  1. I like Dorsey's memory timeline: http://www.news-press.com/story/sports/2015/02/18/dorsey-reflects-touring-hammond-stadium-changes/23628625/
  2. Okay, Pete is forgiven. I still don't want him in the Hall. PED's users either including Andy Petitte. And the Yankees are insane to retire all these numbers.
  3. Well, it is mostly taxpayer money so I see keeping the contract local. C'mon Bill Smith, get in there and get this finished.
  4. No,it was my fault for putting it in the minor league forum. I just never know where to put these stories about minor leaguers or little league. It's not MLB but it isn't Twins milb. All the replies are here and the threads were really similar.
  5. You must follow way different ones than I do because I rarely see anything controversial. Mostly I see winter workouts, baby pictures, dog pictures, wife/girlfriend pictures, hunting pictures (Dozier hunts way too much), grilling meat tweets and a lot of music tweets esp. from Trevor May. Nothing offensive and I enjoy the baby and dog pictures alot and they all seem to have attractive, appropriately dressed wives/girlfriends. (Off topic, sorry.)
  6. Thanks for reminding me to make a change,
  7. I want to see where the Twins stand on May 3 after 22 of 25 against the Central (barring bad weather). If they are somewhere in the vicinity of .500, I'll feel like it's a pretty good start. And until then, I'm going to be optimistic because I have no power over the front office and frankly, I'd rather see the sunny side than watch for storm clouds..
  8. Andrew McCutchen has a fabulous piece on the difficulties of getting noticed if you are from a lower income bracket. The story is a bit about Jackie Robinson West being stripped of the little league title but it is more of a personal account of moving up the travel ranks and getting noticed. It touches on so many things we've talked about -- minor league pay, minority participation and more. Interesting perspective. Give it a read. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/left-out/
  9. Derek Wetmore's take on Torii: http://m.1500espn.com/pages/sportswire.php?sID=12851
  10. Since it doesn't deal with Twins prospects, I don't know if this is the right forum but I found Neyer's column interesting. Prospects don't always turn out the way you anticipate. OTOH, if your system is deep, it should turn out ok anyway. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/top-prospects-lists-scouting-uncertainty-021115
  11. Spring is for optimism. There will be plenty of time for pessimism later on if need be. But for now, you gotta believe.
  12. Deepest sympathy on your loss. What a wonderful legacy of memories you and your grandfather shared. Thank you for sharing some of them with us,
  13. Hicks and Nolasco. Might as well dream big.
  14. From Bob Nightengale: The #Tigers get encouraging news: Victor Martinez will be out only 4-6 weeks, and not months, after surgery today. 2:12pm - 10 Feb 15 Good news for the Tigers if it works out that way.
  15. There is no predictability with this team -- and no use worrying about it. Too many young guys who could regress or who could be on an upward learning curve. Too many guys who may have been injured who may - or may not - show improvement. Too many older guys who may - or may not regress (in a bad way). Que Sera Sera ,,,, Just enjoy it.
  16. MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors · 3h3 hours ago Padres Planning Aggressive Pursuit Of Yoan Moncada http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/?p=46860 Not resting on their laurels.
  17. Morrie Silver ‏@MorrieSilver8 · 6m6 minutes ago @LaVelleNeal @nater79a He would probably be there either way. Hicks is one of the hardest workers. One of the first to the ballpark everyday Interesting observation but who is this 27 yo and does he really have a connection to the Red Wings other than taking the name of the guy who worked to keep rhe Wings in Rochester and served as their president?
  18. LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal · 8m8 minutes ago Aaron Hicks arrives in Fort Myers on Wed. for final preparations before spring training. Torii Hunter is already there, waiting for him.
  19. The problem is that it is always harder to take something out than add it. But I agree. Plus we might eventually come to enjoy "God Bless America" again (in other contexts.) BTW. what do they do in Toronto?
  20. Reusse has a nice piece up on Neil Allen. Very personal but there were a few nuggets about pitching. “I wasn’t very old when he taught me how to grip a curveball,” Allen said. “That turned out to be my best pitch. My dad would sit in the dugout and help coach during games. He couldn’t see, but he could hear. If he wasn’t hearing the ball hit the catcher’s mitt on time, he would shout, ‘Tempo.’ “He thought it was very important for a pitcher to work at a good pace.” We hope you have your dad's philosophy on that! Neil Allen squinted into the sun. He looked at a few early arrivals for spring training on a nearby ballfield. He took a deep breath of cool morning air. “So here I am,” he said. “Can’t wait to get started.” Neither can we! http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/291166481.html?page=1&c=y
  21. He won't be 24 until May 9 - just have to keep remembering that. He can turn the corner a little slowly if he needs to. Sometimes I wish we could blend the emotional players with the stoic ones.
  22. "I'm trying to be more selective at the plate. That's really the only thing the Twins emphasized," Arcia said in Spanish. "They stressed being more selective, but not to lose my aggressiveness in the batter's box. It's no secret that the Venezuelan league is good, and it's allowed me to see some good quality pitching." ,,,,,,,,,,, "I know he had a difficult year defensively in right, and that's not normal for him. He's a better outfielder than he's shown up here," Ryan said. "Some of that might have been, I don't know if he got intimidated by that overhang or just had trouble reading it. So we think he'll be better in left just because of that fact alone. But he's starting to get his feet on the ground up here. We just have to remind ourselves he's just a kid still. He has outfield skills, and there's no reason he can't become a solid defender." http://m.twins.mlb.com/news/article/108616334/twins-outfielder-oswaldo-arcias-refined-plate-approach-already-paying-off
  23. Sorry, I should have said its a 2014 photo.
  24. Sano and Vargas make Mauer look like a boy. No power? No wonder. Not that Joe doesn't look ripped.
  25. And Daniel Ortiz hit a walk off double for Puerto Rico.
