  1. In the case of Liriano and co, it's not so much "sell low" it's more "hurry up and sell while you can!!" Since they were impending free agents on a non contending team.
  2. The senators are not the twins! The twins haven't retired Walter Johnsons number because he wa never a Twin. If they haven't put him in the Twins HOF or retired his number, why on earth would you want/expect fans to vote him in, or get upset when he wasn't voted in? Also you dont hear Twins fans talking about their 3 World Series titles(1 washington) you hear them talking about their two World Series titles (87 and 91) Walter Johnson was a Washington Senator, not a Minnesota twin!

I get the argument that getting veteran leaders is a good move, but suggesting Uribe (3B) and Happ (back end SP) as options when the twins have insane depth at 3B and lots of mid to late rotation pitchers sends off alarms that this just may be a troll post. Also, Santana's career is likely done
  4. Billy Hamilton literally does that to every pitcher, I don't think Suzuki is some elite defensive guy, but you need to find a better example then a guy who is probably the best base stealer since Ricky Henderson. My bigger issue with The twins that series vs Hamilton is how the hell do you manage to walk him multiple times!?????
  5. Not to get too off topic, but because The next 3 years of doziers contract is known, it also makes it easier for the twins to give him a new contract that locks up his first year or two of free agency in exchange for giving him some more cash in the first 3 years.
  6. Meh. This is just a random fan poll in a random all star year, no need to get all upset about it. When I think "Twins" I think of there time in Minnesota, I doubt most "Twins fans" when they moved to Minnesota were Senators fans anyways. Walter Johnson was a senator, not a Twin. Shawn Kemp was a Supersonic, not a Thunder player etc At the end of the day Johnson is in the HOF, it's not like he is getting forgotten suddenly. Also to an earlier post, Carew never had an issue with Twins fans or the team, he had an issue with the owner
  7. How about those Perkins and Dozier contracts? I would say I would be looking forward to game 7 in Minnesota this year in the world series, but pretty sure they will win in 4 or 5 anyways.
  8. I'm not sure how much I believe in "clutch", but I will be damned if Dozier doesn't find a way to hit home runs in a lot of his "big at bats", hopefully he has a couple for us in October too
  9. The pitches/swings were coming too fast.
  10. Good for him! Another 2 strike home run for Dozier! Glad to see him making the most of his chance, was worried he wouldn't get in the game earlier in the night. In classic 2015 Dozier fashion it was a solo HR as well
  11. Iran is apparently an absolutely amazing country, my girlfriend and her family go back often. The people of Iran are wonderful people for the most part, it's their government that is obviously the issue, but with these relations being open again maybe there is some hope for some eventual "betterment" in the Iranian government in the future.

  13. Which seems like all the more reason to keep him in the minors a bit more this year to work on his contact ability/pitching selection.
  14. He would be the 7th best offensive SS this year in terms of OPS+ and wRC+, also Gordon seems to be pretty dang good defensively as well. If he "turns out" like Revere at the plate then we have a pretty nice SS on our hands. Not an all star or anything, but someone who can actually stick. But even this is silly, the kid is super young and super raw, it's way too early to say one way or another who or what he will be.
  15. If Ben Revere was at SS he would be a pretty damn good SS.
  16. It took Dee Gordon a few years of development as well before he started picking it up (and he was 20 when he was drafted) Patience is needed with Nick, hopefully come 2018 we are talking about him knocking on the door.
  17. Someone needs to find copy of this video!!!
  18. 1.Nick Punto 1a. Babe Ruth
  19. What?
  20. That's why I have stated that it's a travesty that Carl Pohlad has a statue at target field. I'm sure he is still laughing in hell.
  21. This was raised in another thread, I would LOVE to get Papelbon, and frankly, I'm not sure he wouldn't mind his option not getting picked up/guaranteed. I'd say he is a pretty good bet to get a 3 year 28-36 million dollar deal on the open market if he became a FA anyways. The Twins can certainly "afford" the payroll portion, not sure about the price of assets it would take to trade for him, but if the price was reasonable I think him alone makes the Twins that much more of a world series contender. Papelbon in the 8th and Perkins in the 9th would be pretty amazing.
  22. Meh, I wouldn't love it or hate it. He had a pretty good year last year (2.66 ERA 8.7 k/9). He wouldn't cost anything, so picking up for a week or two wouldn't hurt you. Plenty of "open spots" in the pen IMO.
  23. This format is pretty awesome.
  24. Should be fun.
  25. Between Santana, Polanco and Escobar I think they can cobble SS together and just play ride the hottest hand of the moment. My areas of need ranked: 1. Bullpen (shutdown 8th inning guy, and one more guy wouldn't hurt as well) 2. Catcher (Either a guy who is a clear upgrade over Suzuki, or a guy like Pierzynksikisksiksikikiiiii who can play in close to a 50/50 split with him) 3. A good bat off the bench (Plenty of in house solutions, especially come August/Sept/Oct) 4. SS
