    On another note, I don't think TD is posting enough articles on what the Twins should do with Royce Lewis and Trevor Larnach and arbitration eligible players . It really should be 3-4 articles per day instead of the 1-2 we are seeing now.

    Another article where the bulk of the comments suggest the Twins throw away viable big league assets for nothing.

    They are not going to non-tender him. Everybody needs to get that out of their thought process right now. Throwing away a player that out plays his contract makes no sense. The question that really matters is will he be a Twin come next year? The article makes good points about moving or keeping him. IMO, with the up-and-coming OF prospects, selling high on Larnach makes a ton of sense. Tender him, then move him.

    I am not going to argue too much with your view, you always want better players batting higher. I don't see the Twins acquiring a guy good enough to bump Clemens down in the lineup I proposed. It is very possible an Jenkins could improve enough to upend the top of the lineup. It would be a good problem to have. The Twins offensive floor appears to be high enough that scoring runs won't be the biggest problem next year.

    I am surprised Arraez has not come up more in this conversation, either at 1B or 2B, with Clemens filling the other role. A top of the lineup of: R-Keaschall L-Arraez R-Buxton L-Clemens S-Lee L-Jenkins There is a lot of potential in that group.

    Casas feels like a typical Twins move, especially if they move on from Lewis. They have a pretty good track record of getting the most out of these types of guys. Steer would only potentially raise the floor, but only if he plays strong defense. Everyone else is out of the Twins price range.

    I am not sure why we are worrying about the W/L records of our MiLB teams. Their job is to improve skills and prepare players for the next level. I guarantee that there are many, many situations that managers chose player growth over win probability. Those teams try to win, but they don't always play to win.

    It feels like we ask ask this question every year, and every year the answer is the same: Players that have any value at all will be tendered. Despite all of the hate he seems to get on this website, Ober continually meets or outplays his contract. Does anyone here really think the Twins will let him walk with nothing in return? Insane... Nance and Banda are replaceable. Everyone else on this list will be tendered. That does not mean they will be on the roster come spring, but they will be tendered.

    I appreciate your feelings, but I do think your nostalgia is blocking out a few points: - MLB is not a sport, none of pro sports are. MLB is entertainment disguised as a sport. If you want true competitive sports, stick with high school, low college, or (mostly) the olympics. - Owners and players are not in this for the love, they are in it to make money. MLB players may love to play, but they do it professionally to get paid. Talk to enough pro athletes and you will learn that pretty quick. - Owners will charge whatever ticket price the market will allow. Any promotion they run is done to ultimately bring more fans to games and make more money. Period.

    Bradley for 4 years makes sense (I personally think anything longer than 4 years is too high a risk on any pitcher). Buy out a year of FA with cost control. I can't see pulling the trigger on anyone else on this list right now. Do you really want to lock up Keaschall for 7+ years when his bat has been good, not great, and he can't stay on the field defensively? Everyone else is still in prove-it mode.

    Fair enough. What would it take to bump Clemens out of the lineup? - No injuries starting the season - Sign a FA 1B - Sign a FA 2B I can't see all of that happening.

    If we are talking about secured positions in the lineup today, right now, I would rank the security of Clemens over Jenkins. If Jenkins has an absolutely miserable Spring Training, I can see him being starting the season in AAA. Do I think that will happen? No. Do I think Jenkins will be on the big team to start the year? Yes. But I would rank Clemens job security slightly higher than Jenkins to start the season.

    Not sure why the author poured gasoline on Clemens when he is at worst #4 on this list (Buxton, Lee, Keaschall).

    Did you actually read the article? But if you want to go that route, here are the grades broken down by IP: A/A- 222 B+/B/B- 478 C+/C/C- 547 D+/D/D- 75 F 100 Nick graded 88% of the IP at a passing grade. Again, the 25th worst ERA in all MLB. Outside of 5-6 guys, everyone is at least a full letter grade too high.

    This team has the 25th worst ERA and WHIP in all of MLB. The top 11 pitchers in IP were given grades of C- or better. Something does not add up.

    IMO the Pohlad problem has as much to do with the lack of honesty then anything else. Saying one thing and doing another is problematic. Be honest and say you are cutting costs and payroll in an effort to sell the team. Say you are not willing to invest heavily in salary until the new CBA is done. This is Minnesota, a lot of people would be more forgiving. If you aren't going to say those things, then don't say anything. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

    Progression and regression could also be stated as early slump or late slump. The terminology probably depends on your feelings towards said players.

    I imagine this comment will not go over well with some individuals... I think Keaschall's grade might be too high. You give Larnach a B-, but Keaschall gets a B+ for relative similar production over the course of the year. Everyone rails on Larnach for his defensive liabilities, but Keaschall gets a pass? The comparison isn't perfect, but it is closer than most people will admit (especially those who hate Larnach out of principle). Keaschall going forward will be an interesting watch. He had a strong 2/3 of the year offensively, but IMO his bat is still not enough to be a full-time DH. His defensive liabilities are compounded by the OF prospects pushing for those spots. Unless he can take over 1B, I am not sure where they will hide him. If he pulls a Lewis and has a poor start to the 2027, his opportunities may evaporate quickly.

    This is important. You can't expect every player to be an all-star. He played 156 games with a 2.5 WAR at a position of need. I will take this every day.
