  1. I googled for Detroit Fried Chicken, this was what I got. Apparently they order take-out, in Michigan.
  2. It is unclear where the Jinx gods draw the line between tongue-in-cheek versus outright sarcasm. Good 8th inning, so you got by with one there.
  3. Well, my little joke was "gift" is a German word for "poison".
  4. Phew, Adrianza almost negated the go-ahead run there, had he been thrown out at third before Arraez scored.
  5. I don't think he's started a game since 2016, except for the technicality of being an Opener once or twice. I've watched him pitch since then for Rochester in Pawtucket, and believe me he wasn't befuddling any of those AAA hitters. Something has clicked for him.
  6. I know that editors ding me for including the extra 'e' in that word, but I have never understood how you get the soft 'g' sound without it. I feel like I need to pronounce it "Jud-guh-ment," spelled your way. (I also don't like including the comma inside the quotation marks, but decided I'd better do it or you'd ding me for that too. )
  7. Gibson the Gaunt, Duffey the Befuddler ... my gift for marketing comes to the front.
  8. I didn't mean you were incorrect about the timing. As I understand it, if you add a guy to the 40-man, you have to add him to the active (25-man) roster at the same time. That would have meant sending someone down, and even though rosters expanded on Sept 1, that player could not return for 10 days. So the judgement seems to have been made to not go without one of the players they want, and plan to petition to add Brusdar if it comes to that. I doubt they see Brusdar as crucial to the post-season hopes, at least not yet.
  9. I haven't been much of a fan of Duffey for a few years now. But he's doing something differently. Disguising his pitches better, or maybe just having better command of both the fastball and curve, instead of just one. Whatever the reason, these batters are just guessing against him. That fastball taken for strike 3 says that Mercer was just befuddled.
  10. Not automatically. However the Twins can petition, for instance in the case of an injury to a pitcher, as I understand it.
  11. Ugh, Cave. He gets himself out of my doghouse, and then plays himself right back in.
  12. Astudillo knew there was a problem even before he turned around. Umpires aren't wimps - those get weeded out early.
  13. Cron does the opposite of crowding the plate, doesn't he?
  14. Eddie Rosario's not quite right, when on the run, is he? I thought for sure he'd catch that foul pop.
  15. That was a nice play by Adrianza on the bunt. It had trouble written all over it.
  16. There was a certain point in Eduardo Escobar's career where this was happening. I don't know if you can predict a utility infielder's career progression, but I like where this is heading so far.
