  1. I don't know, and don't particularly care, either. I assume any collection of two or more people will have a spectrum of viewpoints on any given subject; achieving consensus takes real effort and at very least this has encouraged people to consider the 'why' involved. That would align well with my definition of moral progress. I'd be surprised if it aligns well, or at all, with others and won't be too disappointed to find out it didn't.
  2. As far as I can tell, the sacrifice seems to be on the part of people who don’t have a game to commentate on tonight. I am not sympathetic to their pain.
  3. Yes. And the other teams who made a free choice. And the NBA. And the WNBA. And the NHL. And all those who can stand and make their own choices, whatever they may be, without castigating the choices of others.
  4. With the giant cardboard heads as filler.
  5. Seems pretty likely COVID will render these concerns moot.
  6. The team with the best control of COVID spread wins. That could take out an entire squad if it infects enough people.
  7. Probably best to wait for the diagnosis before freaking out.
  8. I would expect there would be insurance in that case, wouldn't there?
  9. But back to the topic; Who’s on first, then?
  10. Good thing there was John, George, and Ringo. Although Pete Best might dispute the latter.
  11. Kid just can't catch a break. I blame Peter, Paul, and Mary.
  12. What’s wrong with Peter, Paul, and Mary?
  13. As long as we're asking, are there any PoC who post on this site? I have maybe met one or two at the events I've attended, but couldn't swear to that. Feel free to PM me if you are uncomfortable saying so in the public forum. Much appreciated. No nefarious purpose I'm aware of; just really curious.
  14. Brock, I would estimate that the potential flaw in your reasoning is an assumption that people want change. I don't know that this assumption is true. It doesn't look like it, at first (and maybe second and third) glance.
  15. Again, it is fascinating and baffling that the people who just want to talk about baseball are ignoring the several thousand baseball threads available here and jumping on this one. Almost as if they cared about something other than baseball.
  16. This whole thread has been quite instructive.
  17. FWIW, I think Kepler is good if he learned something from this. I despise politics and resent every minute it takes from my life. But I have learned that I ignored it at my own peril, and the peril of those I care about. So I swallow the resentment and try to do what I can to help. I believe that is the responsibility of being a citizen and enjoying the rights and privileges thereof.
  18. Some quotes from Dr. Fauci about the return of sporting events this summer. https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/29038491/dr-anthony-fauci-promotes-single-site-fan-free-return-sports
  19. First person I thought of. I guess also Bobby Darwin.
  20. They probably don't swing at a bad pitch this year.
  21. PBS streaming Ken Burns' Baseball for free. https://www.pbs.org/show/baseball/
  22. So, if one believes this is true for Domingo German, it’s unlikely anyone’s suspension will be reduced to count the missed games. Including Pineda. https://nypost.com/2020/03/14/coronavirus-to-delay-domingo-germans-return-to-yankees/
