  1. can't ground out every time Tulo would have hit it out
  2. Papelbon to the Nationals, for a AA guy who doesn't strike anyone out, 12th best prospect in a bad Nats farm AND the Phillies are paying 4 mil. another one that TR and co could have easily gotten. Hope there is a plan in place....the price for some damn good RP are dirt cheap.
  3. Call me old fashioned, but when a pitcher doesn't get out of the 6th I can't credit him as "getting it done"
  4. Hicks was always a 5 tool type guy, that helps a lot, the margin for error is so much smaller. The other 3 are more one tool guys which means they really need to mash (Vargas and Arcia) to make it, and it's why they were never as highly regarded. Santana needs to improve his D to where it can be, if he does that he will be fine, but that is a tall order as well.
  5. Is it TRs call even? I feel like it's more Molly's call. It's odd, Molly seems to trust the youngsters in the lineup but no trust in the youngsters in the rotation or pen. Wonder if Neil Allen is behind it a bit?
  6. I said before the season that I thought Pelf could be a real nice guy in the pen, I bet his fastball could hit 94/95 and has a decent enough second pitch to be effective. He wasn't pumped earlier in the year to be put in the pen, hopefully his attitude on that has changed. Especially since either way one team will likely give him a shot at being a starter next year.
  7. why didn't you say that before!?!??!??,?
  8. Molitor has done some good things this year, getting tossed in that situation was not one of them.
  9. I hope so, guy did solid by the twins this year in the rotation, but I think it's abundantly clear its time to put May back in the rotation and see what Pelf can do in the pen for us. He hasn't had meltdowns each start, but his last 8 or so starts I feel have ranged from mediocre to below average overall. Still can be a nice spot starter for us if need be as well. Free May!
  10. WOW, what an overpay for the Royals, Manea is a stud.
  11. Yeah that seemed odd, the Berrios national love has been pretty high as of lately. This deal will likely turn out to be worse for the Rockies then the Johan one was for the Twins. At least the Twins got a little bit of major league value for Johan.
  12. No but he is higher on him then both MLB.com and BP.Also h is results this year have been subpar, 6.1 k/9? not good.
  13. I highly doubt Reyes is going to bring back 2 really good prospects, I would be shocked if he can get one of those, and am guessing its closer to a top 10 guy instead of a top 5 guy (unless money is involved or another bad contract) Reyes is a good player still but that contract is brutal, I want him on the Twins, but only if they can ship over Nolasco's contract in return.
  14. But that would involve taking the payroll into the top 50% of teams in the league, no? Pohlads clearly have no intention of doing so, and Ryan clearly has no intention of selling them on the idea of just trying this ONCE.
  15. The Blue Jays were actively looking for a buyer for Reyes for sometime, while I think he still has "value", 22 million is a vast overpay for him, even if it is just for 2 more years after this year. That is still 44 million a team can't spend elsewhere the next 2.5 seasons.
  16. He might be the best all around player in baseball not named Trout.
  17. Not sure, but it has happened 10+ times the past couple days, usually isn't the "first" ad, happens after a couple minutes
  18. McCutchen is on pace for a hall of fame career. I would be quite ok with that for Mr. Buxton.
  19. No doubt in my mind that Terry Ryan absolutely dropped the ball on this one. He had a chance to get an elite SS (something the Twins have never had) and not give up the farm to do it. Instead, its just business as usual at Twins way, why try to win world series when you can continue to just have a below average payroll and sort of compete every once in a while. I thought the new stadium was supposed to make the Twins one of those teams that would "go for it" and compete with the big boys? Sadly, I feel this will be the continued course until the Pohlads give up the team. Conservative, Conservative, Conservative.
  20. Huh? The deal Toronto gave up wasn't even close to that. MAYBE one of Gibson OR Berrios and a Gonsalves type would have been closer in value.
  21. Not playing Escobar at SS is one of the things Molitor is doing right IMO.
  22. Yeah, you just compare him to Ozzie Smith defensively.
  23. Brock thinks Escobar is some great SS, so yeah, not shocking. Gonsalves is a solid, but not great prospect anyways.
