  1. I set it up where it is one per day now. 40 days for 40 players seems about right. #1 and #2 should be pretty easy, but once we get into the #3-#15 range a lot of good points could be brought up.
  2. Pick up to three players. The highest scoring single player will move onto the #2 run off along with the two losers from the #1 run off. (To save potential time any tie will revert to who had more points in previous polls) I left one (write in) choice as well: If you think I missed someone, choose it and name your player below. HEY BROCK! Can you make it so we can cap the number of "max choices" for the poll at 3? For now, please only vote for up to 3 to move on.
  3. Open for 24 hours. Vote for 1. The other two will automaticaly make it to the run off for #2 tomorrow.
  4. Also the plan is to do top 40, anything deeper gets real redundant IMO
  5. I'm going to change it to one per day. Will update within the hour.
  6. Most likely so, but it's a good chance to get everyone used to how it works. Actually what I might do is after we get these three, we keep the 2 left over in the next "run off" and vote in 1 more into the #2 run off. Also there prob are some people who would think that Buxton is the #1 prospect, and its certainly worth debating.
  7. I personally went with Sano, Buxton and Hicks. Sano and Buxton should almost be no brainers in the "runoff' but I like Hicks a bit more then Arcia/Rosario and the new pitchers.
  8. Pick the three players you want to see goto the #1 runoff: Also feel free to post your choices/reasons why here, along with who you would like added moving forward. Brock: Can you make it so we can cap the number of "max choices" for the poll at 3? For now, please only vote for up to 3 to move on.
  9. Those from BYTO will remember this: Basically its pretty simple: We will start from the top on down: You will have 10 choices to vote from. After the first 24 hours we will take the top 3 and do a "run off" for another 24 hours. Whoever has the most votes is the #1 guy. The other two guys will go back to the list and another one will be added. There will be 10 people to vote on for #2 (top 3 to a run off) and so on until we get a top 40 twinsdaily.com Overall top 40 list. Sound good? Will start it today. 24 hours from now I will post the top 3 and the run off for #1 will start. This should at least keep us occupied before the season.
  10. Injured shoulder
  11. Meh, I have a hard time believing that an "option only" plan would have worked against the packers. At some point you need to at least prove that you can pass the ball, (like ponder last week) in order to get 9 and 10 players from crowding the box.
  12. I like Webb, but he is nothing more then a wildcat option at this point, and if he isn't good enough to at least be a 4/5wr or a special teams player there really is no reason to dress him week in and week out, bring in Flynn or Smith or draft a kid like Landry Jones to at least give the Vikes 2qbs who can at least not embarrass themselves on national TV. Webb was downright terrible.
  13. Except that time in 2011 when they had the 9th highest payroll in baseball, or when they gave Mauer one of the biggest contracts in baseball history of course. Don't let facts get in the way of your complaining though
  14. Bile? That ****ty post got exactly the response it deserved. I should have just ignored it altogether though.
  15. The off-season isn't close to being over dude, plenty of quality players still remain on the FA and trade markets. If we roll into pitchers and catchers reporting and this is the roster we have, I will agree. Until then I am going to give Ryan the benefit of the doubt, since for the most part in his time as a GM he has done a pretty damn good job!
  16. The main problem with giving Edwin Jackson a large contract over 4 years is that he just really isn't that good. Career 4.40 ERA (half of which were in the NL) 4.10 ERA over the past 3 years (mostly spent in the NL) I mean, he would be nice to have in the rotation, but in reality the dude is no better then a #4 for a competitive team. I'd rather the Twins save that money for 2014 for a pitcher who actually has the potential to be a front end guy instead of a back end rotation guy. I am dissapointed they didn't take a larger run at Sancez though....but he didn't exactly come cheap anyways. I still maintain Marcum is the smart option at this point IF he can stay healthy he has a really nice chance to out preform both of Sanchez and Jackson for a much cheaper deal (see: 2 years/14-18 mil)
  17. Gardy's struggles in the postseason is a totally valid complaint no doubt, but I don't mind the patience shown with him. As someone who grew up as a Nebraska football fan, it should be noted that fans wanted Osborne out for YEARS due to a less then stellar bowl/national championship record. Luckily, the cool heads at the top realized it was more ****ty luck then bad coaching (see: the Twins playoff loses...bad match ups against the Yankees etc). How did it work out for Nebraska? Pretty well as I recall, as they won 3 out of 4 national titles and had the single most dominating team 1995 in college football history. Now Gardy is far from perfect no doubt, but even with the past 2 rough years it should be noted that Gardy has led the Twins to the division title in 5 of the 10 years he has been manager (50% in a 5 team division is damn good!) Also, if Gardy was let go there would be multiple teams lining up to bring him in as a manager. I sorta equate this to a lesser extent of what happened to Andy Reid in Philly, dude was very successful for the Eagles, had a couple bad years then was let go. I'm willing to bet $100 that the next coach for the Eagles doesn't come close to doing what Reid did for the Eagles, and I am confident that unless the Twins bring in Maddon, Torre or some other amazing MLB manager whoever follows in Gardy doesn't come close to matching his 5 division titles in 10 years. Yes its frustrating that we couldn't get past the Yankees (a terrible matchup) in the playoffs each and every year it seemed! But IMO you gotta give Gardy a couple more years to right the ship with the upcoming talent coming up through the org.
  18. Gotta give you some credit on this one, you are digging real deep with some serious effort to find a way **** on the Twins front office with this post! Good work! You must be a great person to deal with in real life, I for one am jealous of all your friends/family/co-workers who get to spend their time with such a positive and intelligent individual on a day to day basis!
  19. DERRRRRPPPPPPPPPPP Hey dude, what happened with the Baker signing again?
  20. It's threads like this that make this entire forum a disaster to read in the off-season. The Twins have plenty of bullpen options for next year, including wonder boy Slama as well as guys like Harden who could slot in quite nicely into the bullpen. I would have liked a Frasor signing, but it's not worth blasting the org over, Jesus Christ. I still kinda hope we can resign Capps to a one year/1 mil deal personally, he is frustrating, but I think he could be a nice 6th/7th inning guy next year for us.
  21. See: 2004 playoffs. The thing is: If the Vikings play close to mistake free football and get a little bit of luck on their side they can def win this game.
  22. Nishioka/hardy were Bill Smith Moves...
  23. Yeah Myers at 1/7 isn't to much more appealing then what we got Correia for. If you held a gun to my head I would say Myers, but its not worth getting to upset about. GO. GET. MARCUM!
  24. How am I painting it a bit rosy there? I said he has a shot to be a real "stinker" but at least if he doesn't work out as a starter he has some value in the pen ($5 mil worth? no) but it's not a Blackburn or Nishioka situation at least at that point. I still think there is a decent enough shot that he sticks as a #5, if he can give you 4.50 ERA and 180 IP that is probably worth 5 million a year.
  25. Yeah the Carroll signing was just fine IMO. The Willingham and Doumit ones were great. Correia could be a stinker, or he could be a #5 for us. If it's the latter then the contract really isn't that terrible. Hell even if he ends up in the pen it's not the worst thing in the world. It's just 5 million.
