  1. Why, did he hit a home run in it, or something?
  2. We're losing, nothin' to nothin'.
  3. We're certainly transmitting right now, but I'm not sure if anyone can reasonably be expected to receive and translate.
  4. Yeah, and if sound doesn't travel in a vacuum, why do vacuum cleaners make so much noise?
  5. Woah, you got back up to speed quickly!
  6. And one more: By the time he is 70 and giving a talk to some Cub Scout den meeting about his career, he will be CERTAIN that it was 3-0 and he got the green light and hit a homer.
  7. Oh, and this, which is what Mike alluded to: Some prize bulletin board material there. Maybe even a Kangaroo Court hearing in the Reds locker room will come from this. "Caleb Cotham, you are hereby fined $25 for the end of season party, for this offense. Never heard of you? That's on you, Rookie." "Blake Wood, you are hereby fined $100. You're not even a rookie."
  8. Interesting reading. Sometimes I wonder if certain of our Twins hitters even recognize a pitch to this degree, once it's on its way
  9. This is great. The Spiders are now the bar we are measuring against.
  10. And yet the 2015 Twins, with basically the same guys, were better in every conceivable clutch situation than with the bases empty. We don't usually label a guy a power hitter one year and punch-and-judy the next year, or vice versa - we talk about slumps and hot hands and so forth - but we're very happy to look inside his head and pronounce whether he's clutch or not on such a basis.
  11. This alone explains the 0.1 game improvement in the standings.
  12. Sanóty! / OK, the accent messes up the meter of the joke a little...
  13. See, Chief, while you were taking one of your extra long naps, they invented this thing called newsprint....
  14. You have to first GET to Texas in order to keep on going.
  15. Not that anyone is cataloging individual responses on this issue, nor that Levi was referencing me at all, but I have to say that the discussion here has changed my view. I was in favor of the rule change (in a vacuum) when it was announced, but my initial viewing of the videos where penalty outs were assessed looked a little strange to me, in that they didn't look too much different than what I've always been used to, and that was the gist of my comment. But all in all I think it's an improvement to the game, to clarify that oversliding second base or going out of the basepath is going to leave the runner open to an interference call.
  16. Once again I learn something by reading Game Thread. Exactly what value I gained... ummmm... / edit - one of the things I learned is that you have to include "Duchamp" in your Google Image Search string...
  17. Close. One inning too high on one, one inning too low on the other.
  18. I can't help wondering the same thing. Still, it would have been more persuasive to see a post like this, oh, about a week ago. History doesn't repeat itself, but sometimes it rhymes. In 1984 our Twins had a surprising .500 season and were in contention until the very end, after years in the wilderness. Many of the important pieces were in place at that time. It still took until 1987 for the magic to really happen.
  19. The pitch to Mauer was behind him. Very damning. I didn't see the Nunez one.
  20. http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/images/reviews/103/1164723671.jpg "What's all this about Eric Hosmer's fine ... oh my!"
  21. What's the URL for their game thread? I might like to listen in.
  22. I don't recall, has any mention been made of his weight? He looked a bit trimmer on the mound today, but I might be imagining things.
