  1. A collection of wit surrounding the recent unpleasantnesses in the courtrooms: http://politicalpunchline.com/trump-crimes/ Hard to pick out a favorite. MAGA = My Attorney Got Arrested is a contender.
  2. No. There were some waiver-claim shenanigans between the Reds and Twins when we tried to remove him from the 40 back in March, but ultimately that's what happened.
  3. Any batter would be scared to face that Joker rictus.
  4. Not among the prophecies found in this book, sadly:
  5. Black leather and a Harley does tend to keep the riffraff at a respectful distance.
  6. Oh wait, here it is already: https://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/2018/08/22/2415138283/1534969718918/asset_1800K.mp4
  7. It'll be on https://baseball.theater/ soon enough. I hate to totally spoil the surprise for ya. Just to tantalize, though: they had two ChiSox baserunners in the vicinity of third base. Guess how many outs they notched.
  8. Only 2:20 into the game and already completed 6 innings. What's the record for quickest major league game?
  9. OK, so it's official now. No one on this team knows how to play this game. Molitor needs to be overturning desks in the clubhouse area after the game. Bet he doesn't.
  10. Another no-doubter homer for the Sox. Could see Gibson mouthing "Wow." I'm uncertain whether he was reacting to the distance the ball went or to his climbing ERA. "That ERA sure got outta there in a hurry." The bling-neckwear the Sox give to their bashers would be endearing at Cedar Rapids, I suppose.
  11. Played left field, badly? No, assuming you mean running out of his helmet, I think I saw the same behavior by him a few games ago. I guess it's a thing now.
  12. Grossman wasn't gonna catch that'un by Anderson.
  13. It too often winds up being bARF, where dogs are concerned.
  14. Not the best route ever in RF by Cave, on that double by Sanchez. Probably couldn't have come close to catching it, but I dislike watching the glove hand flail when the ball's 30 feet away; it doesn't exactly scream "good fielding judgement".
  15. Yes. And yes. It's kind of messed up, in that regard.
  16. I combined the best features of fWAR and bWAR and came up with fuBAR.
  17. If you go back through popular baseball publications over the past 130 years or so, two themes never change: 1) there's not enough pitching, and 2) the new selfish players of today are in it only for the money.
  18. Having a different pitcher start an inning adds essentially no extra time to the game. It's the mid-inning reliever trotting in and then getting his allotment of warmup pitches that bogs the game down. If anything, not trying to wring 6 or more innings out of your starter reduces the chance of needing a mid-inning phone call to the bullpen.
  19. Clicked like for "whomever". What a classy site!
  20. I don't think minor leaguers on the 40-man roster can be free-agents except through major league service time. With limited minor league options, that time can be lengthy but not infinite. The Twins had the choice to retain Rodriguez's services this way.
  21. You have to either love baseball, or hate it, to endure watching T ball.
  22. Since his big night against Lakeland, Ben has been a little quieter at the plate. In 8 games, he's batting .227. He's walked 3 times plus a HBP in the 26 PA, and has a double and a triple among his 5 hits, so his OPS in this span is a perfectly respectable .710. If this is what constitutes "quiet" for him, we'll take it.
  23. And thus another game thread comes to a screeching halt. My work here is done. Good night.
  24. So did I, but then you said, "control freak who?".
