  1. I treasure the snapshot my son Bashbury was able to take of Byron Buxton in the AFL back in 2014. I might be able to dredge up a shot of some guys named Kepler and Rosario that year too. It's seriously doubtful I'll have the same feelings in 2036 about a photo I might take of Billy Amick if I were to make the pilgrimage this year. LOL, I just looked up the roster. Future and ex but not really Twin Anthony DeSclafani pitched for that Salt River squad too. LOL^2, he might be pitching against the Twins this week.
  2. This isn't just a run-of-the-mill 90-loss team. It's a five-tool losing team. On any given day they can lose by not hitting, by not hitting with power, by not playing defense, by not throwing, and by not running the bases. Sometimes in combination! And did I mention the pitching? No, I'd better not. They can lose to you in so many ways!
  3. Outman's the one who ended up without a mitt.
  4. That needs to be fixed next year too.
  5. LOL, Outman returns the favor with an attempt that was perhaps even more difficult but definitely its equal in comedy.
  6. Teodosio's defensive stylings in CF just now remind me of a comment on one of the backfields at Ft Myers I was privileged to overhear* one spring training a decade or so ago. Tom Kelly gave Darin Mastroianni the following pep talk when the latter returned to the dugout bench: "let's try and keep the 360s to a minimum out there." * and retell once or twice a season, LOL
  7. If you understand the game, you know that once the team finds itself behind by 2.48 runs, batters and pitchers alike start pressing and all of a sudden you drop another 7.52 runs and lose the game by a hair.
  8. Spin your high-falutin' rate analytics like batting average any way you wish. In the month of August, Martin and Wallner had nearly the same number of plate appearances (81 and 91 respectively), and Martin scored 9 times while Wallner scored 13 runs. Martin had 2 RBIs and Wallner had 13. Wallner's rate stats in September are ugly, no question. Still, he has 4 runs so far this month, and 4 RBIs. Martin has 6 runs and 0 RBIs. You would think a batting average difference of .161 to .385 in the month would have a bigger impact on the most important batting stats, those measuring the scoring of runs.
  9. Does the Twins broadcast team read TD? The other day I mentioned that I can't tell Outman and Fitzgerald apart at the plate. That's the topic of discussion in the top of the fourth. Maybe my observation was just that obvious and everyone sees it. Or maybe, just maybe, my life has not been in vain.
  10. First Rule of Holes, my friend. When you find yourself in one, stop digging. 😀
  11. I've been wondering for a few days now - what is your avatar photo?
  12. Larnach running the bases, LOL. He tries his best, bless his heart.
  13. That's clearly one possible meaning, leading to one clearcut outcome. I double checked my memory, and MLBTR has him remaining philosophical immediately after the trades - the train departure as we all acknowledge it to be - thus doubling down on the "Twin For Life" remarks he made during the All-Star break. Now, a month later, something has changed. He alluded to what may be on his mind when he brought up the W-L record of the past month. As always, I don't know (and I think none of us knows) what is being said in private. Ryan and Buxton have spoken candidly to the press in quick succession. If Pablo Lopez pipes up about something, anything, soon then I will feel even more confident that the stars are speaking for others in the clubhouse. What Baldelli does about it, is anyone's guess. What his boss Falvey does about it, is anyone's guess. What Clan Pohlad does about it, is anyone's guess. Maybe the Final Boss tells Derek, "do what you have to do." Two or even three trades could ensue in that scenario - the three stars I named - in line with what you say and then some. I'm just saying, stay tuned. That seemingly simple scenario is hardly the only one, and if I squint and read Buxton's comments just right, maybe not even the odds-on one. This could be some version of a palace revolt.
  14. Possibly the worst hawt taek I've seen in a month, and I'll leave it at that.
  15. Adios somebody, maybe. This plot could be about to thicken.
  16. He remains my favorite current Twin and this bit of straight talk is an example why.
  17. I feel as if we may have been slightly beaten to market, with your idea. Here's one for the analytics fans.
  18. Okay then, I'd sure hate to be in your bare feet.
