  1. I'd be very interested in Josh Johnson, Morrow,Romero or Drabek. Drabek could be a good buy low candidate. The rest would prob cost significant prospects, it would be a good time to target Romero as well, but the Jays have no real reason to trade him.
  2. Is it? He is about to break the rushing record....
  3. I could see him doing it in the future, it just has to be the right guy to go after. No way in hell were they going to get in the Greinke sweepstakes and compete with the insane contract the Dodgers gave him, I am bummed they weren't in the Sancez sweepstakes, but at the end of the day he isn't an "ace" or really even that close to one. Maybe the best way to obtain an ace is to draft and trade for high upside pitching prospects. I do know that the Twins should have quite a bit of money to spend next off-season at the very least, and with guys like May/Myer/Hicks/Arcia/Benson?/etc all knocking on the door then, maybe that is the time to truly "go for it" I still think they can hopefully sign Marcum at this point, and bring in another "wing and a prayer guy" like Webb and see if they can somehow get lucky for 2013. Worst case scenario is they end up trading away Morneau and maybe Willingham at the deadline and bring in hopefully some more prospects.
  4. Yeah, I mean I just see him as a pretty inconsistent pitcher, maybe I am wrong. I don't think he is bad, I just don't think he is worth over paying for (where as I think a guy like Sanchez or Haren would have been worth over paying for)
  5. Over paying for mediocrity is never a good idea. 3/33 is the right number for a guy like Jackson, 3/45 is not. I'd much rather they keep that 15 million free in 2014/2015 and just go into this season and commit to a rebuild. Keep that 15 mil to go after a front of the rotation guy in the future. Or just sign Marcum for less money anyways (who has a good shot to put up superior numbers)
  6. I don't understand all the Edwin Jackson love, the dude just has never been that great. He isn't terrible, but is basically a back end rotation type guy (albeit much better then what we currently have) I would give him 3/30 but not a whole lot more (maybe 3/33 if I was pressed) FWIW: He posted pretty close to Carl Pavano (when healthy) numbers in his ERA/ xFIP/ IP/ WAR etc (especially when you factor in his AL vs NL numbers) I wouldn't give someone like that 15 mil a year.
  7. I'm not in the mood to get drawn into a debate (seriously I have seen enough dumb **** on facebook this week to make me want to leave that site forever) but all I am going to say is we need to start looking at gun control seriously in this country. We have proven time and time again that we make terrible decisions in this country when we allow private citizens to stock pile a half+ dozen weapons in their own home (often including auto and semi auto weapons) I'm not saying abolish the 2nd amendment (nobody really is), and I'm not saying people can't keep a hand gun in there home if they think it protects them (even though it really doesn't) and this has absolutely nothing to do with hunters, just these people who feel the need to keep multiple hand guns and semi/auto weapons in ones home.
  8. I like bringing in Pelfrey, sounds like its on a reasonable enough contract and everything. Ideally we can still land Marcum, then I would be pretty ok with our rotation heading into next season. I think if you have: Marcum Diamond Worley Gibson Pelfrey Correia Hendriks Webb You can piece together a rotation.
  9. Pretty damn impressive game all around, Peterson was out of this world again, Ponder looked much better then he has in months it seems like (still don't think he is the answer, but he seemed to be on target quite a bit more and had only two really bad throws) And the Defense/ST were superb again as well.
  10. Can't wait for the inevitable "are the twins racist thread" again
  11. Sign pelfrey and marcum and I would give this offseason a B
  12. Profar is untouchable at this point(for the twins) and Andrus is about to get really expensive in 2 years. You can live with slap hitting slick fielding MI, you need your 3rd baseman to smack it IMO, I wouldn't over pay just to get a MI over a superior 3rd base option.
  13. Sano's chances of sticking at 3rd base are less then 50%, him being at least an average defensive 3rd baseman is less then 30% at this point, also he is still a long ways off... period. Assuming that he is the long term answer at 3rd base at this point would be a mistake. I love how we haven't had a legit 3rd baseman since Koskie, and suddenly some feel that a half of a season from Plouffe (I think he sticks offensively, but defense is a question), and Sano are suddenly all the depth we need.
  14. Meh, I didn't need Gardner, I have plenty of OF depth. Beckett could have a nice year and a lot of wins.
  15. Pass.
  16. Sanchez ends up back with the Tigers...damn?
  17. The good news with dempster and Sanchez is neither one got an absurd salary, which means we should be able to get marcum or Jackson at a half way decent rate
  18. yeah it would prob take another piece from the Twins...maybe? I dunno though, Olt is a very nice prospect but is more in the 15-20 range then the top 5 range IMO. Didn't they try to get Upton for Olt and the Diamondbacks declined? (I could be totally wrong on this) I also think Morneau brings some value to the plate as well for them, and you never know....teams do tend to do silly things sometimes when a rival goes out and makes a huge splash.
  19. No, Dempster is old and was a disaster in the AL last year. He will struggle to post a sub 4.50 ERA
  20. Desperation. They need bats, now that they don't have Hamilton or Upton a guy like Willigham would slot in perfectly in that ball park.
  21. Even with Marcum I think they bring in another low cost guy on a 1 year deal, Lannan would probably be it. Then you have Gibson/Hendriks waiting in the wings. I think Ryan realizes they absolutely need "legit arms" to fill the rotation, even if a few of those arms are lifetime #5 type guys.
  22. Marcum has always been a guy at the top of the list for me. He has some injury issues (but nothing to major recently) and his k/bb ratio isn't the greatest in the world, but its really hard to ignore the fact that in each of his last 4 seasons he has a 3.70 ERA or lower. I would love to bring him in on a 3 year deal. Ideally we would still have enough left to take a run at a guy like Jackson.
  23. I'd love to see Punto back in a Twins uniform. The minute we got rid of that scrappy son of a bitch our team went to ****.
