  1. Jeremy Nygaard ‏@jeremynygaard 8m When Nolasco hits the DL, the #mntwins will have $40m on it. They will have just over $50m on the active roster.
  2. I think Bert sent his language skills along on the road trip.
  3. Hope this is a good audition for Correia.
  4. Per Dick: Iwakuma has never given up an earned run to the Twins in his career. I've heard better news.
  5. Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger 13m Top prospect Miguel Sano's meeting with Dr. Altchek went well today, per agent Rob Plummer. He's cleared to start throwing program.
  6. For extra cred, let the screen door hit you on the elbow.
  7. So her real name was Bridget. I didn't remember that her name on the show was Candy until I looked at it just now. But I always identified with that red hair.
  8. I always saw myself as more like Bridget.
  9. In homage to my youth: The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle Like a beautiful child, growing up, free an' wild Full of hopes an' full of fears, full of laughter, full of tears Full of dreams to last the years, in Seattle . . . in Seattle
  10. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 11m #mntwins took out an insurance policy on Nolasco's $49 million contract but it's unknown if there is an exception for elbow history
  11. In a way, I can appreciate Nolasco gutting it out and just pitching .... but for the horrid results. He had just signed a relatively large contract. I'm sure he wanted to live up to those obligations. In the long run, it would have been better if he said something earlier. And maybe they won't find anything. But if they do, I think I will actually feel better about him than I have.
  12. Well, I posted elsewhere that Bronson Arroyo is having TJ surgery. Just thinking about last winter's free agent targets.
  13. Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger 1m Nolasco met with Gardenhire and admitted his elbow has bothered him throughout season but was something he thought he could pitch through Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 2m Gardy called Nolasco an "old-school baseball guy," suggested he had been pitching through some level of pain he had kept to himself. Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger 3m Ricky Nolasco has been dealing with elbow soreness and will fly back to Minnesota tonight to get it checked out by Dr. Steubs Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 11m Nolasco sore elbow. MRI Tuesday Edit: And to add: [*] [*] [*]Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 3m Nolasco compared current elbow issue to what he felt in 2007, when he missed most of the year, Antony said. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 2m Nolasco threw just 55 total innings in 2007, 21 in the majors, following elbow problem he compared to what he's currently feeling.
  14. Seth Stohs ‏@SethTweets 3h Headed to Puerto Rico. RT@jeremynygaard New Britain places Kennys Vargas on "temporarily inactive list". Interesting... #MNTwins Andrew Walter ‏@MNfanfromafar 41m I think this was a good time for Kennys Vargas' wife to have his baby in Puerto Rico. He was 1-for-18 in July, 4 for last 36. #GoodTimingMom Andrew tends to know what is going on with Rock Cats players so I'm pretty sure this is right.
  15. He's on his way home. Wife is having a baby.
  16. Seems like I've heard this song before. I'll believe it when I see it.
  17. Also known as scapegoated the probably the 3 least powerful members of the coaching staff -- leaving in place the ones with the biggest influence and role to play. Installed a new farm director ONLY because Jim Rantz retired. Expanded sabremetrics -- still don't know by how much. It's not like any of these were sweeping or significant changes. Have we seen any great boost in performance since the 3 coaches were fired? Maybe you have. I haven't.
  18. Weren't many of the discussions last off-season on Nolasco vs. Arroyo? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/bronson-arroyo-to-undergo-tommy-john-surgery.html I guess there was just no winning with either of them.
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/bronson-arroyo-to-undergo-tommy-john-surgery.html Puts another twist on the last off-season.
  20. What did we get for Craig Breslow? Not that he's been fabulous but he was serviceable for the A's and then for the Red Sox (horrible year this year). Isn't he another one where the personality issue seemed strong? I'm not saying the Twins should have kept him ... just seemed to be in the same category as Worley (although reliever vs. starter is very different).
  21. While what you say makes sense, I always had the feeling that Gardenhire did have more say when Smith was in charge. I don't know how to reconcile that belief with what you are suggesting here.
  22. I'd have no problem with Ryan being a senior advisor as long as the NEW GM is given authority and comes from OUTSIDE the organization. This might not have been necessary if the organization had blended in some talent from the outside over time. But their primary modus operadi seems to be to hire interns and keep promoting them.
  23. Happy to see the prospects rated well. WAITING to see when and how well they transition to the Twins.
