    Any argument comparing the Twins to the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies in a quality/depth argument needs to be taken with a grain of salt...

    Lots of arguments against the QO for Jeffers. Not sure I agree with them: -It might be an overpay, but not the worst overpay in the world. One year deals do not kill you, even this cheap owner. -Catchers in MiLB are still a few years out. Jeffers plays an important position of need and the Twins know what they have. -The Twins rolled the dice at the trade deadline and it didn't go as planned. The QO has always seemed like Plan B here. -The Pohlad public perception rehabilitation tour would be helped by spending salary on a liked and needed player.

    I agree on the effort. They have not given up. Guys trying to play through injury or comeback to help the team matters. It's not the offense or the fielding... Lopez, Abel, Festa, Ryan, Sands, Banda, Paredes.... the list goes on. Pitching injuries decimated this team. Tack on the woeful offseason approach to the bullpen and no dominant teams in the AL, this truly feels like a lost season.

    Finally a logical comment on Buxton that isn't built around vitriol. You pencil Buxton in the lineup because you should and you have to. You also plan on having a solid backup because you should and you have to.

    If they are running Jenkins and Buxton in CF & LF, you could put a stump out in RF and it would be ok

    I am not saying definitive no on Keaschall, just not 100% sold as of yet. If he craters over the next 45 days, would you be arguing so strongly? IMO it is just more time. The same argument applies to Lee and Culpepper... Offseason moves could also potentially impact his role as well. Not that I expect them to make a move for an OF, but other positional juggling could impact his role as well.

    So many either/or comments when it doesn't have to be... Virtually every great defensive CF moves out of CF at some point in their career. The transition for Buxton to LF could be gradual, with Buxton playing CF on Jenkins off days, injuries, etc. Having two CF worthy defensive outfielders is a good problem to have (Soul patrol allowed the wheels-spinning Cuddyer to basically play 10 feet off the RF line most nights).

    I believe RF may be a little more open than you, but I can see Keaschall getting first chance at it. I also think Jenkins is a virtual lock in the Opening Day lineup, the question is where in the outfield he will be playing. Not arguing too much with the rest of your analysis. Lee and Culpepper are written in pencil, not pen. Clemens will stick, if only because he is solid defensively in positions of need. If there wasn't going to be a shutdown, I could see a few trades/moves being made, especially if the Pohlads were serious about increasing payroll.

    Assuming the Twins have no intention of bringing up Jenkins this year, this should be their off-season plan. Opening day 2027 (yes that is optimistic) should put Jenkins in CF, Buxton in LF, [insert player here] in RF. Could be a very strong OF, especially on defense if it is Rodriguez.

    I could go either way on Larnach right now. Has he truly figured it out at the plate? Can he turn himself into a capable defensive outfielder? He has outplayed his salary this year and can realistically do so next year. Cheap, big league SP is such a hard thing to find in today's game, even SP4/5s. Ober has shown success in the past. If the Twins think that the AAA guys might usurp him next(?) year, his future may be in a long relief type roll. While I could easily see the Twins keep him next year, moving him would not be a huge surprise.

    I will be the first to say that I am very surprised the Twins made this move. Not because Culpepper hasn't earned it or deserved it, but because this organization has been running in the mud for so long that I did not expect any changes of consequence until after the upcoming lockout. Not moving Ryan/Jeffers and actually spending at the deadline, calling up Culpepper, rumors of Jenkins next week... Call me very cautiously optimistic that the Twins are turning the corner and being more aggressive on the future.

    So If I had said December/January, would you attack that comment too? The point my comment was that ownership did not spend any money on the BP in the offseason, and you know that. For the record, here is a list of bullpen pitchers that signed after Mar 1 that would have been an improvement on what that Twins had at the start of the season: Danny Coulombe Jalen Beeks Ryan Borucki Tim Mayza Zack Littell Patrick Corbin Lucas Giolito

    Where was the willingness to spend earlier in the year? If they had spent any money on the BP in March and April, this team would be in first place. Everyone knew the BP was horrible, they did nothing of consequence to improve it. This isn't willingness to spend, this is having to spend because the optics made it necessary.

    Solar is the only one worthy of discussion, but with the way the roster is constructed, he isn't a good fit. Pass on all three

    No to the Jackson move... I think the Twins see him as the backup next year. I can't see him passing through waivers with the way he has played this year. While there is no guarantee that players will accrue service time during the lockout, I can't see the Twins risking that on those two at this point. When Jenkins is called up, he needs to play every day. I don't think the Twins will do that for him right now.

    Can we stop riding this rollercoaster please? Prospect has a strong week: "All doubts erased, prospect is awesome! the future is saved!" Prospect has a rough week: "Prospect is turning into a pumpkin! Woe is the future! Who will fill his role now that he sucks?"

    IMO - a lot would depend on how much salary Seattle is wiling to eat. Paying $24M for a veteran, good clubhouse guy, 4/5 starter is not an option. Get that number under $10M, without giving up any prospect capitol, is worth a discussion.
