  1. If GMs got together and voted for the player they'd most want to have to draw fans for a single season with a 100 loss team, I have to think Buxton would get a bunch of first place votes. Starters only draw once every five games, and the most prolific power hitters go deep about once every fourth game. But Buxton makes a defensive play almost every game that would make you feel good about paying the price of admission.
  2. As long as it doesn't mutate into a shooting spree.
  3. I dated a flight attendant if that's helpful to the discussion, with the disclaimer that it was ultimately in no way helpful to me. Westerburg was right when he wrote "Waitress in the Sky".
  4. His agent was right to advocate strongly for the name change.
  5. Or the Kintzler Special, Lizard on a Stick: http://thehappinessinhealth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/IMG_6307-300x224.jpg Gonna be huge at the 2027 Minnesota State Fair...
  6. It's after midnight. Like Eric Clapton, we're gonna let it all hang down.
  7. On a purely intellectual level I understand your argument, if not actually quite agreeing with it. On a more visceral one, speaking as someone who stayed up until midnight to see the Twins bullpen lose the game just seconds after you posted that, I briefly enjoyed imagining the satisfaction of kicking you in the junk. But I'm ok now, because Scotch.
  8. My heart said no, and my head called it Captain Obvious, which I thought was a little uncalled for, but understandable in light of their struggles.
  9. It's the Twins, so there has to be at least a little drama with a one run lead in the ninth.
  10. But did Bert acknowledge that he was with 5 teams after his first stint with the Twins?
  11. It's too far past bedtime for me to go chasing down his leverage score, but it would be useful to know if it reflects the fact that he's been the Twins' best reliever so far in 2017.
  12. Agreed, I think we know for certain now that he was right to go with that over the Elton John surgery.
  13. Good question, and I like your answer. With the Twins operating with a short bench for the foreseeable future, a utility infielder who can't play short is a luxury they can't afford, so it's a relatively short list of candidates if they want to promote from within. I see Goodrum's made a few putouts in CF at AA and at 2b in A+, and we know he can play 3b, so he's already got a head start on filling his utility bingo card.
  14. Since Sano already has one, maybe Dozier can Gallagher us an insurance home run....
  15. It's in close games like this that Escobar's versatility makes a bench with only the backup catcher and a DH/1b available in addition to him seem less than completely insane.
  16. We wouldn't want to start a run on bottled water, batteries, and Blue Mountain coffee.
  17. I could live with Spain freezing over. Well, Barcelona anyway.
  18. Mejia may have been fortunate that Heredia didn't have the green light on that 3-0 get-me-over serve to Heredia.
  19. And I think it's time that we also acknowledge the steady improvement Mauer has made over the years in his commercial voiceover work.
  20. That all depends on who the pitcher is...
  21. That bomb should be good for a few more All Star votes.
  22. "That's not bad for a quadruped!" I've praised our pug many times with those same words as she careens through our neighborhood behind the wheel of the Bombomobile.
  23. Fwiw, I don't think it's personal. It could just be that Seattle happened to be the team behind the wheel of the other car when the Twins' 17-7 road record collided with their -28 run differential.
