  1. What does that even mean? By that logic "everyone's stuff plays better in the NL"
  2. We have a hitting problem, as much as I liked Hicks and Rosario it should be noted that neither posted an OPS+ even at 100. As mentioned above, Puig also allows you to move one of your OF potentially to help in other areas. I would trade Kepler for Puig straight up in a heartbeat. The Twins would be foolish to turn an offer like that down.
  3. One other note: Puig also allows you to eventually trade one of Hicks or Rosario once Buxton is ready. I don't think it would cost Dozier to get Puig honestly, if Donny Baseball is back, Puig isn't back. So I guess if we are hoping for this pipedream we need to root for LA to make a run? Gibson+Arcia+B prospect for Puig?
  4. It would be amazing if TR let Vargas or Arcia go in order to give a spot to Evan Gattis
  5. Sid is a buffoon, someone being curt to him is a positive in my mind.
  6. Tejada never should have put himself in harms way (his teammate didn't help matters), **** happens, you can say you want this rule enforced but this has been going on for decades, this was pretty much the exact same thing that happened to Nishioka and you didn't hear Twins fans crying about it. Now, there is no way in hell Utley should have been called safe though, that was just silly. The suspension is stupid, but the Dodgers likely won't miss him anyways. If it were the Twins in that situation (down a run, double play, 7th inning, down 1 games to 0) I absolutely would want ANYONE on the Twins sliding like that to do whatever they could do to break up the double play. Tejada will be fine, people are acting like he is on his freaking death bed or something.
  7. If Beltre leaves (good chance he stays) then Gallo will be the every day 3B sooner rather than later, they likely wouldn't mind Plouffe as a plan B or to start 2016, but if he is just a stop gap they won't give up much. I would love to find a way to buy low on Profar though.
  8. Heyward is going to cost 8 years and 180 million or more. Hard. Pass. If you want to spend $180 million on a player, make it an ace.
  9. One hit wonder? Puig had a 4.1 WAR in 2013 and a 5.3 in 2014. In 2015 (his "bad year" which he played half the time) he still put up a 1.5 WAR Looking at the numbers his K% BB% were pretty close to the same, ditto with his GB vs LD vs FB numbers, his soft% was up a couple percent. However the big thing that sticks out is that his BABIP was down 70 points total, this to me indicates it was a healthy amount of bad luck and thus he is an excellent candidate to bounce back and post a .900+ OPS One other note: He can play all 3 OF positions as well, though you wouldn't want him to be your everyday CF, he could play there if needed for a few games. It would take more than Arcia to get him for sure, but I think the risk is well worth the potential reward, he instantly would become the clubs 2nd best hitter behind Sano IMO.
  10. Not school related, but sports related. This country is a ****ing joke when it comes to guns, is there anywhere in the US where you can go where you won't be within 50 feet of a fire arm? http://deadspin.com/fight-in-cowboys-parking-lot-ends-in-shooting-victim-f-1735992124
  11. Saying Puig is as big of a knucklehead as Delmon is simply false. Puig never hit an ump with a bat or went on an anti Semitic rant in the middle of Times Square. Fwiw: that one good year delmon had for the twins...you never heard about attitude etc, funny how those things only crop up when a guy is playing poorly.
  12. Cueto won't cost $150 millionPrice will cost 200 million
  13. The problem with plouffe is what contending teams actually need a third baseman? (Plouffe to a rebuilding team makes no sense) Yankees Orioles blue Jays Red Sox Rays? Nope. Likely won't trade in the central. Rangers Astros Angels A's Mariners Nope Dodgers maybe?
  14. What big games? Game one was the only "big game" of his career thus far. Past 5 years, 2nd lowest ERA in all of baseball. Not sure why everyone would refuse to have that on this roster....
  15. There were a lot more pieces in that trade, no?
  16. Puig has fallen out of favor with Dodgers management and it appears more and more likely that he could be dealt this off-season. Because of this his value will be quite a bit lower than what it would have been previously. The talent is all there, certainly, as a 22 and 23 year old, Puig did nothing short of mash everything thrown his way. There have been questions of his work ethic, attitude and butting heads with Donny Baseball. Perhaps a change of scenery to a team like the Twins with several other young Spanish speaking talented players would be the ideal fit for Puig? Pros: Extremely easy to digest contract (owed 6 mil a year until 2020) Even with his subpar 2015 his career OPS+ is 141 "trade value" is at a low point, perfect time to take the risk and bring him in. Cons: Potential "attitude issues" OF isn't the biggest area of need currently. Even with a deep and up and coming OF, the Twins need bats, they finished poor in every hitting category and Puig is exactly the kind of guy who can be a high to middle of the order bat for the next several years.
  17. Pros: Only 29 5 year contract likely gets it done. Last 5 seasons: 889.1 IP (3 seasons 210+ IP), 2.71 ERA, 1.082 WHIP even when pitching in a hitters park. Cons: Has struggled (4.76 ERA) since the trade. Prior to the trade to the Royals, Cueto was up to his old tricks with yet another sub 2.80 ERA season. For whatever reason Cueto has slumped in KC and many people including MLB Trade Rumors thinks this will drop his value from a 6 year deal to a 5 year deal. With that said, if the Twins can figure out how to trade one of Nolasco or Hughes contracts, Cueto becomes a no brainer IMO and gives the Twins a legitimate ace for the next several years (while not giving up 6-7 years) Whatever money that would be owed to him would be off the books way before Buxton, Sano, Berrios etc become free agents.
  18. Classic Souhan hatchet job! Once again proving that Michae Russo is the only one worth reading from that paper (and the Twins centric guys of course) I love how one of the reasons for not moving Mauer to RF is because it would "block" hunter, classic, just, classic.
  19. No...Berrios isn't equal, and you aren't even getting into the fact that Phils picked up a nice chunk of Hanmels contract and took 30+ million back in a worthless Harrison contract as well. Equal trade would have been: Polanco, Gordon, Stewart, Nolasco and potentially Kepler. Absolute no brainer IMO.
  20. The Cubs won 14 more games the the Twins, there were lots of reasons why this happened not just Arrieta.... (Not as big as you want to make it out to be)
  21. amazing! Side note: Not watching wild game?
  22. Not to mention the Orioles outlawed Arrieta from throwing a cutter, the Cubs knew exactly what they were doing in grabbing Arrieta, I once upon a time also wanted the Twins to buy low on him, just as I continue to want them to buy low on Tillman or Gausman
  23. Are you sure about that?
  24. No, but he turned them down and never considered them. He choose a team ran by Epstein.
