  1. The O-Line and front 7 have been terrible, hopefully this is just an issue of conditioning/short week and not a sign of things to come.
  2. Watching them flounder against the Bucs at home on a short rest week even going to dent this stupid take? Hell, their best plays have been "throw it up and pray" moves that have worked two out of three times. The whole team looks awful tonight, the defense has totally forgotten how to tackle and Peterson had a rare fumble. Hopefully they can get back in this game. Ponder has been iffy, but his deep throws have for the most part been pretty accurate.
  3. What are you talking about? You don't think we can beat Detroit at home? Give me a break. The Bears have a pretty weak offense IMO, we can beat them either game as long as Ponder doesn't turn the ball over (which is asking quite a bit these days) Packers @ home should be competitive as well, they have a good number of flaws.
  4. I believe so, this would have been his 6th year and he hasn't really done anything in his time in the minors anwyays.
  5. The only three guys I trust in the pen heading into next year are Perkins, Burton and Duensing, so yes, I think the bullpen should be a priority. We only need to really grab one MI on the FA market to upgrade. Caroll/Florimon/Dozier can hold down the other spot just fine.
  6. Ogando isn't a major league starter.
  7. Great news IMO, a Healthy Baker is better then anyone on the FA market not named Greinke, Peavy or Sanchez.
  8. I'd give a guy like Marcum two years with a team option for the third.
  9. Patriots: 4-3 (BARELY) Vikings: 5-2 haha We do need better QB play not doubt, but more weapons wouldn't hurt...
  10. 1 resign scott baker to an incentive ladden contract 2 accuire 2 front of the rotation starters ( we have 19-20 player on our 40 man roster and in our top 20 prospect list who will be non factors, use these guys to go get what you need....shields and johnson, once you have these 2 on board, the rest of baseball will think we want to win , not just fill the owners pockets, and signing free agents will be easier. 3 sign roy oswalt to a simular contract as bakers , with say a 3-4 million base salary(why? if hes good he helps, or can be traded for young arms later in the season , and if hes bad send him down to rochestor and stop paying him) This team simply does not have the bullets to pull off getting Shields AND Johnson. Also Oswalt is awful, no thanks. Also do you understand how contracts work? You can't just send a player down to the minors and stop paying them.
  11. It's a pretty thin market, there are no true "aces" on the market this year, Greinke is as close as that gets I suppose, otherwise there are a few #2's (Marcum, Peavvy, Sanchez, Lohse??) and the rest arelow end #3's and solid #4's (Kuroda, Jackson,) though low end #3's and solid #4's would be a huge upgrade for us...
  12. First off, who knows how willing Toronto is going to be to trade him, and who knows what the cost will be? There is no guarantee they will take pennies on the dollar for him. Here is my backup plan: Sign one of Kelly Johnson, Stephen Drew, Jeff Keppinger or Marco Scutaro. It's not like they NEED a SS, if they upgrade 2B they can live with Dozier/Carroll/Florimon etc at SS.
  13. The thing Ponder needs to learn the most is "throw the ball away" he tries to do to much at times ala Farve, if he can cut down on the stupid throwing across your body INT's then this team is in good shape moving forward. This defense is legit, the only thing that can/will kill us its turnovers on our side of the field.
  14. he's significantly better than anything the Twins have had. And he's significantly better than anything available on the market unless you can get 55 yr old Marco Scutaro (my top target). This team needs players that are good at baseball and Yunel can hit a .700 OPS with good defense at SS. Start suggesting other ideas since Floriman, carroll, Dozier (there's still a little hope though), eddie escobar and anything else the Twins have suck. Aim high. Trade Span for Andrus.
  15. Not exactly a whole lot of 30 year old managers in baseball.....
  16. Herman is not a guy we need to be worrying about in regards to service time......
  17. Dave, it's USAFChief, not USA. Yew Ess Aee Eff. Please do not put me in the Army. My bad. Not sure why I forgot the F
  18. I'd bet against this
  19. Agreed about why Steinback and not the other 2 are bench coaches. Steinbach was definitely a surprise since his only coaching job has been at the high school level. This is a pretty big jump... Food for thought: If/when Gardy gets thrown out again during a game, I suspect that it will be Scotty still managing the team as usual.. With Steinbach as the "catching" coach hopefully that means they are getting rid of Butera.
  20. So how about you actually follow through on this project? Things have been better on the smilie department lately, but I think we need to increase the smilie options, some I suggest: :gay: :swing: :hammer: :thepinkguyblowingsmoke: :Ben Revere Smile: Also lets up the rate to 10. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Twindsdaily/BYTO Smilie Committee president
  21. Here's a thought...why don't you look them up? I looked on the Rochester website and they don't break out starter versus reliever stats. Do you know of a site that does? P.S. I noticed your location, I graduated from U of A in 1975. Great school! And Tucson is 100 times better than Phoenix (where I live). Don't mind USAChief, he is just goting through menopause these days As far Manship not getting a chance to start for the Twins, I would have to think if the Twins even thought he had a slight chance to stick as a major league starter they would have given him a shot...i mean look at some of the guys we ran out on the mound this year
  22. Assuming Sano, Arcia, Rosario, Gibson, Berrios, Walker and Buxton are all untouchables, I think to land trout you have to start with Benson, then add in Whimmers, Florimon and Goodrum to get the Angels interested.
