  1. I'm not picking on him, it was just funny to see Dick try to keep the... interview moving along. And I probably wouldn't know my own name if you put me in that booth.
  2. Some male iguanas may be more of a family man. I just picture him making that '91 WS catch against the plexiglass, and thank the baseball gods that his private life stayed private as long as it did.
  3. The kid who got it seems a little dazed and goofy. You might be able to trade him some shiny objects for it.
  4. He was in many ways the NL mirror image of Puckett, right down to batting left-handed.
  5. My list is weird: Sandberg Nolan Bip Roberts ARod (Seattle edition only) Brett Butler Barry Larkin IRod Cecil Fielder Trammel and Whitaker Mickey Tettleton (glacial DH edition only) I don't like the Tigers, but there are several on my list. Can't stand ARod, but loved watching him as a Mariner. Like the Cubs, but only Sandberg enough to put him on the list. And I think I just like Bip's name, and also that you could call him "The Dread Pirate Roberts!" when he stole a base.
  6. Gibson shuts him down and Ervin gives up the grannie. Figure those odds.
  7. Supposed to be a pill for that, I think. Must be something to it, or they wouldn't have made that fascinating infomercial for it featuring Lindsay Lohan and Carrot Top.
  8. Be sure to use that one if you assemble a portfolio of your work to apply for a Positive Thinking Coach position.
  9. Not sure if I need stronger reading glasses or just cleaner ones, but as I scrolled past it that looked an awful lot like "Baseball Sluts that are not Expected". Personally I had always thought of Mauer as more of a Mimbo, really.
  10. Thanks, you saved me the embarrassment of swearing in front of my kid.
  11. My dad just had that flabbergastric bypass surgery, lost 30 pounds already.
  12. That was a considerable bump up from the original Dodgers offer of a Groupon for Sizzler.
  13. This makes me want to sign up for a ride-along if I'm ever in LA. If it helps my chances, I can bring my own helmet: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q72/poopoomonkeyfishface/EasyRider.jpg
  14. Rosario seems to have some good stuff, but i knew he was in for some trouble when Dick said that this was "a good chance to get his feet wet"... http://i.imgur.com/3XofrLc.gif
  15. It's been a really fun game, but I'm running dangerously low on snacks and awakeness... http://www.bettycjung.net/BG2011/fatkidsleeping.jpg

  17. Yes. Up until now, the travails of the bullpen have been worthy of an HBO series.
  18. Yup,he looks even worse than that time the pilots got sick and he had to land the team charter.
  19. The worst part was that I was with a soft-spoken friend who patiently explained to me that when the mob came for us, he and his Puckett jersey would probably incur their wrath before me and my Peter Gabriel concert t-shirt.
  20. You're a braver man than I am. And braver than the only two guys I know in California who ride. True story. When I was in high school, a close friend's older brother finished a summer job after he graduated from a Minnesota college, and moved out to San Diego to live with their oldest brother and look for a job in his field. He road his motorcycle all the time in SD, but avoided LA after older brother, who also rode his bike a lot, warned against it. Finally, after three months of riding in and around San Diego he decided in November that he was ready for LA. Went up for a day on a Friday, to just see the sights and return in the early evening for a party they were invited to. Called at dinner time, while still audibly shaken, to tell older brother that he would be home later than expected because he wanted to wait until the traffic was less nerve-wracking. Older brother: "What time are you thinking you'll head back down here?" Younger brother, only half jokingly: "Christmas morning".
  21. If you want to be heard by everyone in a stadium, cheer at the moment a future HOF player for the home team fails to reach a milestone. I'm still being hunted in Oakland, more than 25 years after cheering and then heckling Ricky Henderson for failing to tie Lou Brock's SB record when he was thrown out by Junior Ortiz in the opening series of the 1991 regular season.
