  1. Castro looks like a disaster currently, but he would be a good buy low candidate, with that said, the Cubs really have no reason to move him for pennies on the dollar currently.
  2. All this talk about the trade deadline brings up thoughts on who the Twins have traded, (or let walk) in the past several years, figured it would be a fun excersize to put together an ideal "ex-Twins" lineup along with a A-F scale on how good of a player I currently view them/miss them: I am 100% positive I am missing some key names, so feel free to add your own. DH- Ortiz B+ C- Ramos B 1b- Morneau C- Injuries 2B: Casilla? F SS: Hardy C 3B: Valencia? D- OF- Gomez A OF- Span B+ OF- Cuddyer C- RP- Neshek- A- RP- Guerra- C+ RP- Manship- C RP- Latroy Hawkins- C+ SP- Liriano A+ SP- Worley C- SP- Garza D+ SP-Lohse F SP- Dickey C-
  3. I don't see how people can just assume this.
  4. Fun fact: Ozzie Smith shouldn't be in the hall of fame. Fun fact: Escobar is not good enough to be an everyday player.
  5. Gonzalez would be an interesting target, of course Hunter would be out of a job, but that's probably fine. And Arcia suddenly becomes more expendable as well to help upgrade other areas (Rosario probably as well) If the price was right I would be for it.
  6. Bonus: 36 SB and 4 CS over the last season and a half, I think he could be a great mentor for base running to the youngsters, something this team desperately needs as well.
  7. The only part of that sentence that is true is bolded. His zero range defense alone close the Twins the first Perkins blown save.
  8. Not only that, but since the Twins are in the wild card spot, that means their waiver slot will be behind all the teams chasing them, the odds of a Benoit, Zeigler, Papelbon etc not getting claimed before there spot is almost nil, the teams behind them know what the Twins need, so they would be blocking every good RP out there. Waiting for August is a disaster waiting to happen.
  9. They needed RP help (and C help) yesterday, these trades should have been made weeks ago, waiting around in August may be to late.
  10. Brock, /rubs temples Escobar had his shot, it was 2014, he proved he can't play defense enough at the major league level to be a viable solution.
  11. Why hasn't that happened this year? Escobar is who he is, a util guy, Santana has the best chance to stick but looks lost all over the place this year and Polanco has some doubts about whether he can even stick at SS defensively.
  12. I would gladly give up Meyer for anyone that could help this club in 2015
  13. Berrios and Gonslaves would have been the most comparable.
  14. THAT would be dissapointing, especially after robbing the city of those tax dollars to build target field.
  15. If they fail to even bring in a middle of the road RP this deadline will be a disaster for TR. The price paid for Clippard was marginal, they can easily get a good 8th inning guy without giving up any of their top 10-15 prospects.
  16. Also why the hell would a rebuilding team like the Rockies want mauer anyways?
  17. Only 32, posted a 105 OPS+ last year and still a very good threat on the base paths (15 SB vs 2 CS this year) If they can unload nolasco as part of the deal I am all for giving up a couple solid but not elite prospects for him. Reyes Mauer Sano Dozier plouffe hunter Rosario hicks Catcher
  18. I would take Reyes in a heartbeat, maybe a good time to flip nolascos contract as well. Walker+Nolasco+Gonsalves for Reyes enough?
  19. You think that will stop Bert from using his broadcast booth as a platform to be included on this list?
  20. Fans always over-rate their own prospects, also what are the Met's concerned about in regards to young pitching? They are the one team in baseball that basically has 5 very good young pitchers currently at the major league level. The only way I would be against this move as a Mets fan is because it eats up $2 million, and they may not have any more payroll flexibility to add a much needed bat.
  21. Yeah, and to your point earlier, the Twins have a ton of C+/B- prospects, it's not going to hurt to get rid of a couple of them.
  22. In terms of value that is a spot on comparable and I would give that up to, especially when you consider the 1 million. Siegers has slightly less upside, but has shown results at a higher level. His nice BB/K ratio makes him a better bet to eventually make it as a bullpen guy or cheap 5th starter option someday.
  23. I posted this in the other thread. Gonsalves >>> Meisner He has outperformed him in the basic stats (ERA) and the peripherals (9.9k/9) (0.2 HR/9) and is a LHP to boot which helps a lot when it comes to valuing a guy this low in the minors. I don't know who the equivalent would be, but it would be someone "lower" regarded then Gonsalves in this system, especially when adding in the million the A's tossed into the deal.
  24. Gonsalves >>> Meisner
