    I will welcome Joe back in 2019 providing that the Twins and Joe's Agent treat each other fairly in the negotiations of a one year contract. I don't have a number but it won't be at 23 million and I assume it won't be 600K either. If Joe comes back... I will expect him to compete with Austin and Sano for playing time and I am also 100% on board with Kepler getting occasional starts at 1B if the OF is crowded with players hitting the crap out of the ball. If the presence of Mauer on the roster confuses Molitor, making it impossible for him to figure out how to give Austin a decent opportunity or makes it hard for him to get Sano occasional playing time at 1B or prevents moving Kepler to 1B on occasion then sadly... I'd say we got to let Mauer go because while I'd love to see Mauer back because I think he can help us win, I do not want Mauer to clog things up and keep us from getting our best bats in the lineup.

    Falvey and Lavine have been very accessible recently. Seems almost strategic.

    It's gonna be a new Baseball grouping to add to the sophomore slumpers and the contract year sudden superstars. The "late to spring training club".

    I'll raise my hand and say I'm opposed to picking up the option on Morrison. I'll also recognize the possibility that he might turn it around and OPS .900 next year after we don't.

    On that we agree. I know one 25 man roster spot that I'm willing to slide one of those guys into for a look see and I believe I'm with the overwhelming TD majority on that one.

    True and by that time... Drake should either be cemented or completely out of the way.

    You may not realize it but you are singing my song. Borrowed from the Beatles of course. All you need is Depth... All you need is depth... All you need is depth... depth... depth is all you need. I have no sympathy for any team that says "We had poor performance, injuries and suspensions, this is why we are out of contention" and then uses it as an excuse. These things happen every year. If you put all your eggs in the Buxton basket... just like you did with the Aaron Hicks basket and the Carlos Gomez basket before that... only to have that basket empty every single year... You deserve it.

    I was also hoping to see Tyler Austin. I'm not disappointed in Johnny Field himself and won't be until after he gets an actual chance (which he probably won't). My only disappointment is because it seems to suggest that the Twins have probably already decided that OF will not be an option for Tyler Austin and this disapoints me because I was hoping that he could play both 1B and OF. If Austin is 1B only that means he will have to wait until Mauer or Morrison get placed on the DL. If Austin was a consideration for OF... Austin would be an easy choice over Field. As it stands... Welcome to Minnesota Johnny Field... Best of Luck to you... I hope you get the chance to suit up and put the ball in play.

    To my knowledge... All 3 of the guys on the 40 man roster have options remaining.

    It is both fair and unfair in my opinion. I'm not defending the signing BTW... I'm just providing a reason for why Drake now instead of one of our Rochester guys. It's a fair description because he does clearly belong in that fringe group. It's unfair because there are some guys in that group who can and will become something worthwhile down the road if given the opportunity. The fact that he has been removed from 4 40 man rosters this year does say something but on the other hand... the fact that he has been picked up and placed on 4 40 man rosters also says something. Bottom Line... Busenitz, Curtiss and Duffey are still under control so they can still be called up anytime and will still be available for call up next year as well. They are not time sensitive like Drake is. If they want to give him a shot... they have to do it now. I have no issue with the team picking him up and trying him out... I will have an issue if they pick him up and don't give him a chance to actually try out. At that point he is a clear waste of opportunity and roster space.

    In my opinion, the Dodgers didn't need Dozier... they probably always liked Dozier and they are just collecting bats and depth for the stretch run and they got him cheap so they took the deal very smartly. Forsythe had already lost the job as primary 2B even before Dozier came to town. Turner was due to come back soon and he is a 3B Only. That moves Machado to primarily SS with an occasional 3B when Turner takes a turn on the bench which the Dodgers can do. That Moves Taylor from SS to 2B or OF and the Dodgers still have Kike Hernandez, Max Muncy, Chase Utley (2B Only) and catcher Austin Barnes who can play 2B. The Dodgers were hoping that Dozier would become 2nd half Dozier and were probably prepared to limit his playing time in case he didn't just like they had already did to Forsythe. Dozier will have to earn his playing time. The fact that the Dodgers got Dozier tells me that the Twins ended up with a best we could get deal and the better offers from other clubs just didn't materialize and the (2B only) market is a still a little depressed.

    I will be because that means that I got something I hoped for. We are Twins Fans... that doesn't happen.

    Absolutely!!! Honestly, I want Tyler Austin... and I'm so flexible with this hope that I'm willing to play him at Catcher just to get his bat up here for a look-see.

    As far as I can tell... the options are: 1. The newly signed Johnny Field 2. The just traded for Tyler Austin but they haven't played him in the OF in Rochester so... I doubt it. 3. Adrianaza for Emergency OF duty in the big leagues which opens the door for anything.

    We were pretty bad offensively prior to the deadline and therefore hard to not improve. Almost anyone was going to improve over the output that Buxton produced. Sano being a decent player since returning from Ft. Myers is like getting a new player with talent. Polanco coming back and playing well is like getting a new player with talent. It would be difficult for Morrison to get worse or stay at the very disappointing pre-deadline level. And even if Brian Dozier is about to go nuts for the Dodgers... He didn't go nuts for us. So it's not like we lost much from the first half production that Dozier provided. There are times in baseball history where sellers become better after selling and the reason for this is the reason they ended up being sellers in the first place.

    It's easy to come to the conclusion you have come to when you call Drake a "not hard to find early 30s journeyman that can be auditioned anytime". By that doing that you've lumped him into a group of whatever's. However, If you look at Drake as an individual that you like and he is available right now and may not be available later. Then you see him as time sensitive and you give him a shot. I want to see Busenitz, Curtis and Duffey just like everybody else and I want to know if they can help in 2019 but they will be here later. If they like this Drake guy... you gotta look at him now when he's available.

    I was at the game. Great seats to the left of behind home plate. 1. Sano is looking great. I don’t care about home runs right now. I am absolutely enjoying what seems to be a new found discipline. 2. I couldn’t help but wonder how good Cave would look if he could walk more and raise that OBP. Probably cut down on some K’s in the process. 3. The only way the Royals were gonna touch Berrios was how they did. Berrios losing the strike zone for a moment. 4. Morrison hit the ball a long long long way. It may have reached the Kirby Statue. It was jaw dropping distance and I couldn’t help wishing that it was Tyler Austin who hit it.
