    What's with the obsession to trade Joe Ryan? I see article after article for several years now with Joe Ryan trade offers. Did he wear his emotions on his sleeves once and suggested a trade and we never heard from him again on the subject or did he appear in trade rumors at the deadline and we just decided he must be traded? What's the story?

    I will decide when and if to accept the Pohlad's efforts for the team. I think they do make a good point in that there are so many teams in Minnesota competing for the extra sports money from the community that there is so much the Twins can do as a team. As long as they are competitive, I am fine with what they do. I was happy with the trade deadline acquisitions.

    I thought Klein was traded to the Bluejays. Ross is staying. He plays multiple positions, exactly what you want from an injury call up. Someone who can play the position of the injured player. Larnarch will be tendered or traded. A 120 OPS+ season is not being let go over 6.3 million. He can be 2/3 DH with 20 games in LF While, I believe they can trade Ober, he could be nontendered if they are worried he will throw slower next spring. Ober and Lewis are the fun debates here. Nance will be kept. They need relievers and he will cost what Topa did this year with similar expected results. Domo origato let go Sabato ...Domo.....(Styx reference) Wallner is out too but could he resign with St Paul Saints or try somewhere else. Parades, Acton, Orze, Anderson, Sands, Banda. All interchangeable. Depending on how many spots they need they can coin flip which one to keep and let go.

    This ☝️ Also important to consider open spots and the plan for those spots. If we don't have a rule 5 draft this year we will be beneficiaries. But for KC you look and see the Twins paid 1.7 million and it costs them 100,000. Unless you find something better, what a steal of resources from a division rival. As a rule 5 being the 5th OF he gets 200 PA and 50 pinch runner opportunities and gets in 120-130 games.

    Kreidler is a bench player with ++ defense and 80-90 OPS+. If he had 30-40 points to his average and he is likely a starter.

    It looks like Lee did just enough to win the award this year but left enough room so he can win it again next year when he hits 40 HRs and wins a batting title. Clemens deserved to be on the list. Or honorable mention. Larnarch too.

    The Varland trade doesn't seem so bad when you see how Rojas and Roden both performed this year. Roden had a good Average and Rojas a good ERA and 96 mph fastball. Rojas need to work on control but he can be a good reliever or get us 120 innings in the rotation next season as he increases his workload. We were not getting those kinds of innings from Varland. He is pen only. As we go into our next contention window Varland will be in arbitration and more costly while we have league minimum on two players who can contribute. The trade is lining up to favor us within a year. We weren't supposed to contend last year and by most years we didn't. The league came to our level not the other way around. That is why the Varland trade looks bad now but looking into tomorrow it will work out for both teams and more for us

    The way Culpepper played SS and hit was a pretty good combo. It would be expensive to improve on him. What do you have in mind and wouldn't those resources be better spent elsewhere?

    Maybe the crisis is if the Twins offer all 4 a QO so we get more draft picks but all 4 accept the offer and stay causing a spike in payroll and a Pohlad indigestion.

    I don't see the crisis. If the Twins lose all 4 pitchers in FA, they still have a 5 man rotation for 2028. Maybe resign 1 of the FA starters to an extension so we have more depth but things look alright going into 2028.

    Won't MLB look into why his starts take so much longer to complete this games and implement steps to speed up the game to keep it under 3 hours.

    Clemens extra value comes from playing good defense at multiple positions. His ability to play CF was discovered out of necessity. And he continually moved where needed. Morris and Gomez were probably under consideration until their last month or so of the season. My vote would be for any of the top 5.

    Kreidler is your answer. Culpepper will play SS most days but Kreidler will get his fair share of time at SS as well. Why make a trade? Clemens can handle 2B until Houston comes up and Culpepper slides over to 2B.

    Be literate and read the stats sometime. The Twins were tied for 2nd in the AL in runs scored with 739. They were tied with the Yankees. League average was 704 The Twins were 5th in doubles, tied for second in triples and 6th in HRs. Only tied for 10th in Stolen bases. Add our 4 pitchers we acquired at the trade deadline. 45 earned runs in 121.67 innings a 3.33 ERA over a full season as well. The Twins at the end of the season were different then the Twins at the beginning of the season and I suspect with what I suggested for the off-season will add more impact and make the team a winner 🏆

    Those 80 + runs were from Topa, 19, Lawrence, 12, Garcia 10, Sands 11, Acton 10, Voth 5, Lawyerson 12, Woods Richardson 41, = 120 runs all in 125 innings. Those pitchers are almost all gone. Replaced by Hoffman, Morris, Gomez, and others. Add in the rookies improvements to the offense and a good 1B upgrade which adds 30-50 more runs to the differential and BAM! A 95 win team. Or 175 run differential improvement not counting Lopez and Abels improvements.

    And complete seasons from three rookies and bring in a 1B and RP or 2. Maybe a bench guy and depth but we are a lot closer to competitive than you give the team credit for. The bullpen improved throughout the season from awful to solid. Bringing in another reliever or two should make it a top 5 pen with a top 3 offense and a top 5-7 rotation should produce a winning season.

    I didn't say he was a savior only that he is an upgrade. He has talent. But 2 starting pitchers and 3 position players is a good start. Resign Jeffers and Minter and Bell and need a 1B and another reliever.

    They are getting Abel and Lopez back and full seasons of Jenkins, Culpepper and Rodriguez on the roster. That's 5 significant internal upgrades already. We need a C, 1 B and DH and 2 relievers. What else are you thinking?

    See post. Above they were penny pinching with Jackson guaranteed 1.8 million in majors or minors and last bench spot at 710 or 720k guarantee. Why pay two salaries after adding payroll at the deadline.

    Shelton seems like an ok manager. I'm not around enough to see. But from the few interviews I see, he seems alright.

    He didn't mishandle the C. He was pinching pennies. Jackson salary is 1.8 million in the majors or minors. A rookie would make 710 k or so in the 26th man spot while Jackson makes 1.8 million in AAA. This happened after we added salary at the trade deadline. Now you know what happened.

    There are 26 players on rosters today after 100 years of 25. The last spot doesn't matter near as much as you are giving value to it. Getting 4 pitchers at the deadline is an approach. We had the number 1 offense in the AL at the trade deadline. Although we could have used 1 more hitter.... What else were you expecting at the trade deadline? I am just happy this was a fun season, we were in the race most of the year. We had an opportunity to win, and we are positioned well for next year.

    Zoll did get the bullpen up from dismantled to solid over the course of the season. The bullpen was good the last two months of the season. Getting Gomez from Tampa, getting Banda with a claim, promoting Morris, trade deadline deals for Minter and Hoffman and Nance, Getting Kremer for the rotation was brilliant. I. Was so against that move at the time but clearly I was wrong. Not a full season to go off of. My only complaint is not getting a hitter at the deadline with Buxton getting hurt but not knowing he would mis the rest of the season practically was probably not expected either. So far he has done well. Will have a grade for him after the off-season.

    I agree with the consensus 130-140 million payroll limit. I mean, I am sure it can go a little higher too for the right situation. Also keep in mind we save 20 million trading or letting go of Bell, Larnarch, and Ober. Depending on what the front office does, the payroll should be adequate.

    The Twins need to readopt their old pattern and go back to acceptional fielding, good average with lots of doubles, take the extra base, occasional bunting to throw others defenses off. But this time meale sure they have 9 solid hitters not 7 with two retreads. But not follow their old pitching model. Their new one is better.
