  1. Jake Reed is a long ways from being any sort of major league player, much less a "lights out set up guy", he is getting shelled in AA and his stats are significantly down across the board. If Tonkin is going to get DFAed eventually anyways, why would the A's give up an asset for him?
  2. Come on, you are smarter then this. There is 0% chance of that trade happening, you are giving up Santana, who has plenty of questions on whether he will ever be a ML regular, Tonkin, who has done zilch in his numerous call ups to the big and Jake Reed, a relief pitcher (prospect) who probably doesn't crack the A's top 25 and is currently rocking a 5.87 ERA in AA this year. There is no reason for the A's to make that trade.
  3. Agreed, though Rogers has some nice value as a LOOGY in the major league pen, but he isn't a current answer for 7th/8th the Twins desperately need. I think their best shot at a guy like that internally at this point is pelfrey or may, but they need to trade for a guy most likely as wel, Benoit, Clippard, K Rod, Chapman (seriously, why not? He buys them another year too) etc
  4. I think changes should be made, but Tonkin has had a ton of chances and has done zilch in the majors to earn and keep a spot in the pen. Meyer really **** the bed, he had the perfect opportunity to come in and be that hard throwing 8th inning guy for this team in 2015 and instead he blew it. It's too early to close the book on Meyer, but as it stands now he looks like the most dissapointing Twins pitching prospect since Sean Bergman and Adam Johnson.
  5. I'm not sure how May is the 2nd best starter. I'd rank them currently as: Gibson Santana Hughes May Milone pelfrey nolasco
  6. the only way it makes sense to bring up Arcia to the OF is if you are going to platoon Hunter and Arcia,if not the at bats won't be there. He likely will be up with the Sano injury though, even if Sano isn't on the DL, the twins should use this as a good time to cut Nunez or send May down to AAA to stretch him out.
  7. He hit what should have been the game winning RBI.
  8. They need to get one ASAP, then get another one at the deadline
  9. I wouldn't mind going after Kazmir as well. Clear upgrade over most of the rotation, allows you to put Pelfrey in the pen where he could be a real nice asset IMO. Kazmir+Clippard would be a package I would be willing to give up a decent package for.
  10. I was just pointing out the price for phegley would be higher than a Santana or Arcia type. I think you could get clippard for a couple mid 20's prospects potentially. Maybe Polanco, Dean and one more guy in that range for Clippard?
  11. The A's aren't stupid, both Santana and Arcia are struggling big time and neither are a sure thing every day major league player. Phegley + clippard: the price probably starts with a guy like May or Hicks.
  12. Escobar has no range, what was a diving stop for him should have been much more routine for a guy like Santana. Escobar is fine as a UTIL guy, but shouldn't be getting more than 200-250 PA a year.
  13. Duensing at least has been very effective as of late, he would have been a much better option then Fien.
  14. Fien did a piss poor job of holding him on as well. The twins staff as a whole haven't been very good this year.
  15. The twins are the only team in baseball who feel the need to not only have 8 RP, but make sure 4 of their roles are "mop up men" Seriously, why not just put may in AAA and recall Vargas or someone who can actually come and PH for Suzuki at the end of a game? Instead you have 4 current mop up specialists you don't trust in big moments.
  16. So is this the place for some classic dead baby jokes or not?
  17. It's his decision who to bring into the game.
  18. It is his fault when he refuses to pitch his 2nd best arm in May. Make up whatever limbo excuse you want, May is an infinitely better option then Fien, especially fien in his last 7 outings who can't get anyone out.
  19. You bet your ass I would blame him, Fien shouldn't be brought into high leverage games at all anymore and probably should be DFAed
  20. at least you live to see another inning (and the top of the order get at bats for the twins at least) Instead you wave the white flag and trot out fien, who can't get anyone out these days.
  21. You can certainly pitch him one more inning against the best part of the A's lineup.
  22. He pitched one inning all freaking week, he was fresh! He didn't give up any "hard hits" in the 9th and gives you your best chance to win with the top of the A's order coming up.
  23. Perkins should have been back out in the 10th, or bring in your best arm: May. It was a foregone conclusion that the A's would beat Fien. Fien has been garbage since late June. Just More deadweight to cut from this bullpen.
  24. Him not PH for Suzuki is, him not bringing Perkins back out for the 10th is, him choosing fien over May is.
  25. Fien sucks, the 2nd best arm in that pen is May.
