  1. That'll teach me to root for my team.
  2. LS/MFT Lucky Strikeout Means Fine Trevor
  3. Guess a 1-2-3 inning reflects lowered expectations.
  4. Cleveland now leads Chicago 5-2 going into the eighth.
  5. Did they show some appreciation for that long bomb by Sano, earlier?
  6. Man, couldn't have a worse batter-runner to try to leg out that smash to third base, than Cruz. Oh wait, I forgot Cron.
  7. I've had the same general experience. The times I've seen more emotion from him, he does better. I usually don't want to play the pop-psych game on pro players, but I do have an occasional opinion on the subject.
  8. Bang. / subbing for Chief on that one
  9. He wasn't careful (enough) with Devers.
  10. May redeems a 2-0 start on Betts with a clutch popout. Now be careful with Devers.
  11. That flare by Arraez is one of those balls you simply expect Betts to catch. Tough play, not close to an error of course, but something within his capability that on another day he gets.
  12. He keeps himself in shape, considering he's over 100 years old. http://www.gstatic.com/tv/thumb/persons/31670/31670_v9_ba.jpg
  13. Moderator's note: disagree with others' opinions, all you want, but please avoid mocking others for even having a different opinion.
  14. Weather permitting, I'll be watching the game in person on Wednesday. Really looking forward to seeing my Twins!
  15. I agree that we may learn something from these coming series against tough teams. Still, we could see the Twins flop in the next 12 games, and yet win the World Series. Conversely they could ace these games, and the wins won't count for anything when everyone's record is wiped to 0-0 again in the post-season. Bottom line: I will enjoy the heck out of these games, if there is enjoyment to be had, but not let the highs get too high nor the lows get too low. I just don't think a baseball season, even during a pennant drive, allows for much different than that, except at peril for one's sanity.
  16. FYI, there have been a couple of discussions on this general topic in the past week or so. I didn't go through carefully to see whether you are bringing a distinct angle to the question. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/34632-front-page-4-questions-the-twins-need-to-address-concerning-their-potential-playoff-roster/ http://twinsdaily.com/topic/34646-thinking-through-the-potential-twins-alds-roster/
  17. I want him back. If I'm actually a GM I'd ask my analytics staff to confirm my hypothesis that he's the kind of pitcher who will continue to be effective into his early 30s, so a 3-year commitment doesn't scare me if it's at a reasonable price (somewhere below the QO level, per year). If we can't agree to terms, QO him. Ditto with Big Mike, for what it's worth. You can't go into an off-season with so many question marks in the rotation. I'm on the fence about Gibson - bad luck for him to get seriously ill during a contract year, but baseball's a cruel business and the FO has to be hard-headed about it.
