  1. Post deadline call ups taglines: "The Buck. Stops. Here. For Good. Hopefully." and "Golly."
  2. Yeah, go watch Buxton run around and Sano scorch baseballs. See how strong this young sapling of a team is. I live far from baseball stadiums AND the ocean. As Mark Twain said, live like all your internet friends are watching, you can dance if you want to, and if you are in the west, go.
  3. I like Kintzler. He brought some good mojo to the team. I will be rooting for he and the Nats to knock off the Evil Empire West. The chance to give this team a shot in the arm might have slipped by when the Garcia trade fell through originally. How deflating--we're getting help...no we're not, and the guy hits a grand slam that night. The tailspin started, and after that the mojo was gone. My only hope is that young Byron Skywalker is ready to embrace his destiny.
  4. Sounds a bit like a Tyler we already have in low-A, but you can never have enough spare Tylers.
  5. I looked at his season stats today. They are freakishly close to his career averages. Not sure a "hot" streak is in the cards.
  6. Deja vu to last night...or last year? Snatching defeat from the jaws of victories is so last year.
  7. Yeah, I'm confused about Barnes and Sammons. I thought they've already started their careers in E-town.
  8. I like that Fangraph comp to Radke, although I have no idea how realistic/likely that is.
  9. After Chattanooga's 21 inning game, acquiring a fresh arm is convenient...almost too convenient. This seems solid enough. Probably more than I expected.
  10. Chattanooga fell behind by a run in the top of the first-on an error. Tied it with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. And then another 11 and 5/6 innings happened. Sorry. Had to type it to believe it. What a sport.
  11. Van, I think plinks could be the metaphorical game representing pitching prospects. They all look good when you drop/draft them. A few bad bounces off those pegs and your plinko has caromed far from the "Kershaw" slot you were aiming for, and ended up in the Kohl Stewart slot. Come on, man! It's practically a straight shot. Aim better next time.
  12. The one with the yodeling mountaineer who climbs too close to the sun and then falls off a cliff. Metaphor for the Twins?
  13. Thanks for the write-up. Not that MY confidence has anything to do with anything, but I went to sleep before the eighth, feeling quite a bit better about the chances of a win, then I did the other night, when I went to sleep the moment Rogers got Turner to 0-2. I'm pretty wishy washy about what I want with this team. I guess my fantasy scenario is to trade off guys who won't be here next year, while the Twins continue to play meaningful baseball. Whatever the case, I don't want to see these guys quit. Yeah, it's a longshot, and making the playoffs might not amount to a championship...this year. Man, that run in 06 was fun though.
  14. Was this planned for Buxton? I thought they skipped the rehab assignment. Regardless, good game for him.
  15. I Googled "Joe M" to find out who might eventually show up in these conversations. Joey Martarano is an Idaho kid who was maybe a top 100 draft pick type a couple three years ago. He's from the same town (or the next one over) that produced Harmon. He chose to play football at Boise State, but wisely retired and took the Cubs money. He's in rookie ball now, with much less fanfare than Tim Tebow. Googling "Josef M" yields a result I'd hope doesn't make an appearance in these conversations. Oysters--smoked or breaded and deep-fried. Nature's Viagra.
  16. *I'm making this up, but it sounds good to me. The Braves opened the bidding at Del Rosario, the Twins countered with a GCL prospect, and they settled on Ynoa. Sad to lose Huascar, but glad Eduardo is still in the system.
  17. Berries after Santana gets traded: https://media0.giphy.com/media/6bXwBcxB0KPcs/giphy.gif
  18. Ditto on only following baseball. But, the local newspaper doesn't even print box scores anymore, while they did print a blurb about the Chargers third string quarterback. Maybe that's why I don't read the paper. Anyway, this is the point in the story where Obi-Wan, Gandalf, and Dumbledore die (vets get traded) and our young heroes take their lumps, on their way to eventual (not this episode) victory.
  19. I wonder if other GM's are on the phone going NOW will you trade me that Santana/Kintzler package? I dunno, maybe the Garcia move was a hedge on that. Probably not. Regardless, Molly needs to find somebody else he trusts in the late innings. Does Curtiss have the mettle to move up straight to the 8th or 9th inning? Not having Garver or Vargas in favor of extra relief was bone-headed for this NL series. Does it send a subliminal message to the starting pitching staff when they do that?
  20. This feels like the scene where the scrappy hero finally gives in to overwhelming opposition. Then somebody, maybe Sean Astin, gives an inspirational speech and the hero continues on. Bad karma for Dave Roberts, being such a stickler. I hope Rosario sticks it to them today.
  21. The Seattle Marines? Hmm. How about the New York Mehs? The Milwaukee Brewders, like brooding about whether or not they are any good?
  22. If he wants to learn to call games and field the outfield like an MLBer, that's where he should be.
  23. Rogers was up 0-2 on Turner when I turned it off. Glad I didn't stay up any later. The old "which 4/5th starter to shelve." Honestly it's just throwing a dart to guess who might be most due for a clunker.
  24. As someone who doesn't really know a thing about these prospects, I'll throw Ynoa in the basket with Adrian Salcedo. I remember his upside well. Ok, now hit me with your stats that show how Ynoa and Salcedo or nothing like each other.
