Nice house, dismal suburb-from-hell surroundings, and half an hour from the Twins complex. Even someone from Oakland might say, "there's no there there." The price was right, however. Geez, my buddy Graham isn't much mystery to the Sox tonight, is he?

All seriousness aside, no, we didn't manage to find the time. Mrs Ash was working most of the days, and the side trip to Miami pretty much soaked up the sightseeing time for her. Baseball predominated for me.

Lehigh Acres? Yes. [Only ChiTown and a few others will have any chance at that'un. Scratch that, try again.] Grand Forks? No, still on my bucket list.

They're angling for a trade to get Graham back.

Arcia has a built-in advantage over the Hammer in that he does not have a chronic bad back and will at least leave his feet when it's necessary to catch a humpback liner that would drop in.

Reason 3: You don't sign a guy to what is widely viewed as a hometown deal, and then trade him. Not lightly, at least, and not because he's at some perceived peak in value.

Fair to say nobody's giving Torii Hunter any credit on defense.

Sad would be talking about staying there.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/phillies/Phillies-release-Kevin-Slowey.html The Phillies on Tuesday morning released righthander Kevin Slowey, who was in camp as a non-roster invitee and on a minor league deal. ... Slowey, 30, pitched in seven Grapefruit League games, two of which were starts. He allowed 11 runs, nine of which were earned, on 15 hits over 11 2/3 innings.

They are thin in centerfield with Shane Robinson on the 40-man.

Hey, I took the Over on them in Chief's contest.
  16. ashbury
Sample, you have attacked and mocked the very sanctity of Chief's contest. Well done.

Dammit, Brock, where's that Double-Like button?
  18. ashbury
    So does Mr Bonnes.

If he reaches the majors, does he think he'll be known more for his bat, or his glove?

You have to take into account he's 160 years old. I forget when the peak is for twitter users but he's got to be well into his decline phase.

Hadn't thought to look up how's doing with Cleveland this spring. He's appeared in 9 games. He's pitched 9 innings. He's given up 9 runs; all 9 of them were earned. That's an ERA of 9. I think we may miss his consistency more than we realize.

You should follow this gentleman, if you do not already: https://twitter.com/oldhossradbourn "Service time? Try 4 years in the Army of the Potomac, friend."

    Either would be overpaying.

    Great trade! (What'd we get?)
  25. ashbury
They keep saying they want to give the lefty one more look. I think it was always slated for me to be in the bullpen. Can a trade to Twinkie Town be worked out?
