  1. Has he ever done an overlay of an ineffective pitcher to show why? It's fine, and fun, to see a curve and a fastball (or whatever) diverge, but probably that looks similar no matter who is throwing. Or, maybe not?
  2. Wow, I just looked at how Max Fried was acquired. Truly terrible trade by San Diego, getting Justin Upton for one season before free agency.
  3. Really extreme home/road splits for him this season - isn't Arizona still a hitter's park? Just SSS I guess. But his road numbers don't give much encouragement that he'll do well for his next team.
  4. When you are down by 11 runs in the sixth you lose 99.9% of the time no matter what your offensive plan is. Is this really a hill to die on? The offense's strategy did not lose this game. Why not celebrate that this team does not quit? They fought back, and you are quibbling about how they went about it.
  5. We lose 12-7, and Twins hitting homers is the problem. Hope for a better game outcome tomorrow.
  6. Good night, all. Thanks for keeping it sane.

  8. I've spotted at least two differences so far this inning.
  9. I missed seeing any mention - why was Polanco removed from the game?
  10. We have successively substituted Sano -> Schoop -> Cron at first base, via forceouts, and I'm not sure in any of these cases whether the baserunning potential has increased or decreased. They're all pretty slow runners, I'm saying.
  11. New plan. Four runs the next two innings, instead of three. Allows a cushion, as well. LOL, I'm talking about an insurance run, when trailing 12-6. This team.
  12. PS, sorry, that GIF hurts my eyebones too.
  13. http://78.media.tumblr.com/acc512795be2bac2a2462753a5f8fb9d/tumblr_oynyiz5VdN1u1ljrzo1_540.gif I don't care. This team is fun to root for.
  14. We're keeping politics off the site for the time being, in case you hadn't heard. Oh, and:
  15. I took the reply as a joke in return, FWIW. But if his joke wasn't funny enough for you, I could try putting up the ChiefSignal and have him come post some real good ones, I'm sure. Until Chief gets here, here's one: I asked Max Kepler how many Germans it takes to change a lightbulb? He said, jost vun, becoss ve are efficient, und also not wery funny.
  16. If a player is taken on a waiver claim, as is the case here, the new team picks up the contract. It's only if the player passes through waivers, and the current team then chooses to release him, that a new team can pick up a bargain. / edit - of course, for anyone on a MLB-minimum contract, such as Mejia has, the business of what get pro-rated is moot. If eventually he were simply cut, and then someone else picked him up, everything is based on the minimum and what remains of the season.
  17. There have definitely been players who've gone back and forth. As long as there's room on the 40-man roster, anyone can spin the roulette wheel! (I think strictly speaking, it's not even necessary to put the player on the 25-man, you could just start a new waiver process - but as a practical matter, perhaps, This Is Just Not Done.)
  18. With most players, this sort of thing seems like Results Merchanting. With Trevor, I tend to think we are reacting to something actually different in him from one day to the next. If he can bottle the Lurch persona, and bring that to the mound every time, he could be pretty good, I think. Trust your stuff and go after them, is a less pop-psych way of expressing it, I suppose.
  19. In fairness, one must conversely also acknowledge that Kevin Gausman is he.
