  1. Sal Butera's father, no doubt.
  2. Per Gleeman: Rod Carew through age 33: .395 OBP, .444 SLG, .839 OPS Joe Mauer through age 33: .394 OBP, .449 SLG, .843 OPS
  3. Thanks. This procedural stuff can get really wonky.
  4. Albers optioned back to Rochester. Apparently the waivers were required because he has a sufficient amount of service time?
  5. It is worth recalling that Allen helped Santana fix a flaw in his delivery last year, which helped Ervin quite a bit during that chase for the wild card.
  6. Ryan O'Rourke on his way up.
  7. Kurt Suzuki on 48-hour trade waivers. http://www.twincities.com/2016/08/13/minnesota-twins-kurt-suzuki-placed-on-trade-waivers/
  8. Jimmy Dean thought it was okay. Richard Dean Anderson even thought it was a good middle name. An effective lefty long reliever is a good thing. Still, right now nobody gets a better than 50% chance.
  9. I imagine that's why it's called a forum and not a newscast.
  10. I hear Rick Anderson is available.
  11. In my profession, the official training programs don't really do a heck of a lot; it's been tutelage from the people who have been around a long time that actually transfers knowledge. I doubt this is an isolated example.
  12. Rain seems to be letting up. At least according to the dog-o-meter.
  13. I really miss Shakey's. I may need to get some stem cells and clone one.
  14. I'll bring Sad Panda along to drown our sorrows together.
  15. That would make me very sad. Olympian sad.
  16. Off-topic: Do we have any notion of a date for the Pub crawl yet?
  17. Do you have to bring your own broom?
  18. Which reminds me of Cary Grant's last film, 'Walk, Don't Run!'
  19. I'll pay attention to Track & Field, and things like fencing and archery. Some of the equestrian events are cool. I really don't have time to hunt for the telecasts, though.
  20. Let me be the first to vote no, thank you. He's got no ties here and we have Sano, Vargas, and maybe Park and Palka to get playing time before the end of the season.. Sounds like the Marlins are considering it, and I suppose the Rangers and Mariners might as well.
  21. I still have vinyl records around; even some 78 rpm's inherited from my parents. My brother is slowly transferring things to digital formats. My favorites? Probably the Alan Sherman, Smothers Brothers, and Homer and Jethro collections. My first computer, I'm squeamish to admit, was an IBM PCjr, purchased at a Dayton's warehouse sale. After that I got an Apple ][ and never looked back. Fries are good; chips (as in fish and...) are better.
  22. What many people don't know about Charo is that she is also an amazing classical Spanish guitarist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmNPXqG6ovg
