    Hicks

If he keeps this up another week or two I think you have to seriously consider moving him to lead off. Hicks Mauer Sano dozier Plouffe Hunter Rosario Suzuki Santana
  3. They are getting caught stealing, picked off and thrown out at third way too much this year. Also I think they are bunting more then they should, now that the bats are heating up I hope Molitor stops trying to play so much small ball. Unless you are up against a Cy Young type there is little reason to be bunting before the 7th inning.
  4. Many folks will recall that in 2009 I actually predicted the twins would make the playoffs when they were 3 back with 4 to play. There was another BYTO poster who actually said he would "leave forever" if it happened. Of course it did happen and the rest is history.
  5. Cubs need some pitching help, how about Pelfrey and Escobar for Starlin Castro?
  6. I'd include him in a heartbeat for Chapman.
  7. Ditto, I was on vacation so it was a perfect way to spend a few hours from 10pm to 2am! Junior has looked pretty damn good this year. I'm not a Kyle Busch fan, but his 2 wins in the last 3 races is impressive! The chase will be better off if he can make it in.
  8. I mean the fact that Texas wasn't even able to trade him for a PTBNL I guess shows the MLB consensus on him, I would have liked to grab him, however the twins are already "stashing" one guy in the pen on Graham. Whoever the twins get needs to be able to step in ASAP to the 8th inning.
  9. It won't happen, but when buxton is healthy I would look to trade Hunter. Torii looks to be wearing down a bit and could fetch a decent player in return, buxton vs hunter the rest of the year has a very good chance at being at least a wash when you factor in the speed and defense.
  10. I'm pretty sure the next time Pelfrey lays an egg (assuming he didn't have 2-3 great starts prior to it) they will swap May back in. i think his development as a starter will be fine regardless. He's basically a rookie earning his nice MLB paycheck, he has all the motivation in the world to pitch great regardless of whether it's in the rotation or out of the pen.
  11. What's fun about this year is the twins last 13 games are against Cleveland, Detroit and KC. This could be a real deadly team in sept as well with sept call up guys like Arica and Vargas on the bench as PH and Buxton as a PR and defensive replacement.(assuming some or all aren't playing bigger roles than that anyways) Also, guys like Meyer, Berrios, etc could make the bullpen even deeper. I think the twins could have a nice (sept roster advantage) over some of their main competition. Either way, barring a complete disaster we will be watching some meaningful baseball games in August and Sept. That's what it's all about!

    Hicks

I give up on a lot of players (see: Dozier, Perkins), but I always had a hunch that Hicks would figure it out, and yes I will toot my own horn on this one

    Hicks

I think hicks has 20/20 potential, that is more than enough for a corner OF bat (especially one who doesn't K much), add in elite corner OF defense and you have a damn good player, maybe not all star quality every year , but "guy who sticks in the league and has a nice 12 year career with a couple Gold gloves" type. Hunter with a little less power but a better eye seems like a pretty good potential comp. Guy has taken very very good at bats lately, hopefully something just "clicked" and he never looks back. I mentioned before and believe it more every day; he reminds me of when Hunter finally figured it out at the plate and never looked back.
  14. I can't see them going less than .500 the rest of the way unless one of Sano, Mauer, dozier or Perkins misses significant time.
  15. If the Twins can get a little bit of bullpen help they can match any of those teams not named KC and maybe the Angels. NY, Houston, Balt? The twins can match them as is and a little inprovment in the pen and maybe at catcher makes me like the twins chances even more. Houston is on a slide now and only one game up on Minnesota anyways. I believe. I don't think we get the 94-97 wins it would take to win the division, but I really like our chances at one of the wild card spots, 88-90 wins should get it done. Sano, an awesome looking Hicks and a revitalized Mauer makes this offense look so much damn better!
  16. Yeah, buxton should be sent to AAA, he didn't look "ready" in his earlier cup of coffee, which is fine of course. Let him go to AAA dominate, bring him up in sept and let him be a real nice bench option in the playoffs.
  17. Duensing looking solid lately! I don't want him in the 8th in a close game, but if he can be a solid 6th/7th guy for a while it helps this bullpen immensely.
  18. Yes and no, Arcia's pitch selection is pretty bad. Until he improves he is going to see nothing but sliders low and outside.
  19. No room to bring him up, no reason to bring him up and have him only play 1-2 times a week. Keep him in AAA until someone in the OF struggles big time or gets hurt. Once sept rolls around you call him up, if you make the playoffs you consider having him on the roster just for PH potential. (You don't need as many pitchers in the playoffs , so you can still keep Buxton as well for a speed guy/defense guy assuming his hitting hasn't come around)
  20. If Arcia could take a few notes from Sano...
  21. Sano does not take bad at bats. Reminds me of Miggy Cabrera.
  22. exactly. I would like to see him brought into some high leverage situations soon, no reason why he couldn't "handle" it.
  23. Big time home run, good to get a little breathing room. Was feeling a bit nervous with just a 3 run lead, Detroit has some guys who can make a 3 run lead dissaper with one swing.
  24. I don't think it has to do with a pelfrey trade, just if pelfrey struggles over his next two starts. This may be the best thing for May, a month or so in the pen, allows his innings to remain somewhat low for a long playoff run where he is the #4 starter
  25. JoeyBats out, dozier in! Congrats and well deserved.
