  1. Yup, just look at all the sandy hook thruthers that are out there!
  2. False Flag! False Flag!!!!!!!111!!!!!
  3. Again, states with a strict "gun control" policy doesn't really fix the issue when someone can simply drive a few minutes (or hours) to a neighboring state and buy any gun they want at a gun show. This has been shown time and time and time and time and time again in Chicago (Indiana) Change needs to come from a federal level. It's going to take a ton of work from everyone, but I think a good start would be to close the gun show loophole and make a mandatory national background check for all new purchases moving forward.
  4. Agreed, it was going fine, nobody was bickering etc at some point you guys need to allow some free form discussion to form
  5. I would bet Stanford as well, it's easy to call Stanford's big wins "flukey" while ignoring the Spartans and one of the most flukely wins of all time against a mediocre Michigan team. The big ten is terrible. I would love to see Iowa sneak in, just to get beat by 50
  6. Why was the Terry Ryan/Plouffe/RBI thread deleted? It wasn't getting out of hand and brings up a legitimate concern/issue. It seems that ANYTHING that is even close to negative gets instantly deleted, especially in regards to the Twins "brain trust" Disappointing.
  7. It's going to take A LOT to fix it, however the politicians are the ones who have the ability to at least TRY to make a difference, they have shown indifference time and time again anytime anything even resembling "control" or "background checks" comes up.
  8. He makes good points, but I just can't bring myself to respect the Dalai Lama due to his covering up of rapes/molestation and his misogynistic views and behavior. Call it "sensationalism" if you will, but the Daily News brings up a great point, THESE politicians have failed to do anything to even try to fix the problem.
  9. The Twins tendered contracts to everybody, at this point there isn't any room for these type of players.
  10. For generations people were also against gay marriage and GLBT community in general, we as a country were able to come a long ways in the last 10 years or so. I believe we can come a long ways on this issue as well. The problem is the unintelligent people who believe the NRA and politicians lies of "Obama is coming to take your guns" Which he has never tried, or thought to do. Every time even background checks get brought up, the far right leaders and NRA cry "This is step one in taking your guns and your rights!" instead of actually telling something that resembles the truth of the situation. How ANYONE can be against background checks and closing to gun show loophole is just mind boggling to me.
  11. It has worked before in issues of public safety (alcohol, tobacco etc) Yes, the NRA is a huge problem, but in this country the power will always belong to the people, if enough people voice opinions/vote and we get some fearless politicians in office, change can happen.
  12. Yeah the Chicago situation is especially frustrating, you can drive like 15 minutes to Indiana and buy whatever assault rifle etc you want with ease at a gun show etc This sort of change has to come from the federal level at some point.
  13. Don't give the majority of the country the right to squash that law then. They have done it before in terms of DUI law (legal limits etc)
  14. I said if it can work in New York, it could work anywhere. Also, you don't know they won't make an impact until you try, at least TRY to do something.
  15. Every little bit helps, you gotta start somewhere. Closing the gun sale loophole and making background checks mandatory are a good start. If you are caught buying a gun illegally or selling a gun illegally (i.e. from some dude's trunk, house, etc) without the proper background check then you get 2 years in jail minimum, no questions asked. Again, it worked for New York, it can work anywhere. Obama put it best: people who are on the do not fly list can currently legally and very easily go buy an assault rifle. Something doesn't compute there.
  16. So leftist that they endorsed Romney vs Obama!
  17. Noted, I didn't think it was to far out of line, and me and Lev are "fine" and have had these discussions before, but will keep an eye on it in the future.
  18. Nailed it. For the people who say this "couldn't possibly work" do a little digging on what happened in NYC once they enforced tough penalties for gun ownership (illegal) and illegal dealing. Pretty sure the gun death rate went down several times the murder rate was cut in half.
  19. I don't think its an overnight solution, and yes it would take time, however if you close the gun show loophole, and make it ILLEGAL to sell to anyone without a background check, I think you could see some results somewhat early on, and yeah, Im fine with it taking decades, this isn't about my generation, its about my future kids and their kids generation, isn't what this is all about? Also, you are correct, guns aren't the only way to commit mass murder, they make it a helluva easier though, especially assault rifles and the like.
  20. GOP presidential candidates offer prayers — not solutions on gun control — after San Bernardino massacre
  21. Confirmed, the shooter was a US citizen and an employee at the location, they had AR-15's, I know you like to throw out. Feel free to tell us how gun control is a pointless endeavor in America.
  22. I do a combination of research and gut, I read a couple different sites and pay for the draftkings package on rotogrinders.com (for baseball only). For baseball the data is invaluable I'd say its 80% research 20% gut for me, for NFL it comes down to more "gut" and its about 50% research and 50% gut (guesses on who will be undervalued and owned)
  23. In my experience it's not sketchy at all, the companies pay you out within 24 hours with no issues whatsoever. The "insider info" stuff is sketchy, but that is why you should play the large guaranteed prize pools, where there are so many users that any "advantage" won't be as damaging or large overall. Stay away from head to head matchups etc as that is where it can bite you in the ass (if certain users have data on who you pick etc) I don't think it will go away for good ala Poker Stars, too many leagues, teams, and big companies are either investors (NBC, Time Warner, Comcast, KKR) or have valuable partnerships (Disney, MLB, NFL, NBA etc) It just needs some regulation IMO. As far as your friends who haven't had luck, nothing is fool proof, if it was we all would never lose, however with the slight amount of research and learn/follow some strategy's you give yourself an advantage over a good chunk of users who simply just throw darts at a board more or less, in that case you should be able to at least break even long term and should end up "up" overall. You won't get rich off it, but you won't lose your ass if you play smart (much like Poker strategy long term)
  24. I was being sarcastic with the refugee comment.. They said earlier today they were highly likely to be American citizens and it wasn't "terrorism"
  25. I mean LA is a big place, we were in Irvine and Santa Monica, my brother lived in San Bernadino last summer though. The sad thing is, this **** is happening every week, throw a dart on a map and it will probably happen there.
