where he can best introduce change. He might be shocked by the reception he'd get from a different on-field manager team but I do think he probably has the background to do the best he can with the people currently in the positions.
  21. The thing is, that you could cut it in 1/2 and he'd still be a pretty good pick-up. The accuracy of the actual numbers don't mean that much -- it is all just saying that this was a good signing.
  22. Andrew Walter ‏@MNfanfromafar · 14h FWIW, @fangraphs has Phil Hughes' 2014 value at $25.9 million w/ a month to go. His 3 year contract pays $24M total. Pretty. Good. Value.
  23. Failure to advance in the playoffs is FAILURE. We're not talking mixed results here -- we are talking a failure to EVER advance in the playoffs after 2002, And frankly, it wasn't even close. So, yes, all those playoff losses have a pretty negative impact on the "happy effect" of the regular season victories.
