  1. I think the incentives are based on appearances, so keeping him on the active roster but not using him doesn't cost more than his base salary. To me, it's a waste of a roster spot if he's not going to pitch. Molitor would rather put J.R. Graham out there, and he's basically admitted that Graham is only in the MLB bullpen because of the Rule V restrictions. If he's not going to pitch, bring up someone else to take his place. My best guess is that the Twins are waiting for Arcia and Fien to be ready and then Stauffer plus another player will be gone. If they moved Stauffer now and brought up a different player, they'd have to make an additional move or moves for Fien and Arcia.
  2. I think everyone in the bullpen still has minor league options except for Stauffer - is that right? Maybe Duensing is out of options. Boyer? The Twins have shown that they'd rather send someone like Tonkin to AAA than "lose" Tim Stauffer or Blaine Boyer. I would think Boyer would opt out if he has the chance to do so rather than pitch in AAA.
  3. How about 007 ? Buxton, Byron Buxton.
  4. The Twins just swept the Red Sox for the first time since 2006. The Twins are tied for first place in the AL Central and it's May 27th. Those are fun numbers.
  5. Don't they know that in a case of identical records the standings are supposed to go North to South instead of alphabetically?
  6. It's gonna be an interesting 24 hours, I had forgotten about Arcia being close to returning as well. Maybe Vargas will stay in AAA a bit longer.
  7. my guess is that at least one pitcher is going down, Vargas is back up. If Fien is ready, then two pitchers are going down.
  8. I wouldn't hate that move, but I would settle for just shifting duties so Gladden doesn't do any more solo innings of play by play. I like Gladden just fine as the guy with fun anecdotes and baseball wisdom. Atteberry and Provus are fun in the booth together, because they are both giant nerds for baseball.
  9. Whew. That was a shaky inning, but it's a zero in the boxscore...
  10. Molitor is really managing hard out there today - Perkins better be ready to come in to face Ortiz...
  11. Man, I'm starting to regret not dropping everything at the office and going to this game...
  12. Ok Pressly- Pedroia is the guy you gotta get...
  13. That was a quick half inning for the Twins at the plate...
  14. Anyone warming up in the Pen, or is Duensing going to pitch to Pedroia?
  15. Ok Duensing - Swihart is the guy you gotta get...
  16. Ok Hughes - Swihart is the guy you gotta get...
  17. That was an important run, nice job Rosario!
  18. That may have been an important run...
  19. No doubt onto the plaza in RF He certainly knew it was gone right away, based on how he dropped the bat and started jogging.
  20. Hughes, stop pitching to the score! Only Nolasco gets away with that kind of behavior!
  21. As Humphrey Bogart once said, " A dog at the ballpark is better than a steak at the Ritz"
  22. If it weren't for Ervin Santana, Pelfrey would be in the bullpen right now... So, Ervin Santana is the savior. Wait.... That's seems off somehow. Anyway, I think Neil Allen should get some credit for being able to get improved results from pretty much the entire pitching staff compared to last year.
  23. Gibson is heating up at the right time, and Glen Perkins has done everything that a closer is supposed to do to make the All-Star team. None of the Twins position players have really outpaced the rest of the league, though there have been more bright spots than disappointments. I think Dozier might get a chance since he probably should have been on the team last year and is once again putting up similar numbers. The bar is pretty high for 2B, though. I wouldn't feel like the Twins got snubbed if Perk was the only representative. If anything, it might be a motivational tool for some of the guys, that whole "No one respects us" narrative can work wonders (see also: Royals, K.C.).
