  1. That's what sh- <claps hands over mouth>
  2. Kind of dating yourself there, sonny.
  3. Not a good throw to second by Pinto. / yes yes, I know...
  4. Perkins doing an interview for the other team's broadcast appears to be a pretty bad jinx.
  5. With his chronic bad back and bum knees, aggressiveness on the bases is always a calculated risk, so I give him credit. / and only a cynic would point out that being in a contract year is part of the calculation...
  6. JWillie's got the wheels!
  7. Indiana: the Florida of the Midwest
  8. You think it's easy lugging all that cash to the bank every night after the game?
  9. Not a real mystery to the batters as yet. Four swings. No misses, though one was a nubber. / JD Martinez however was a different story, with two bad swings, and a nice called strike perhaps aided by Fryer.
  10. Torii gets some good carom action in the LF corner. Somewhat of a Slow Mule Race to see whether Willingham gets to it in time to prevent the triple. Josh wins this time.
  11. Fuld's back. Good to have a centerfielder in the lineup. Without one of those, there's too much chance of balls landing between LF and RF and rolling all the way to the wall.
  12. The surgeon removed a herniated disc, but is day-to-day on sewing him back up.
  13. Ah, missed that reference. +1 to Willi for the post, +1 to you for the needed explanation. I should have just gone with "Runs through stop signs? Overthrows the cutoff man? Giggety."
  14. These are baseball references, I trust? Or part of your hypothesis?
  15. I can't click El Like-o to that one, sorry.
  16. Yep. I've been slow to appreciate him. He's got good movement on his pitches, so probably the key is a delivery that disguises what's coming. If he starts to tip his pitches, though, look out - not that I would ever catch on, except by the results.
  17. How old are most kids when they stop appending "and a half" when necessary? I'm very sure it's before age 49, and I don't recall a college senior informing me she was 22 and a half, but not exactly sure when the cutoff really is. PS, it's helpful to know I don't need to check online before 3:07:47.
  18. You've got all off-season to rest up, Meat. Get back in there. Oh, and I vote for TK too. The monotony doesn't get to me, but I don't watch every game either.
  19. I really hope no fans of other teams run across this side comment and make fun of us for how low our standards have sunk.
  20. With Nick Gordon's family tree, we probably should've insisted on his first born in his deal, too.
  21. Pf, he's only what, 51? Let's go big and get Minnie Minoso before some other team grabs him; he'd probably accept the challenge of learning a new position in order to notch another decade on his belt.
  22. This situation seems the flip side of the old quote from a manager or GM or maybe pitching coach: "I don't need left-handed pitchers. I need pitchers who can get left-handed batters out." Hicks needs to hit productively against right-handed pitchers. Right now he doesn't. Batting from the left side wasn't getting it done. The early returns as a righty against righties aren't good. (I was surprised to see he already has 99 PA in that configuration.) I don't care whether he bats left, right, or standing on his head against them. I don't care about his psychology. He just needs to improve. And AAA probably is the place to learn.
  23. I'm sure Gardy would deny sentimentality played any role, but he'd be harder pressed to convince me that wishful thinking wasn't the biggest motivator.
  24. Google it. Make sure safe search is on. / edit: I did, and one of the hits was Jane Goodall smooching a chimp. Also Charlton Heston with a different damn dirty ape.
