    Fall TV

I disagree, the tv show was a completely different story, it existed in the same universe and had a few "winks" to the audience, but I thought it was very original, and very clever. This season takes place back in the 70's I believe, it will exist in the same universe but will be a completely different story. As far as "movie vs TV" it's hard to compare the two, I can say that Fargo was my favorite TV show last year and one of my favorite of all time. Ditto with the movie.
  2. Not a very inspiring first inning

I have a lot of faith in it, I believe the showrunners and everything are back. Season 1 had some amazing performances with Billy Bob Thorton and company, season 2 has some nice actors as well: Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst and Ted Danson? Color me very excited.

I assume you mean Randy Marsh?
  5. Again, there is nothing of substance backing this up. I want to avoid going down a "bombs" vs "guns" rabbit hole, but it is pretty much known that using and owning a "gun" is significantly easier then building and detonating a bomb successfully.
  6. Yeah, thats a totally fair assesment if you think he doesn't "get back to normal" which honestly none of us know at this point but is definitely a risk. My scenario laid out was assuming/hoping/praying to the baby jesus (mauer) that he would turn back into the 3.15 ERA/220 IP type for the next couple years. Yeah its more money then what we owe Gibson+Nolasco, but I think at the very very very least Shields Matches GIbson moving forward and Nolasco really has no place on this 25 man roster moving forward to be honest, not with Berrios, Duffey, May all deserving shots in the rotation.
  7. I think you are over-rating the Twins pieces in that trade quite a bit. Matz likely goes into 2016 as a top ten overall prospect, he has "ACE" type stuff and the ability to stick as a front end rotation guy, Plawecki has athe potential to be a a very good catcher. Either way, the Mets aren't going to give up those two guys for that package anyways. I would trade Dozier+Stewart for Matz in a heartbeat. I like Dozier, but Matz has the ability to be an ace type for a long time.
  8. Wieters isn't perfect, but he is worth the risk on a 2-3 year deal IMO. I would love some young promising catcher, I just don't see the scenario we get one without parting with a Kepler or Berrios type (Which i am very opposed to)
  9. Win today coupled with a Rangers win today would at least make tonight interesting. It's looking pretty damn bleak, but I guess this is why you play the games!
  10. Not totally shocking, the Astros are the ultimate hot/cold team this year. I also wouldn't be shocked if they manage to put up 4 or less combined runs the next two games as well.

    Fall TV

Ha, I find this to be not shocking in the least. I tend to steer away from network tv in general (though Hannibal was AMAZING, and Gotham has been pretty "solid") I saw the first season of Heroes which I thought was pretty solid, but it went down from there in a heartbeat, a half assed "reboot" struggling isn't a big shock.
  12. I think Norris will be tough to land, would love to have him, just don't see it happening without giving up a lot more. I think Escobar has earned 2016 to be the full time starter, I am a big fan of Desmond, but I think he manages to still get a 3-4 year deal on the market this off-season. Not sure I woudl want to go that high, and as mentioned, I think Escobar has earned his spot heading into 2016, if he totally bombs out, then you can look to trade for someone at the deadline or so. But heading into 16, I think you give him the spot. AJ is a no brainer as well if they don't decide to fix long term.
  13. For the record: I never wanted Gardy fired. I was mostly indifferent to Anderson, but Allen has done a nice job no doubt.
  14. Oct 2nd versus the Royals
  15. Good news: The Diamondbacks cut the Astros lead to 7-2. Bad news, the Astros have scored 14 straight since then. 21-2, maybe they have used up all of their runs this series?
  16. What Norris said is pretty insulting IMO
  17. Shields is only 33, I think he has some gas in the tank and was pretty damn good in 13/14. It's definitely a risk though, but it at least has a nice reward (versus handing out big money to guys like Nolasco who only profile as a back end guy anyways) Robinson can easily be replaced, but honestly, he fits in well, he doesn't need at bats every day and can field well and PR well. Yeah, Buxton prob starts at AAA and that might be the best spot for him. In that scenario I think you move Hicks to CF and let Arcia see if he can lock down a corner OF spot, if not, bring up Kepler until Buxton is ready and figure out everything at that point. You are right re: Hunter, that is a very real possibility, I just worry the Twins would wait far too long to pull the plug on him next year if he takes another step backwards. I sort of "half assed" the last half of the bullpen, Pressley was a guy I forgot about, and yeah, Cotts I believe is a FA anyways. So perhaps ORouke is the LOOGY, Pressly takes Cotts spot and we try to sign someone else?

    Fall TV

Let's avoid major spoilers etc, figured this would be a decent thread to make reccomendations for shows etc. You're the Worst- Hilarious show on FXX, can't reccomend it enough. Crude, but has a lot of heart to it. The Bastard Executioner- Kurt Sutter's follow up to S.O.A., 3 episodes in and I am about to drop it. It tries to be a more edgy and less smart GOT IMO and just comes off as more boorish and gross than anything else. Fargo- Season one was amazing, can't wait for season two to start. Homeland- Starts up soon again as well, seasons 2-3 were terrible, but last season might have been the best yet. Color me intrigued/interested. SouthPark- Still got it! Ash vs Evil Dead- Comes out around halloween, might be the first real reason to order STARZ ever. Bonus: NARCOS- Netflix seems to have hit a home run again, have seen the first 4 episodes and pretty impressed thus far.
  19. http://i.imgur.com/mCqdiqF.jpg But in seriousness, yeah his pitching down the stretch definitely cost this team at minimum a game or two, but I can't fault him for it. He was INJURED, even when he came back he clearly wasn't at 100% and shouldn't be the guy brought in for the most important at bats of the game. However, since the rest of the bullpen has been...um...well....medicore, he was forced to pitch in those games less thant 100%, while I think Molly should have went with Cotts or May instead of Perkins tonight, again its hard to fault him too much for that. The blame honestly hast to begin and end with Ryan who saw this pen was an issue all season long, and frankly IMO did too little too late to fix it. Jepsen was awesome, but they needed more!
  20. Going for it, yes. But it's not "going all in" IMO. In my scenario the only prospect you are giving up is Polanco, a nice prospect but someone you could survive without (esp with Escobar and Dozier playing like they have been) You give up Gibson as well, but get back Shields who more than likely would be an upgrade.
  21. Yeah, I like the idea of going after Clippard for sure, Storen if the price is right as well. Plawecki would be a nice get, I just don't see the fit. The Mets have Murphy this year as the 2nd baseman but I believe he is a FA this off-season, so maybe they need a 2B, I'm just not sure they would "trust" Polanco to be the man right away. Basically, I would be fine with about a dozen different catchers, we need a mid to long term guy in ASAP. I actually like Suzuki, but his arm just isn't up to snuff anymore, I think he would do great as a backup or even a 50/50 split type guy with someone like AJ. But going into 2016 with Suzuki only having Hermann or the likes backing him up? Not good.
  22. When I said facts is was meant to your comment of: "this eventually will bring about the criminalization of firearms all together" Also FWIW: yes in mass shooting type crime/atmosphere, the type of gun/magazine does in fact matter. There is a reason why columbine, aurora, oregon, Virginia Tech etc all involved automatic weapons. They are made to do the most damage in the least amount of time.
  23. I'm not sure rape is a good term to use, rape is a very serious thing and using it in a joking manner in this case is kind of offensive. (I'm not implying you are demeaning it or anything, just not a fan of people using that term like that) Yes, Shields did struggle this year, but it's hard to argue with the 4 years prior pitching for the Rays and Royals (3.17 ERA) 8.0 k/9, 227+IP each year. I believe that Shields is much closer to the 2013/2014 pitcher than the 2015 pitcher. Guys have bad years, I think he bounces back next year. Could I be wrong? Absolutley, but I think the risk is worth it in this case. Any "sure thing" 3.17 ERA 220+ IP type guy is going to be a ridiculous price to pay trade wise. Additionally in that deal I propose, the Twins get rid of the Nolasco contract (and thus open up a spot in the rotation for a Duffey/May and eventually Berrios, plus they get Benoit back as well, which suddenly gives them a nice start to a pen with Jepsen, Perkins and Benoit on the backend.
  24. Good point. Yeah, maybe they would have to go with 3 years, 30-33 million? The two years was thinking it would be a good chance for him to "rebuild" his value.
  25. No those literally aren't the same, and the only things proposed by the "liberals" thus far was reducing the high capacity magazine capabilities in fully automatic weapons (nothing about banning them completely) Again, this is just more baseless rhetoric that has no real facts behind it and is almost akin to something found on Curt Schillings facebook page.
