  1. MLB advanced media or BAM for us nerdy industry folks is widely concerned the best technology any of the leagues employ, MLB.TV was and remains ahead of the curve for other leagues, and MLBAM was actually tapped this year to host the online march madness tournament games for CBS (and the product was about 10x better then last year) that is also why I suspect it cost $3.95 instead of free. With that said, I have a feeling MLBAM doesn't want a bunch of teams with no app tech experience going off and making there own apps that end up sucking.
  2. It was in jest, but the other one I was referring to was Morneau who is sporting a .093/.110/.203 line against LHP this year. Against LHP Morneau needs to be dropped in the lineup at the very least, in a perfect world I would like to see this lineup against LHP until Morneau gets his **** together: 1.Span 2.Revere 3. Mauer 4. Willingham 5. Plouffe 1B 6. Doumit DH 7. Dozier SS 8. Valencia 3B (I know he is in the minors, but Valencia is a solid option against LHP) 9. Carroll
  3. He had one fluke season at the plate in an otherwise very mediocre career, however I am pretty surprised that he has been THIS awful. At worst I figured he would be a decent Util player in the majors. This is just pathetic.
  4. I have heard it compared to somewhere between AA/AAA for what its worth.
  5. pic should explain it all
  6. I'd be willing to eat the entire contract if we could send Bill Smith to Japan with him.
  7. Hopefully Liriano shows up at the plate, as of now he is our 7th best hitter in the lineup.
  8. This is the first time I can ever recall Mauer calling another play/player dirty, so I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
  9. Yup, trading up and coming players with less than one year service time is typically not a good way to rebuild.
  10. Trevor plouffes best comp is that of brian buscher and brendan harris, he is like the best of both worlds.
  11. http://i47.tinypic.com/1604mdg.jpg
  12. They aren't alike. Duensing is basically a LOOGY who was able to get lucky enough to keep his overall ERA down, once teams figured him out they started stacking RH lineups against him and he struggled. Diamond on the other hand hasn't had issues getting out RH hitters, in fact his numbers against LH are much worse which is suprising for a leftie, but that could just be a case of small sample size.
  13. Zunio is a nice talent no doubt, but it is clear there are about 4-5 superior options at #2 instead of him. The only reasonable reason they could take him at #2 is the ability to sign him below slot, however I don't think the #2 pick is the place to get cute, especially when you have a talent like Buxton available.
  14. It is a futile endeavor to try to compare Buxton to Hicks. Buxton has significantly more upside and a better skill set then Hicks did coming out of HS. I understand how everyone wants to find some Ace pitcher ASAP because the Twins currently lack in SP, but in the draft you always draft for talent this high and not for need, especially since the majority of these players won't even be big parts of your major league club for 3+ years. Heck even our minor league OF depth has taken a big hit this year, the only top OF prospect pulling his weight is Arcia. Hicks/Benson/Morales etc all have looked less than stellar (and thats being nice!) None of the arms this year jump out as anything close to the Bauer types we saw last year, the Twins will have plenty of chances to draft arms with all there comp picks and high 2nd round pick. At this point you gotta go with Buxton IMO, and we should feel lucky as most people view him as the overall top talent in the draft.
  15. And? The runner won't have to be worried about him throwing over at that point. I understand its annoying when a guy throws over a bunch, but it really is pretty rare. If you are trying to say they need to say they need to do it to speed up the game I could somewhat understand, but in the same post you said they need to expand instant replay which ends up slowing up the game significantly more then the 3 throw over rule.
  16. I don't think they have said anyone is untouchable at this point, they just said they aren't looking to trade Morneau actively at this point. The closest thing this team has to untouchable is Sano, and even he would be moved in a heartbeat for certain packages. Besides the Twins very well could get a better package next year for Morneau then this year anyways.
  17. Please, its one article and its relevant to the Twins, you act like people are posting every insider article here on a daily basis. ESPN could choose to do a paywall like other sites (you get x number of articles for free insider a month, then you have to pay) instead they choose not to. Would anyone on here really sign up for a 1 month account just to read a small blurb from law on the top 25?
  18. Why would the Twins trade both Span and Morneau for him? You were the one saying they should trade Morneau for him, which they would never do, nor should the Rangers do. The Rangers have already talked about moving Kinsler to the OF and Andrus to 2nd base once Profar is ready, or they could always trade Andrus once he is ready as well. Either way, Profar is going nowhere unless the Orioles suddenly want to offer Bundy for him.
  19. I'm pretty sure the only reason that Insider currently only exists in order to get people to buy/receive the outdated ESPN magazine, which by all accounts is awful. Though I did like there last big breaking story of: EXTRA EXTRA: College players smoke weed!!1!!
  20. Offer Morneau for Olt and Perez, if the Rangers refuse (which they prob would) then hold onto him the rest of the year and re-evaluate next season.
  21. I can't remember the last time MLB had a major "rule" change, which indicates they have the formula correct. Couple things that I wouldn't mind would be: -Expanding the major league roster to 26. -Get rid of pitchers hitting- Now that interleague play will be going on at all points throughout the season (2013+) its time to stop having pitchers hit, I honestly don't see the point. People argue that it adds strategy or whatever to a game, I just think it adds a Drew Butera to the bottom of the lineup for every team. If its game 7 of the world series I don't think we need to see CC Sabathia and Clayton Kershaw taking at bats in the most meaningful game of the year.
  22. No thanks on Perez, and there is zero chance they trade Profar. Perhaps they would listen if we included Sano, Rosario and Morneau, but that isn't going to happen. Profar is a legit top 5 prospect at this point at a premium position.
  23. The market next year for Morneau (assuming he stays healthy and effective) would be significantly greater, the Twins only have 65 million committed to next years team anyways so there is no rush for a payroll dump. Unless you are blown away by an offer this season, I think the best bet is to hold onto him for 2013 where you can maybe compete in an awful AL Central, if not you can always dump him at the deadline next year if you are out of it. Here are my rankings of players who should be potentially traded from greatest to least. 1a. Pavano (for anything) 1b. Doumit (for anything) 1c. Capps (for anything) 1d.Liriano (for anything) 5. Caroll 6. Span (only for a top starting pitcher in return) 7. Willingham (if the price is right) 8. Morneau (if the price is right) 9a. Burton (if the price is right) 9b. Duensing 9c. Perkins 9d. Blackburn (if anyone would take him)
