  1. With both Kiriloff and Larnach coming up(2 LH), that'd make Cave more expendable (platooning Rooker RH). But because of his glove,I'd prefer Broxton.
  2. The one I'm banking on is Broxton. I believe Buxton and the coaches will help him figure it out and become a break out hitter. He's already shown he has a elite glove and speed
  3. I believe that the management has learned from 2019 and prior of over using the relievers that were hot and burning them out. So happy they figured it out. I believe they know exactly what they are doing
  4. Larnach is a special player, he's very close in talent to Kiriloff and deserves more credit. He's MLB ready, the good problem is that we have too many great corner OF s, 1B and DH MLB ready players. Like I said prior they'll make room for his talent.
  5. All of his setbacks has been minor and over exaggerated until now. The worst part isn't the time missed, it's the time missed not learning under Simmons. He'll come back and be a great player. Missing 1yr. won't make or break him because he's a driven athlete. But what makes me sad is the missed opportunity of being mentored by Simmons.
  6. I like our rotation but for me there's a lot of ?s. Berrios is the most proven, hopefully he'll have a greater breakthrough. Maeda and Pineda haven't put in a full season yet. CWS on paper look the best, with CLE always better than what they seem. I'd rate our rotation a distinct 3rd. Where we excel is depth. Our rotating from AAA, where we'll have an abundance of MLB ready arms waiting to take their turn. So far will make the difference
  7. I'm glad you liked it. Here's a snippet from "Triathlete" "Athletes in particular might find it easy to explain away fatigue or muscle cramps, lowered immunity, and even altered heart rates, and indeed these symptoms are common and multi-faceted in cause. However, a simple magnesium deficiency could also be the underlying factor. There is emerging evidence that magnesium requirements are significantly elevated in athletes, and that performance might benefit from higher intakes. Aside from being used up in the production of energy, magnesium might also assist performance by reducing accumulation of lactic acid and reducing the perception of fatigue during strenuous exercise through its action on the nervous system. Magnesium is also lost through sweat, so athletes training hard in hot and humid environments might further increase demands. Magnesium deficiency is actually quite common—dietary surveys indicate more than 70 percent of the population consumes insufficient magnesium. The recommended daily allowance for the general population is a minimum of 300 to 350 mg for women and 400 to 450 mg for men. Research suggests that endurance athletes can safely consume 500 to 800 mg daily, and there is debate as to whether this amount should be higher still."
  8. 2 of the most critical positions SS and CF we are very shallow at. And like you I'd like to see a competent back up to these positions. Alas Celestino finished 2019 at high A, I hope that Celestino can make that jump but I doubt it. My hope is in Broxton to be that backup. I really hurts that Lewis got hurt yet I doubt that Gordon will debut. Like you said he's no longer considered a SS and we have a bunch of 2B. He has always had difficulty in making transitions so even if he does well at AAA (which I believe he will) I think he should be traded to make room on the 40 man.
  9. No, I self diagnosed but here in Brazil I need a doctor's prescription to get it. So I got a doctor friend to write one for me. These facts can be found on the internet. BTW almonds are a good source of magnesium.
  10. Thanks, Ted for being our eyes and ears there at camp. Keep up the good work. Optimistic that Buxton can be that MVP.
  11. Enjoyed your article, Cody. I think almost all the Twins have an extra gear that they haven't tapped into yet. I watched a Giant video and the author was very high on Anderson and was sad he left. Alcala, when he perfects his 3th pitch, can be an effective starter. Of all the Twins, the one I'm cheering the most is Broxton. Once he finds himself at the plate, he'll be awesome subbing Buxton and platooning in LF.
  12. Kiriloff is ready for the big show. It'll be fun to watch.
  13. I like the idea of Sano transitioning back to 3B because he's our best option and giving time to Arraez at 1B. I'd like Arraez at 1B all the time when Sano is not there because that's the best place for him and we need him in the line up. Although there could be some instances where Kiriloff could fit there but that shouldn't be our priority.
  14. I'm assuming that most of his games that he'll play in the beginning will be subbing Donaldson. Here I'd like to advocate again to transition Sano to 3B when Donaldson is out and have Arraez familiar with 1B. I think people are assuming that Donaldson is starting the opener at 3B therefore where do we put Arraez? I doubt Arraez will be playing that much in LF in the beginning. We can put Arraez in LF when we have a ground ball pitcher like Dobnak pitching.
  15. It's about time we bring back the pinstripes and burn the baby blues
  16. Really a bummer! Not the news I was hoping to hear. This time with Simmons is invaluable. We'll have to see who we can pick up next year to play SS.
  17. Looking forward to hearing Johann Santana doing color. He's a joy to see and listen to. As well as watching Donaldson do his rain dance
  18. Lewis is very athletic, a true super utility player(someone who's a plus defender at the key positions- SS,CF and 3B) it would be a waste to play him at 2B. Right now we are seriously short on SS and CF talent so I'm looking forward to having Simmons teach him SS, that's what all he needs. Anywhere he's lacking he'll come around because he's a student of the game. He's still the #1 Twins prospect IMO because of need we don't have any MLB ready prospects at our key positions but we have a ton of prospects MLB ready at corner OF, 1B and DH
  19. I've thought about writing this blog for some time now. I trust that Donaldson is surrounded by professionals so I've restrained myself from writing on this subject. I'd like to start with personal testimony. A short time ago, I had a surgery and was bed ridden for some time. As soon as I went back to my walking. As usual I stretched out and started my walk. I started out with just a short walk but my calves and hamstrings cramped up like everything. I knew muscle cramps is a deficiency of magnesium. So I started to take magnesium supplements and the cramps went away immediately. Recently I reduced and eliminated taking supplements and my legs started to tighten up when I stretched out. I'm sure Donaldson goes through a regiment of stretching, massages, soaking, use heavy duty calf supports and even most likely was tested for magnesium deficiency. But magnesium blood tests can be deceiving. Magnesium is necessary for proper cell development like muscle, nerve, bone etc. most Americans are deficient of it. I don't recommend Donaldson to nurse his big calves with "milk of magnesium" (sorry I couldn't resist). But I do suggest maybe a magnesium cream, a magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) soak. Donaldson really works those calves so he might need to take magnesium supplements. Magnesium is normally safe but you can over do it so I recommend to consult his health care giver. I'd really like to see him overcome this problem and be a super star with the Twins.
  20. It's very hard for a small market team to compete for the World Series year after year. When the core hits FA, it's very hard to keep them all. It's not fair that the big market teams can throw big money at players and don't even worry about the luxury tax because they can afford it. But that's a different subject. Can we compete against LAD? Our hope is that we can but it'd be a miracle. We have done it before. Should we go for all the marbles? If we have all our bases covered,I'd say yes!
  21. Larnach is a great hitter. It'd have to be a super sweet deal for the Twins to trade Larnach. The Twins love their big bats. I imagine that they'll find a place for him next year.
  22. Seems like they put a lot importance on power when rating offense. MLB average for BA and OBP is .250 and around .320 (it varies each year) respectively. Simmons's hitting has improved a lot through the years. If you throw out 2 of his low average early years at ATLANTA, he'd have a well above average in both BA and OBP. My only concern is his ankles but it seems they're fine. So I'd still rank him an A+
  23. Happy day indeed! Berrios is motivated to sign an extension. Always thought he didn't want to sign but instead wanted to test the waters. Also Maeda's working on a new pitch. It has made my day. Looking forward to better days ahead.
  24. I'm not expecting any of these to be on the original 26 man roster breaking camp. Hope Duran get called up as soon as possible. Larnach and some pitching prospects should be called up towards the end of the season. I don't understand obtaining Garlic unless they plan to trade a bunch of our over abundant corner OFs. Hope also Wes Johnson can tweak some of the pitchers that were obtained to help out the BP. The only one that I'm really cheering for is Broxton because we really need his glove to back up Buxton. Whatever capacity that may be.
  25. My hope is that Broxton finds himself and start hitting. Because he's our best backup to Buxton. Our best way of keeping him him on the roster is platooning him at LF. He could starting platooning with Cave and Arraez and later Kiriloff. I like Rooker but that'd leave him odd man out.
