  1. We could lose 36 in a row.... and have the same record as last year.
  2. Absolutely. That's the question. Not many people would say that they expect our pitching to keep this up. HOWEVER. We don't need it to. If our pitching kept this up we'd win 95 games. And actually, if anything, I expect our hitting to improve. Sano and to a much lesser extent, Vargas and Grossman are the only three that most people would say have outperformed expectations. Our pitching can regress some and we could legitimately still expect to be a strong contender for a playoff spot.
  3. What are we being asked to believe in? That this team will play meaningful games in September? I believe That this team can make the playoffs? I'm close That this team can win the division? Shakier That this team can win the World Series? I'm not even close
  4. Pythag says we won 1.6 games!
  5. Well.... It DID happen earlier this year (according to Provus)
  6. I think I would normally agree with you, but I'd hate for the back end of our rotation to be the reason why we dropped out of it by July 1st. I'd be calling teams like the Padres, Marlins, and maybe the Blue Jays and see if they'd be willing to part with guys like Clayton Richard, Dan Straily, or Liriano (respectively). Those teams shouldn't be looking for much for those pitchers, but they help us not scrape the bottom of our AAA barrel to find 5th and spot starters.
  7. Agree. But there is far less "mailing it in" early
  8. I've always wondered if the Runs For/Against stat would be more meaningful if you took out, say, the 5 largest blowouts on both sides (good and bad). Twins are currently Minus-12 in blowout games Or another way to do it would be runs for/against in the first 7 innings.
  9. RE: Sano's high BABIP.... Over large numbers, it would be interesting to know what kind of correlation there is between batted ball exit velocity and BABIP.
  10. Hope they don't wear white hats for his next start
  11. The next go around the rotation, he could easily be skipped. Also, with rain in the forecast this week, it's possible we will not need a 5th starter on Saturday, although with Colorado in town for their only visit, you can be damn sure they will try to get those games in.
  12. Wilk is listed on ESPN, which obviously doesn't put it in stone, but it's a good indication. http://www.espn.com/mlb/team/schedule/_/name/min
  13. I'd argue he's 3rd or 4th most important reason we are where we are in the standings. Behind Ervin and Miguel, and close with Santiago
  14. Does Jose have options left? Not quite enough 0-1 counts
  15. [single tear] Great game Jose
  16. those were some quick innings
  17. Oooooh. That was a nasty 2-seamer
  18. Hey, guys, you might want to watch that pickoff move
  19. The change he threw in the second AB was nasty
  20. Berrios 7ip, 0r, 11K Or Buxton 4-4, 2HR
  21. Just want to be clear.... You used "JO" because it worked with 2.0, right? Not because we're calling him that now? I had just gotten used to Jose and pronouncing BEAR-e-ose correctly. I can't handle going back to "JO" because I'd probably fall back on "Burr-EE-ose"
  22. Ok... so who's our next #free_____ Burdi? #freeBurdi has a nice ring to it.
