  1. Well, if he continues to look as inept as he did last night I would guess 25 would turn into 7 or 8 pretty quickly.
  2. Maybe it would just be a wake up call? Gardy seemed to indicate that maybe he would need that. Sounds like he likes the kids potential but frustrated with the results thus far. "Get him out of that I'm-in-the-big-leagues mentality" is somewhat telling. It never hurts to light a fire under the ass from time to time, hopefully they don't keep him down as long as they did Bartlett though.
  3. I think Morneau's highest value would come in the trade deadline next season. Of course if you get an offer you can't refuse this off-season then trade him, but if he continues to hit well (I don't see why he won't) He could be back to a .850+ OPS, 25+ HR guy next season, an impact bat like that at the deadline next season could potentially bring back a Beltran like package. Also, I think the Twins have a decent chance to compete in 2013, I don't think its a coincidence that once Morneau started hitting better this year the team started playing better overall. I'd much rather trade Span this off-season since he could bring in a bigger haul, you can find at bats for Parmelee at RF and DH in that scenario. Lastly, I like Morneau and he is one of my favorite Twins players ever, I'd personally hate to see him traded, especially for a salary dump type reason.
  4. Did you read the article? They want to send Dozier down to help his development. The kid has potential, but let's not sugarcoat it, he has been pretty bad offensively. Hopefully he can go down to AAA, work on his swing/approach and come back up soon and hit for a .700+ OPS. I agree, Nishi sucks but he is owed good money next year, Gardy might as well throw him out there and say "See, we can't count on him in any way shape or form next year" Sort of like what they are potentially doing with Blackburn if he continues to struggle.
  5. Sweet!! :s-instagib: Can you please allow more then 4 smilies now? Thanks!
  6. Sending Dozier back down wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, Gardy is right, he hasn't preformed offensively. I find it interesting that he wants Dozier to focus more on taking walks, that is a good thing IMO. Of course if Dozier is sent down and Nishi is kept up people will go bonkers, but in a lost season we might as well see if Nishioka has ANY sort of a future in the big leagues. I'm guessing he gets 20-25 games to prove himself, and if he doesn't do a complete 180 he will be cut at the end of the year. At the very least we should be able to get some laughs.
  7. About to lose tonight. I reccomend checking out the highlights, top of the 12th, runner on 1st, Washington bunts to move him over, hijinks occur, run scores and the bunter ends up on 3rd.
  8. I was a bit shocked by this, all American League teams passed on Mijares and the Royals got nothing in return. There must be something else going on, perhaps nobody can stand him or something?
  9. The Rangers, Angels, A's and Mariners must be licking their chops.
  10. I apologize. Just didn't like seeing the one positive thread here get derailed repeatedly. How about this: Jeff Gray > Nishioka?
  11. I am going to steal this entire thing. Thank you in advance!
  12. It's hard to walk when pitchers are throwing you nothing but strikes. There are two big reasons why Revere doesn't get many chances to walk. 1. Though he is improving overall, pitchers still aren't worried about giving up anything more than a single to him, his ISO this year is 0.060 2. Mauer, Willingham, Morneau and Doumit follow him in the lineup. If he can somehow develop some power down the road I think he has a shot to pick up a few more walks, but at this point we should be satisfied with what we are getting out of Revere.
  13. I couldn't believe dickbert gushing over his swing tonight, that is one of the dumbest swings I have seen in a while. This kid has no hope.
  14. Bump. Todays game would have been a perfect game thread for multiple red and blue flag runners, followed by the lase smilie for Nishoka's 0 for 5 performance. Please
  15. The Houston Astros are 4 and 30 in their past 34 games. Just remember even during our awful April it could always be, much, much, much, much worse.
  16. Well Pig, you had me until you dissed my flawless plan of offering Justin Morneau a contract extension. With that said http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_t-Dy2G2jvCI/TNvtKKK5ZzI/AAAAAAAABHc/HYuHEfugO3g/s1600/comic-book-guy-worst-post-ever.jpg jk your the best. Not really.
  17. Sano!!!! Edit: This all caps lock out is pretty lame Rocketpig
  18. Jeff Gray > Jokin Revere has broken the dry spell of first round picks who haven't had much of an impact for the Twins. Hopefully Hicks and Gibson can both help next year.
  19. Been going back and forth between this cooking and the Olympics, love these type of games, can check in every 10-15 minutes and things keep getting better
  20. Revere with a real nice game. This kid is really proving himself.
  21. This lineup looks awesome. Sans 2B/SS/3B of course Think of how deadly they could be once Plouffe comes back.
  22. +50000 I have been trying to say this for weeks. 75 wins after this horrendous start would be a nice victory. Gives me hope for next season and beyond. This team looks like a .500 team currently and has some money coming off the books this off-season along with some intriguing trade chips and prospects knocking on the door.
  23. The Twins have the 2nd most come from behind wins after the 3rd inning in all of baseball.
