  1. I know a couple folks that did and currently work for the Twins org, I never heard a bad thing about Morneau and heard he was a nice guy all around.
  2. He lied and said that he had a concussion when he never did? I must have missed that somewhere. And if he did lie about having one when he did not, was it perhaps because he was looking for more drugs as he was tragically and clearly a drug addict?
  3. Color me pumped after one episode. Different "feel" overall as they expand the Fargo universe, but I have a ton of faith overall, I would grade the pilot as an A- overall as it didn't have a crazy ass ending like season 1 and their is still a ton of balls up in the air, but other than that it was pretty great (doesn't hurt that the AV Club has said the first 4 episodes are even better than season one) Was concerned that no one could top Billy Bob Thorton in season 1, likely, no one individually will but the overall cast for season 2 seems to be perfect/spot on, and this is before we even get to see Bruce Campbell as Ronald Reagan sometime this season!
  4. Yeah, I sorta think Bernie knows he really doesn't have a chance but is using the opportunity to further a few agendas/issues etc, I give him credit for actually being civil with everyone and defending Hillary. I still think he has some really good ideas, I just don't see how an independent would go with him over a moderate republican (not sure if there are any in the top 5 currently FWIW) but some of his stuff leans a little too far left for me to be honest (christ, now I feel old, lame and a "sellout")
  5. Yeah I wouldn't trade Berrios for "not" much, but IMO a proven young ACE like Gray would be one of the ones I would. 2.88 in nearly 500 IP by the time you are 25 in the majors isn't luck. Dude is legit.
  6. My rooting interests: Royals Mets (tiebreaker over Toronto because I live in NYC and enjoy title parades/chance to booze it around lunch time during a work day) Bluejays Dodgers Rangers Astros Cubs
  7. The whole freaking city went against Bartman, it wasn't a "few bad apples" Chicago fans are ridiculous, yeah the Cubs have sucked but good lord, you have the Bulls who won 6 titles in 8 years and had the greatest player of all time, you have the Bears who won in my lifetime and you have the Blackhawks who are the current NHL "Dynasty", for those .01% of Cubs fans who don't watch any other sports and are decent human beings? Good for them! But the rest? Give me a break. Wrigley is a dump and I will continue to say that, if I want to see some old falling down building for history I will go visit any other 100 sites/museums for free etc, I goto a ballgame to watch baseball, enjoy the company, have a couple beers in comfort. Not so I can sit in a dump that smells like urine, inbetween multiple 300LB "locals" in seats built for the apparently "average" five foot 2, 120 LB American back in the early 1900's and deal with a bunch of people in the neighborhood who can't handle their booze. Pass. Burn it to the ground and build a real stadium. #FreeBartman
  8. Yeah other than the lucky Liriano/Nathan/Boof trade the Twins have been quite poor at acquiring talent from other teams, they had an awesome talent in Gomez but foolishly gave him up because he didn't fit the "twins way" which 1 year later turned into Jim Hooey. In the meantime we gave up guys like Span, Gomez, Ortiz, Garza, Santana all with plenty of time left in the org for the cheap and got back a combined: 1 year of good play by Delmon Young, one average year of JJ Hardy and the only guy still around is Meyer who if he becomes an average bullpen arm it will be a "success" at this point.
  9. which likely means it's a fair trade. I would still try to add in Gibson and May instead of berrios. I'm not worried about losing Kepler overall. We have a lot of OF and Kepler seems to be closer to a good ceiling then great.
  10. My grandma was the only "good" Cubs fan I ever met, after her passing I really don't care if the Cubs ever win a World Series, if she couldn't see them win when she was alive, I don't care if they ever win (selfish I know) And mainly it's because of this: I have a hard time feeling bad for this generations Cubs after how they basically drove a decent man (bartman) into hiding for life, I can only imagine how brutal they would have been if social media existed today. I saw that some Cubs fan raises $5,000 to give bartman two tickets to a playoff game.what a ****ing joke, for what they did to that man and his family they should raise $5,000,000 for him before it's even close to even. That whole thing was embarrassing, only Boston fans would do the same. Also, wrigley is a dump, can't bulldoze it quick enough. I hope they lose to the Mets in 7 in the alcs.
  11. yup. That is pretty much the Crux of the issue, and honestly, hard to blame him. He has made a ton of money, had a great career and has two boys playing NCAA football, a one year 1-2 mil contract for a part time role almost seems like it wouldn't be worth it for him. If he wants a full time gig, great, he can likely find a couple teams who would offer that, but the Twins, should not.
  12. I mean trump is his own sort of beast, but yeah, I get the sentiment, it's sorta like "this guy is kind of a dick" I'm not a Hilary fan boy, but I will be damned, this debate made her look pretty good IMO, I am a little hesitate electing someone that old due to potential health/Alzheimer's/dementia in the 2nd term, but she is the best of the bunch IMO.(no current republicans in the top 5 seem worthy to have a shot IMO)
  13. I'm pretty damn liberal but good lord, Bernie sanders is so insanely unelectable he shouldn't even be on the stage. Some good ideas, but he doesn't stand a chance and his inability to comprise on anything makes him a bit of a blowhard.
  14. except for our RF this year....and who cares! The twins already have CF covered, all we need from him is to be + in RF.
  15. In a heartbeat. Berrios doesn't have ace upside (likely a good number 3)and Kepler is a solid but not elite prospect. People fail too much in love with prospects around these parts. Gray is an ace. I'd try to get Vogt while we are at it as well. Then I would trade Hicks and Gibson for Puig and call it an off season.
  16. Puig can't play defense? Wtf!
  17. Considering that the Twins have now been towards the bottom of the league year in and year out for the better part of two decades in terms of k rate, I would say that org philosophy has an awful lot to do with it. Even moreso when they ship out guys like Liriano and Garza both who had much better k rates then the rest of the staff, and choose to sign guys like Correia.
  18. When was the last instances of the Twins taking a hard thrower in the first couple rounds of a draft? Stewart? Hunt? Anyone else?
  19. It has nothing to do with his age, Sid has been a buffoon for 30+ years. Sorry, he doesn't get a pass from me because of his age, he is the one choosing to continue to work, thus he gets the praise or criticism as someone half or a third of his age would get.
  20. How about the 75+ they just studied of NFL players who died? Many of natural causes. To imply that someone would lie about a concussion is absurd.
  21. For years their strategy was to get "pitch to contact" guys, and continued to developed their pitchers in the org to do the same thing. It was actually quite hard to miss.
  22. Velocity isn't the issue and never has been the issue. The issue has been and has remained the fact that the Twins don't strike anyone out, in the rotation or in the pen. Up until very recently they actually pretty much exclusively looked for guys who could "pitch to contact", now that they are going after strike out pitchers they are already well behind the 8 ball and it will take several years for the minor leagues/org to catch up. How many guys have they passed in high rounds of the drafts over the years because "well he strikes a lot of guys out, but he walks too many" and gone with the Nick Blackburn type clones? The rotation is going to take time to develop/sign/trade for guys with decent K rates, but when it comes to the bullpen there is no excuse to be signing Boyer and Duensing types with their 4.5 k/9 rates.
  23. Nolasco, Santana, Hughes, all of those guys were 30 or very close to it when signed, obviously the Twins love to have some veterans on the staff, why not actually go out and get a great pitcher instead of a medicorce one for once? Yes, Cueto will be a risk, but there is a very good chance he still preforms as an ACE the first few years, even if he reverts to a 2/3 in the last 2 years it's still not a bad deal. Instead we are stuck with mid to back end rotation guys like Nolasco, Hughes and Santana for more money then it would cost to bring in Cueto.
  24. Because even with this down year he has a career 141 OPS+? Because he still has one of the best arms in baseball and is one of the better RF defensively in baseball? Because he put up 10 WAR in his first two seasons? Because he instantly becomes our 2nd best hitter behind Sano? Because he will only be 25? Because he is under team control until 2020?
  25. Dude, Cueto has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last 5 years! Certainly has been in the top 10 (even with the "NL" you have to admit having the 2nd lowest ERA over that time is impressive, especially pitching in a bandbox in Cinci) I would prefer Greinke or Price as well, but those aren't happening, Cueto actually has a shot (even if its 2%) of happening.
