  1. And Vargas strikes out in his first PA in the Futures Game. Looking forward to seeing Berrios pitch.
  2. Looks like they are going to have to rinse and repeat more than once to win this one.
  3. As long as he kills any Colorado rallies, its okay with me.
  4. I think the Colorado pitcher is having trouble.
  5. Well at least Parms managed to bring in a couple. Geez, I was having visions of 5 or 6 hits in the inning and no runs.
  6. And nice hit by Plouffe. But let's try to get a run from this mess.
  7. Nice hitting by Dozier and Suzuki. Not so good on the baserunning.
  8. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 20m Santana will play five innings in center on Monday for Fort Myers. Then 7 at short on Wednesday, 9 in CF on Thursday.
  9. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 15m Trevor May's first start since June 21 has been postponed due to weather at Rochester. Will have to wait until Thursday (at least).
  10. How dumb is it that this game doesn't start until 2:10 MTN. Geez, Rockies. I think many of us would rather watch the Futures Game than Twins/Rockies.
  11. Thanks for the link. What so impresses me about many of the WW2 generation is their modesty. I've visited with a number of veterans and invariably, no matter the nature of their service, their primary response is: "we did what we had to do".
  12. Phil Miller ‏@MillerStrib 6m Twins' Kennys Vargas, wearing a camera in BP, says he's asked Twins to let him play OF so he can get to MLB faster. pic.twitter.com/aIYFqLWFck
  13. And hitting them out of the park -- wish we could see him in the HR Derby!! Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger 16m Watching Kennys Vargas take batting practice is unreal. Hit one from right side over batters eye. Hit the truck on Target Plaza hitting left
  14. Overall, I jus felt Justin needed a change of scenery. Despite all his good accomplishments in Minnesota, the years from 2010-2013 had a lot of misery. I felt like he needed to be away from Minnesota to put all of the lingering effects of those years aside (not just any lingering concussion effects but also the struggles of not playing like he had previously). If Coors Field played into getting his confidence back, that's great but I really believe it was just having a whole new start this season. So glad that he agreed to play in the Derby (and so ticked off that my 1,000+ votes didn't help him win the 5th man. Only time I have ever voted that much.)
  15. Well, going back and looking at his game logs for 2013, you are definitely right. He had had a great April and decent May and June and then it got worse. So I'm not really sure why the venom from the 2012-2013 off-season seemed to keep building except that he just doesn't show any stuff to inspire confidence. Even in many of his recent starts where he's had good results, it often feels like he is dancing on the edge.
  16. Let's just get OUT of this thing.
  17. LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal 7m View translation Correia's last seven starts: 2.30 ERA
  18. LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal 7m View translation Correia's last seven starts: 2.30 ERA This will also help disperse a lot of bile.
  19. It goes back to the failure of the front office to add better pitching in the 2012-2013 off-season. Correia has been fine as a 5th starter but fans were looking for the Twins to do more so Correia (and the 2-year contract) became the focus of a lot of anger. It seemed like they were adding a pitcher who could pretty much be matched by someone in the system. Also when people looked at his advanced metrics, it just didn't seem like he was bringing much (and that is still a problem in the trade market if you look at some of the articles about trade possibilities). He is also someone who seems to take awhile to get on track in the season so the anger/disgust has time to build. He is not deserving of all of the venom sent his way .... it was more appropriately spewed on the front office. But I do think that the venom about Correia has dissipated somewhat.
  20. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 5m OK, so last RBI for Correia was 7/28/11 at ATL. Last double was 7/17/11 at HOU -- off Wandy Rodriguez, scoring Overbay and ... Fryer. Symmetry.
  21. Well it our rain from this morning tracks east, you'll be getting more.
  22. I think there are. LEN3 says it looks like more today than last night but doesn't say how many.
  23. It was unfair of Bremer to imply that Correia's struggles had a lot to do with throwing to Pinto. When Josmil was sent down, I wondered about that but when I looked, Correia struggled earlier when throwing to Suzuki, too. EDIT: Correction, now that I think about it, I looked at Pinto catching Hughes and couldn't find a correlation on performance. Don't think I ever looked at Correia/Pinto. Sorry.
  24. Much more pleasant start to today's game than last night's.
