  1. "Give me your tears, White Sox announcer man."
  2. 768 hits for you and 768 hits for me would both still be the record.
  3. Me too. Nobody's ever gotten 1536 hits in a season before.
  4. Seems like a line of script that might have been a tad difficult to accomplish in one take.
  5. The .120 BA doesn't contain a lot of room for multi-start weeks, for that matter. Or multi-week stays in the majors. At least, for most players.
  6. Yes!! / A .120 BA coming in does not contain a lot of room for many multi-hit games.
  7. Maybe if Dad hadn't moved out in order to go live with that waitress, it wouldn't have come to this.
  8. He's not hitting that low now, not after that double.
  9. Montero sets a major league record by striking out twice in one at-bat. / I think that one pitch was strike three
  10. Mine's 92 and still going strong. Phone call to him coming up...
  11. I'm not sure this thread has much to do with game threads. Chief was doing a takeoff on the "stick a fork in Hunter" meme, which was started as a regular thread. As for my earlier comment, in case it was misconstrued as being simply impolite, it was based on the apparent notion of a boss-employee relationship. The working relationship among moderators and site ownership is both subtle and strong, and "boss" doesn't begin to cover it, particularly where the Chief is concerned. There, I've managed to ruin two jokes by explaining them.
  12. Yes, because Chief is afraid of being fired.
  13. Which is why the Stauffer signing continues to haunt us even after he's been released. If we had started the season with, say, Achter, we'd know something at this point.
  14. Let Hughes try for the complete game? If Gameday's correct, he's at 95 pitches
  15. "Do you serve spirits here?"
  16. Does that make them ghosts now?
  17. Bring it on home, Hughes.

  19. And if both those friends happened to be dead too.
