  1. Guess a win's gonna have to be a walk-off.
  2. Why am I not invited to the meetings where these single-voice TD decisions get made?
  3. Pitch count's getting pretty high for May. Eleven, I think. How much longer will Rocco leave him in? I think his previous season-high was one.
  4. Getting to their BP has been the challenge, tonight.
  5. I never let the truth stand between me and a good schtick.
  6. Something seriously, seriously wrong with those.
  7. Cave rhymes with bad decision making.
  8. That's E, which rhymes with Free, which is what first base was to Acuna. Also PB, which also rhymes with Free, which is what second base became to him. Harper needed to sit on Albies, to counter that. Instead, he got sat on.
  9. Soroka's only at 76 pitches yet. Let's hang a complete-game loss on him, shall we?
  10. It's August and we're scoreboard watching. Life is good. Two chances per night for that sweet, sweet chicken dinner?
  11. Indians sacrified the runner to third, for the first out. Kipnis grounded out weakly, for out #2. Fingers still crossed... / ninja'd a bit, but hopefully some worthwhile detail contained...
  12. ... which rhymes with juice, which is what Kepler applied to that baseball.
  13. Send in Tailor as a pinch-runner, then. You can do that as the batter rounds first base, right?
  14. Slouch rhymes with couch. Castro sat on Soroka, but then Acuña sat on him. Couch rhymes with slouch, which rhymes with couch. Kepler sat on Soroka reaaaaal good. Oh, and... KEPLER !!!!
  15. All right, I'm just following the printed play-by-play, not watching live. How did our catcher get thrown out trying to stretch a leadoff single into a double? Sounds to me like a Kangaroo Kourt fine should be brewing. / edit - ninja'd by Danchat. Thanks for the summary.
  16. Slouch rhymes with couch. I hope they sit on him, again. Too late. It's in common usage now. See above. Trademark office will nix it.
  17. Freddie rhymes with ready. That's what I don't think Odorizzi was, regarding Freeman.
  18. This makes so much sense. You didn't invent it yourself, did you? It's stolen from Shakespeare or Oscar Wilde, right? That was quite a two-out rally we just had. Too bad Odorizzi is providing one of his own, in a different style.
  19. Hope the Twins batters enjoy facing Mr Soroka, because they are doing nothing to make him go away anytime soon.
  20. You used to be a kid? Hey! I used to be a kid!
  21. Limericks? Haiku? There was an old man..................Said with a laugh, "I From Peru, whose lim'ricks all....Cut 'em in half, the pay is Look'd like haiku. He.....................Much better for two."
  22. As satire, "LOL. Seriously. LOL." falls just a hair short of Swiftian. It was kind of the opposite of subtle, as well. The problem IMO isn't whether it's satire, or even humor in general, but the lack of actual content in the post. In writing, rather than where visual cues are available, a laugh is subject to interpretation, and individuals may differ. What was the intent? It could be a charitable "Ha. That's Murphy's Law for you." It could be a mocking "Ha. They can't get anything right." It could be cynical "Ha. We're being lied to." What, for that matter, is the laughter directed at? The situation? The player? The Front Office? The fan who feels invested in the team? Honestly, it felt a lot like the latter, to me. That's going to get some people's dander up. It could be a lot of things, and when it's that ambiguous, the writer doesn't really have much right to complain if readers interpret it differently than was intended. The solution I recommend is to write in a way that actually expresses a thought. But that's harder; one's thought might get rebutted. A "LOL" isn't usually rebuttable. It's safe and cozy.
