  1. From the game thread today, regarding Dozier batting second:
  2. When he finds himself in times of trouble, Brother Gardy looks at second. Speaking words of wisdom: Bat him second. And in the hour of darkness, He is looking right at second base, Speaking words of wisdom, Bat him second. Bat him second, Bat him second, Bat him second, Bat him second, Whisper words of wisdom, Bat him second. And when the broken-hearted fanbase, Living in the Twin Cities, Ask Ron for an answer, Bat him second. For though they may be parted, There is still a chance that they will see, There will be an answer, Bat him second. Bat him second, Bat him second, Bat him second, Bat him second, Always the same answer, Bat him second.
  3. I'm told that the reply tool edits out if I say the word "****". It should also be tuned to edit out this phrase. / edit - if you see Kay, tell her it looks like my information was correct
  4. That would be the question of the night for Gardy, I think. My hope is a lead of any size in the 6th inning, in which a single by Doumit is followed by Escobear as runner, and then Parms as the (who would have guessed this phrase coming into the season?) defensive replacement.
  5. They're batting their first baseman just ahead of the pitcher. How many good lineups do that?
  6. You didn't? My reply was a reply-to-a-reply where you said "but Hicks, I'm about ready to write off." I don't expect anyone to maintain complete consistency from week to week, and I change my mind as well; but within one thread I would at least hope for a static point of view, else there is no point in engaging my brother in conversation.
  7. This is what bugs me about the Twins rosters, even back when they were winning divisions. The Piranha approach can work when the competition is like this, making mistakes that cost them. That lets you rack up enough wins to get to the postseason, when it works. But then you run into playoff teams who do not get themselves out and who do not give you 4 outs of your own.
  8. I'm rooting for the Twins to win tonight.
  9. Would you trade Kepler to get a Morneau who's in another team's system? Someone on the major league squad with an expiring contract and mediocre numbers?
  10. An average CFer is pretty valuable. By definition there will be only about 20 or so of them at any time. Span is average, and look at the pitching prospect he brought in return, if a team is so-inclined to trade him. If that's Hicks's ceiling, he's still worth cultivating. Maybe Rochester's the right place, except for the lack of other options on the major league team because (ahem) CFers are valuable.
  11. Perhaps irony is Alanis turning Fergie's "My Humps" into an enjoyable self-parody. Look it up on YouTube sometime.
  12. Hey! No being a sourpuss. Today's KC and the Sunshine Band day. Save the grousing for when Pelfrey is up.
  13. I might want to consider just quitting while I'm losing, actually.
  14. Hey, no one commented on the rocket surgery that Gardy performed today, with the double switch when Roenicke came in.
  15. With regard to my particular contribution, I was actually thinking of the 12-year-olds and went with a glove for the hand.
  16. Or just another Friday night, chez Morneau.
  17. Meanwhile back at the game, Burton had a very nice, effective, and efficient inning.
  18. Fearless Leader, also, will have something to say to him post-game.
  19. Mike Pelfrey is so cheap, he tips his pitches instead of the waiter.
  20. ESPN's p-b-p feed initially had it as a double. Was it contested/reversed, or just a mistake by the person typing it in?
