  1. By trading Delmon Young and Liriano within the division the Twins very well could have been helping themselves out. Delmon sucks, is getting paid quite a bit of money, can't field, and has a sub .700 OPS while hitting behind Prince and Miggy. In fact Delmon has a -0.6 WAR on the season. If anything the Twins helped themselves out last year and this year as well by trading him in the division.
  2. Above Sanchez actually.
  3. 5.1 IP 4 ER 4 BB is good? 5.2 IP 4 ER 3BB is good?
  4. His 11th start in that "good" run resulted in 2.2 IP, 7H, 7 ER, 3 HR. That goes in the "good" column? His 11 starts were certainly better then his first 6 starts, but those 11 starts produced a 3.68 ERA. Hardly the world beater you proclaimed.
  5. I couldn't disagree more with this. Willingham is a proven contributor but he is on the wrong side of 30 and is having a career season. There is zero chance the Mariners would trade their top prospect for Willingham. Yes, his contract is nice but its only for 2 more years, its not like he has 4-5 cost controlled years left and several more years of upside. example: Would we trade Sano for Kubel straight up? no way. The poster above me is correct, when we set ridiculous expectations like this it makes perfect sense that everyone then screams that Ryan "blew it"
  6. How did you come up with 76 Million? I thought I saw something on mlbtraderumors and other places where they said it was 65 million heading into next season. I doubt the payroll gets slashed to 85 million as well, I'd guess 90-95 million would be where it ends up.
  7. Perhaps the Twins like most teams viewed more than one freaking game when deciding to take a chance on Hernandez. Also FWIW: by your logic White Sox fans could say the exact same thing about Liriano when he gave up 3 HR and 7 ER in his last start against them.
  8. I'd hate to give up Arcia, but if thats what it took I would probably do it.
  9. Fine, then someone else aroudn the 6-10 range of our prospects. The point is if the Marines were for some reason making Walker/Hultzen available (I can't see it happening) we should offer them Willingham and one of our top hitting prospects in return. Anyways its all a pipedream anyways, but I'd give up anyone in a package not named Sano/Arcia/Hicks along with Willingham for a chance to land a high upside guy like Walker ot Hultzen
  10. Significantly higher. DeDuno didn't come close to cracking a top 40 list for the Twins this year I believe and he is 29 years old.
  11. Agree with DPJ I can't see any way Hultzen or Walker are available, but if either one is the Twins should send Willingham to them ASAP. What about Willingham+Benson for Hultzen? Also beware of BingGentleBen, he blasted me last month for saying we should trade one of our OF to the Mariners, since according to him they had such amazing OF depth in Seattle
  12. They had a horrendous start and have been playing better since May, which is around the same time they started giving Plouffe playing time, Diamond to the rotation, Mauer started hitting well etc. If they go .500 the rest of the way we are looking at a 75 win team or so. While that is nothing special its not unheard of for a team to go from 75 to 85+ wins in a season, especially when the Twins have some nice money coming off the books this year and won't be losing anyone of real value (unless they are traded) At this point the Twins are pretty solid offensively, defensively and relief pitching. They need SP help in a big way but if they can someone trade for/sign a couple effective starters and Gibson/Hendriks step up we could be looking at a winning ball club as early as next year.
  13. +1. I was with you the whole way, if anything I thought they should have tried to lock him up in the off-season.
  14. The Twins are rebuilding, that doens't mean they still can't put together a club capable of competeing if things break right in 2013. I never said they were going to be in the thick of anything, just that in this division if they can address the SP issues successfully through trades and FA they could have a shot as long as things break right (Gibson and Hendriks would need to step up, Mauer/Morneau/Willingham healthy etc). They are a .500 team since May,they aren't nearly as far away as the chicken littles of this board are claiming.
  15. On a rebuilding team there is zero room for a guy like Casilla, I'd prefer they trade him for anything at this point as I can't see them offering him a contract heading into next season.
  16. I could guarantee you that the Twins will not trade Span for a package headlined by Correia, nor will they trade for him at all at this point. What is the point of trading for an impending free agent when you are already out of the race?
  17. Most "live" arm yes, best arm? Not so sure. Moving forward I'd say there is a at least a 50% chance that Hendriks, Diamond and Gibson all outpitch Liriano, and most importanly will cost millions of dollars cheaper. I wanted Liriano to stick around as well, and maybe if he preforms "meh" for the White Sox (4.00-4.50 ERA) down the stretch perhaps we can get him back on a cheap 1 year or 2 year deal. But the Twins decided enough was enough at this point with Liriano and they made the move, sometimes you just gotta move on, just like the Delmon trade last year.
  18. They look like a .500 team these days, they struggle against "hot" teams like Oakland and White Sox but handle the decent teams quite well. Over the past few months they have been more or less playing .500 baseball throughout, it's a damn shame that they started out so poorly, as at least .500 gives you some hope for the future. I think anything over 75 wins would be an nice finish to the season to be honest. That basically would have them go .500 from here on out.
  19. That's why I sorta wish the Orioles would have went after Liriano, a guy like Tillman would have been intriguing at least. But did the White Sox have anyone that really fit that bill?
  20. Yup, I am more likely to agree with Dr. Jim then non Dr. Thrylos.
  21. Hey Pig, Please address the smilies issue a few topics lower. Thanks
  22. Surkamp is another example of someone who had surgery delayed all season up until right now.
  23. Nice to see a sweep after the disaster of the White Sox series. Hopefully Morneau can keep this going into next season.
  24. That is "season end" dumba**.
