  1. The only way you can trade Gibson is if you are confident that Berrios is ready to step into the major league rotation immediately afterwards. If you aren't, I don't see how you can trade your best SP at this point. I like Berrios a lot as well, but his height worries me and has me doubt he will ever be the "ace" we all hope for, though It think there is a very good chance he ends up as a good #2 type.
  2. There is like zero chance Sano is traded, fans would burn Target field to the ground.
  3. .820 OPS away from Coors is still amazing for a SS.
  4. 016 31 Colorado Rockies $20,000,000 2017 32 Colorado Rockies $20,000,000 2018 33 Colorado Rockies $20,000,000 2019 34 Colorado Rockies $20,000,000 2020 35 Colorado Rockies $14,000,000 2021 36 Colorado Rockies *$15,000,000 $15M Team Option, $4M Buyout
  5. I don't think they can trade Gibson in the middle of a playoff race, I would give up Berrios +Polanco+Vargas+Nolasco for Tulo. Or May+Polanco+Kepler+Nolasco for Tulo The idea is you toss in Nolasco and don't have to ask the Rockies for money back.
  6. I will give the winner a Sano t-shirt. You know the rules, over/under from tonight to the end of the season. Twins Wins: 37.5 Mauer's OPS: .815 Dozier HRs: 14.5 Sano HRs: 9.5 Hicks: .350 OBP Sano OPS: .900 Hunter HR: 8.5 Perkins Saves: 22.5 Gibson ERA: 3.25 Santana ERA: 3.50 Hughes ERA: 3.75 Arcia PA: 150 Buxton PA: 150 Trevor May Starts: 5.5 Mike Pelfrey Starts: 5.5 Alex Meyer IP: 6.5 Jose Berrios IP: 15.5 Kurt Suzuki OPS: .600 RP acquired via free agency and trade: 1.5 Catchers acquired via trade: 0.5 Trevor Plouffe OPS: .775 Brian Duensing ERA: 3.80 Blaine Boyer ERA: 3.80 Casey Fien ERA: 3.80
  7. Meh, what are the Twins supposed to do, trash the guy? By all accounts Kurt has been a great teammate for the team and for whatever its worth the pitching has been pretty solid this year with him behind the dish. The twins usually keep trade talks/rumors etc close to the vest anyways. I still think AJ would be the perfect fit since he wouldn't cost much and could be a 50/50 split with Suzuki.
  8. Yeah, I just wonder if the Twins could package them someone like a power bat like Vargas (1st base/DH), Meyer (another disappointing high prospect), Suzuki (to at least cover C for the rest of this year for them) and a bullpen prospect in return for Zunino. Probably unlikely, just spit-balling, Zunino seems like a perfect change of scenery candidate, maybe Mauer and co could teach him a few things and get his average above the mendoza line.
  9. Just think how many titles we would have won if Ryan pulled the trigger on the Johan Santana for Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp, Chad Billinsgley and James Loney deal. Also, off topic a bit, but I wonder if Brian Buscher and Brendan Harris will be the first platoon combo to get in on the first ballot of the hall of fame?
  10. I can't see them trading Sanchez as he is the only real prospect they have left. He also is only 22, so any struggles shouldn't be a warning flag IMO. I wonder if the Mariners wouldever consider trading Zunino?
  11. Kepler is the guy I would be dangling in trade talks. His value is high currently and the Twins likely wouldn't miss him too terribly.
  12. might need to toss in Sean Bergman.
  13. but then you suddenly have a huge issue in the OF, either you play Robinson who is garbage at the plate, or you play Arcia in LF with Hunter in RF and Rosario who is average at best in CF, recipe for disaster during a run for the playoffs IMO. If buxton was proven ready or something it would be a different story.
  14. "Brian Buscher is gonna be a perennial all star, these bust comments are gonna look silly in a few years"- Nick
  15. Having a bullpen full of rookies or guys like Tonkin who have shown nothing at the major league level is a receipe for disaster. You can maybe try to get one or two rookies to step up, but the solution isn't going to be "hey let's demote everyone and just call up the AAA roster!"
  16. I have been 100% for this for the last few months, plus he is around for 2016 as well, when the Twins, on paper at least, should be even better.
  17. Neither of those things should happen until the off season though, agreed? Or if the Twins suddenly lose the next 8 games or something.
  18. That's pretty much what the Twins are most other teams do , the reality is it's really really hard to stick at CF, SS or C when moving up the org ranks.
  19. I don't think Nunez is a good player, but I don't understand why you even have him on the roster if you continually refuse to use his as a PH for Suzuki or Santana. Nunez isn't good in the field, so if he isn't good enough to use as a PH there really is no reason for him to be wasting a spot on the major league roster.
  20. Agreed, I think you can just go get a rental type like AJ now for catcher and then step back and address the problem long term during the off-season.
  21. They still have Wil Myers and Matt Kemp under contract/control for another 4 seasons. I don't think Arcia is an upgrade over either one (especially Myers) and I don't see how the Padres would be able to trade Kemp and his contract anyways.
  22. Where would the Padres play Arcia? Don't they already have like 65 corner OF types? Many of which who are owed a good chunk of change?
  23. The A's aren't just going to toss in Clippard like some PTNBL. Kazmir would be a no brainer, he is a significant upgrade over a good chunk of the Twins current rotation and there is a good chance he would instantly become the staff "ace", NTM the Twins will lose Santana if they make the playoffs. Regular season rotation: Kazmir: 2.38 ERA 8.3 k/9 Gibson: 2.85 ERA Santana: 3.66 ERA Hughes: 4.15 ERA (2.85 ERA last 6 starts) Milone: Solid as of late other then yesterdays hiccup. Plus you get to put Pelfrey in the pen where he could be a real asset and the path for May to rejoin the rotation perhaps becomes easier with KAzmir being a LHP and if Milone struggles. Playoff rotation: Kazmir Gibson Hughes one of May or Milone.
