  1. Might be better to plan for it rather than stumble into it by accident or necessity.
  2. Well, Twins 1/2 of the first flew by.
  3. And another one bites the dust (at least for 6 weeks): Mark Feinsand ‏@FeinsandNYDN 1h Cashman said Tanaka has seen three doctors - Ahmad, Altcheck and one more. All three diagnose a partially torn ligament in throwing arm. Mark Feinsand ‏@FeinsandNYDN 1h One PRP injection and throwing program has been recommended. It's considered a small ligament tear for Tanaka. TJ surgery not ruled out. Daniel Barbarisi ‏@DanBarbarisi 1h Cashman says if rehab goes well, tanaka could be back on mound in 6 weeks. Mark Feinsand ‏@FeinsandNYDN 1h Cashman said it's Tanaka's UCL. Mark Feinsand ‏@FeinsandNYDN 1h Cashman said the tear in Tanaka's ligament is a new injury. It was not there on the January MRI before he signed his $155 million deal. Sweeny Murti ‏@YankeesWFAN 57m To clarify, Cashman said surgery "could become an option" if rehab does not work. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 49m Even if Tanaka completes successful rehab in 6 weeks, per reports, he'd then have to rebuild arm strength. Barely any season left. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 12m PRP has had some therapeutic success, but serious doubts persist about its overall effectiveness rate with UCL injuries. Here's a little story from mlb trade rumors: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/masahiro-tanaka-has-torn-ulnar-collateral-ligament.html Twins aren't the only ones to try conservative treatment first. Wonder what the odds are that he'll need TJ??

    A Tale of Two Gibsons

Hopefully, Gibson can improve on these results as he continues to learn and grow. He’ll need to learn how to pitch when his best stuff just isn’t with him – even Kevin Correia and Ricky Nolasco can turn in quality outings when their command is evading them. I wonder if last night wasn't part of that learning process. Len 3 tweeted: LaVelle E. Neal III @LaVelleNeal · 20h Gibson was solid but not spectacular. Failure to throw strike one kept him from pitching deeper in game. So even though he apparently didn't have his best stuff, he perservered. Thanks for all the analysis. It'll be interesting to follow this the rest of the season.
  5. Not a Twins fact: Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 11m Since Yadier Molina became a regular catcher, the Cardinals have allowed 240 fewer stolen bases than any other team. But wow, just wow.
  6. I voted my fingers off. Glad he decided to participate in the HR derby but I really him to win that final vote.
  7. I'm generally a shower person but I occasionally like a soak in the tub. But when I'm done with the soak, I have to take a shower.
  8. They do until you take into account that he started pretty slowly when he was first sent down. They don't put splits on baseball reference for minor leagues (that I can find anyway) but just from paying attention to what the sportswriters have been saying, it seems to me that there has been a nice improvement over the last week or two. I think we have to see where this trends before concluding that he is just "treading water".
  9. Thanks for all your work! Looking forward to seeing the new site.
  10. Please be careful about enlarging them too much. That's part of my complaint -- there is just so much variation from site-to-site. I actually like the size they are now. Larger on headlines or something? Fine. I don't think I'd want to see much enlargement in the bodies of articles. But I do appreciate cleanliness on fonts and the size now is really comfortable.
  11. Brock, Part of it for me is the whole font size problem (that we've talked about before). If you sent a zoom size that keeps the main story graphics boxes at a reasonable size, the links on the side of the page are so small that they are difficult to read. Then if I click into the story, I again find that I need to change the zoom because the font in the story is too small. So I end up leaving the zoom with the graphics boxes too big because it is the lesser of the two evils. The whole font size thing is a real issue. I like the size here at TD but if you have contacts at the Strib, there's is so darn small, it always needs an adjustment to zoom. Overall, the pages on the new si.com are just too cluttered for me. I suspect that for people who grew up on video games, etc., it's just fine but it isn't the way my brain processes info.
  12. I think its an abomination. And judging by a lot of the comments on the site, so do many others. But then, I'm also primarily a laptop user. I'm much more verbally oriented than I am graphically oriented and I like a lot of white space on the page. So when I see all the graphic links, it just boggles my brain. I know they are great on mobile devices but it is just too d*mn much clutter for me. Also, I used to like that they had the 30 mlb teams on the bottom of the mlb home page and then those would link to a page with story links about the team. If they still have that, I can't find it. I've gotten more used to it but I don't think I'll ever like it.
  13. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_st..._news-articles OR Text N2 to 89269 Or today you can tweet with the hashtag: #VOTEMORNEAU And it also counts if you retweet tweets with that hashtag. I've voted enough for Morneau/Kluber (hey, Cleveland should get something for throwing their support to Morneau) that I've turned my county Kluber green on the maps on mlb. It was and will always be Morneau brown.
  14. Assured of at least a series split!
  15. They pushed back King Felix so he'd start agains.t the A's. THat left them screwed up on starters, I think. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140709&content_id=83877636&notebook_id=83923678&vkey=notebook_sea&c_id=sea Wasn't McClendon the pitching coach for Detroit before they hired Rick Knapp (who was then replaced pretty fast)? Am I making that up?
  16. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 2m It remains possible that Masahiro Tanaka will be seen by Yankees team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad before the end of this week. This seems a little bizarre to me. I thought he was scheduled for an MRI. I would think you'd want your team doc to see him fairly soon.
  17. Oh, yeah. I was kind of thinking of a 5 run lead. Would have to tax our brains for that one.
  18. When was the last time the Twins scored 5 runs?
  19. I'd loke to think its improvement in the batting. I fear that its mostly bad Mariners pitching.
  20. Well, Gibson, the guys have your back tonight. Arcia gives Colabello a concussion there.
