  1. so a future 45/45 hit and power tool with average other tools doesn't seem to add up. I'm not sure McDaniel understands future ratings or potential. I'm under the impression that those future ratings are supposed to be ceiling potential and the ratings he gives reads more like a utility infielder at best. You don't pay a guy $4 million to be a future utility infielder.
  2. well it does work for some but you also have the Tony Gwynn Jr's and Dale Berra's of the world (among others) that didn't live up to their father's playing careers
  3. Wow! I did not see that coming, it's kind of a trend this year so why not jump on the bandwagon of calling up top prospects from AA!
  4. I'm hoping for Either Austin Rei or Blake Trahan with our 3rd rounder, Matuella would also be a value pick but it scares me that no one has picked him up yet so either he's unsignable, the injury's worse than we thought, or scouts saw what I saw and believe he's gonna be constantly hurt.
  5. well that sucks, you don't draft a reliever to be a starter 6th overall
  6. Jay is pretty much the only guy I would be disappointed with
  7. Damn, 4 picks in and all my guys are gone......
  8. That's my board too although I would maybe consider Aiken instead of Jay and Rodgers and Bregman are really close to me
  9. This has to be the weirdest draft ever. When was the last time that this many relative unknowns have risen this late. Also I can't ever remember a college relief pitcher with the belief that he can start ever in consideration to go top 5 much less #1 overall (Jay). I'm fairly in tune when it comes to draft prospects and most years I usually know players up until the 3rd round at times but I had never heard of this guy until recently and he's in consideration for the #3 pick?! Crazy!
  10. I've been saying this for a while, his delivery lends itself to injury. He puts way too much torque on his shoulder and back as he follows through. I wouldn't touch him with our pick, I'd maybe take a flier if we were sitting at the back of the 1st but he's pretty risky to me
  11. I'm gonna choose to blame Bill Smith......totally all his fault
  12. Man, I go MIA for a few weeks and the whole draft class blows up, what happened?
  13. I'm not really that dedicated
  14. Just a theory but guys that are over matched in the minors might see electric stuff and think "there's no way I'm gonna get a hit" and the might just sit on a lot of pitches where as guys in the Majors see that kind of stuff frequently and are therefore more confident to swing
  15. I was furious at the Gutierrez, Hicks, and Bashore picks I wanted Conner Gillespie and Brett Lawrie bad. However I did think that Levi Michael was gonna be a good pick and Shooter Hunt looked like a steal. You win some, you lose some. The Twins however seemed to lose them all
  16. well it seems like Terry Ryan has been stuck in the mid 90s for a while now so it makes sense.....
  17. Gonsalves was my first thought too. I could also see Kohl Stewart having a break out year as well, as a top pick he's suposed to do well so it might not exactly be "break out" but he was rather pedestrian last year and slipped in several rankings. I think he begins to throw more sliders and his K numbers will go up
  18. A new tweet by Berardino says that Rangers have no knowledge about winning the bid. Either way I'm not upset, I thought he could be a good bullpen arm but I wasn't expecting much more.
  19. Yea, there's a reason that the Royals are looking to upgrade from Aoki
  20. I agree with Seth, just because he was an in house guy doesn't mean he's Gardy. In fact I've read that Molitor was like the Black Sheep of that clubhouse because he had a different mentality than Gardy and his guys. They are not the same and we shouldn't lump them together like that. The other point about an ace is a good one but Bumgarner is an unfair comparison. He just got done dominating a World Series like we've literally never seen before. He singlehandedly won that series and he is one of the top 5 pitchers in all of Baseball. Every team in the majors would love to have a guy like that on their team but they don't exactly grow on trees. Plus the argument doesn't really hold up with anyone else. Remember that Philly's rotation a few years back that was supposed to dominate everyone, didn't exactly work out. One of the best pitchers in the majors this year was Yu Darvish and his team almost was the worst in MLB. I agree that Starting pitching is important and an ace is important as well but history suggests that it's not the only thing
  21. I have a good feeling about this year, maybe not playoffs good feeling but the next step, 2016 is our year. I fell like we resign Neshek and in 2016 we have a shut down 7, 8, and 9 of Burdi, Neshek, and Perkins. I agree that Gibson becomes our ace. I think Mauer will actually take a step forward, after another year removed from his concussion he will pick things back up just like Morneu did, I just hope it's not for another team. Plus his salary was already made up in Jersey sales and marketing, he's still the hometown hero and he is still the most popular player to casual fans. I disagree with Pinto as well, Suzuki is not a long term solution and he's getting older, they'll take the lesson learned from trading Ramos and hesitate to do it again.
