  1. Man, I go away a couple of weeks, and you guys let the team fall apart. Second worst record in the league? So far, my return to civilization has the Twins doing OK this game; other than the home run Correia looks like he's cruising along in his classic not-actually-cruising-but-getting-it-done fashion.
  2. Well well. Just got back from a two-week absence, and found that my adopted prospect Joe Benson has been lost on waivers. Things change. His 2013 record for Rochester thus ends with 164 plate appearances, in which he bats .192 and compiles an OPS of .541. Nothing at all like we (all) hoped for and (some) expected. I won't continue to report on him in this forum, but I see that in his first game for the Rangers' AA affiliate he hit a home run. Good for you, Joe Benson, and good luck to you.
  3. Cole slaw sounds gross too, but I'll take your advice under consideration.
  4. So, the net advice is that I should get coleslaw on my BBQ in Carolina? I'll go with that.
  5. But it's a Quality Start. That counts for something in the standings, right?
  6. This one's gonna sting like that Tyler Robertson loss.
  7. Go for the trifecta by mentioning Trevor's muff.
  8. What we need to see is the Twins swing to contact.
  9. You may have to wait until Act IX to find out.
  10. They all were within 90 seconds of each other. No one should be responsible for refreshing at that high a rate.
  11. A google search turns up too many hits for this phrase, to hold you personally accountable. But you are warned. But no research is ever truly wasted. The search informed me that such a thing exists as Kranepool Society :: A New York Mets Blog ? A daily account of the trials and tribulations of the New York Mets. Contact me at sinymets@aol.com .
  12. Go ask Stew. He's a standup guy and will respond.
  13. I don't know if any good free-agents remain unsigned. We're stuck with Pelfrey for now.
  14. I won't be posting, so you have to go out of your way to look me up anyway. Might as well look at the whole collection at http://twinsdaily.com/blogs/ashburyjohn/3266-about-avatars.html I didn't update it with Jenny Dell from last night, but you can look her up anytime you need to.
  15. I, my good fellow, had a bit of brandy after my dinner, but I am hardly in my cups.
  16. Yeah. If the bullpen is short one guy (Perk) already, and in the middle of a long sequence of games with no day off, it sure would be nice to have a starter get through the seventh. Maybe Correia followed by Pelf isn't ideal.
  17. Speaking of which, does anyone have any good memories of ballparks in the Carolinas? (Savannah or Augusta count for this purpose.) I can't turn this trip into a ballpark roadtrip, but can probably convince Mrs. Ashburyjohn to take in a game - she grew up on the NW side of Chicago and her daddy raised her right so an evening at the ballpark takes no arm twisting. Gotta pick a good one though, if it's my only shot. I've got a list of what's there, of course. I'm looking for recommendations.
  18. They weren't too darn good with RnotISP either
  19. Yeah, I really didn't think RB had it in him. Long time coming.
