  1. I agree that it's not perfect, but were moving the SLG not the OBP. Granted a double has more run-scoring potential than a single and a SB, however, at the same time, a single and a CS has significantly more run-scoring potential than a pop-out. I'd be interested to know how WAR treats SB (and CS). Just trying to represent a base-stealer's contributions better than a standard triple slash.
  2. His Effective OPS was 809 eSLG = (TB+SB-CS) / AB
  3. Malcolm Gladwell would be pleased.
  4. Strange that there was no mention of BYTO in the write up. Didn't most of the original visitor traffic come from there?
  5. Of course, when I commented I didn't know you were friends. It was the quotes around "source" that made wonder what was up.
  6. Jesus, people... drop it. Sometimes sources are right and sometimes they aren't. Bringing it up in the original article seemed unnecessary.
  7. I remember Turner, 6 months before the draft, was considered a cant miss, awesome talent, projected to go in the top couple picks. Given his position, perceived closeness to the majors, and his quality, I honed in on him as who I wanted. But it didn't look like he would drop to us. Then in the spring, he started to slip, and it was for what seemed like not great reasons. I'm not surprised he's ended up being a very good player and I still wish we would have stuck with the 6-months-out projection of him.
  8. That's a total "Thome is my Homie" shirt in the making. Team Joey: Silhouette of Bautista flipping a bat ("Bats" underneath) next to Silhouette of Mauer slapping a single to left ("Slaps" underneath) Parker would sell roughly 1,000,000 of those.
  9. If the Twins signed Bautisa, he might finally get over the hump and catch Mauer in career Target Field homeruns (Joey Bats 14 vs Joey Slaps 22) Trademark on Joey Slaps, by the way
  10. It's interesting with the "almost a hard cap" part of the new CBA, that seems like it helps the Twins in this negotiation. If before you had basically unlimited funds, but now your spending is being restricted to, say $250M, having a way above average guy at $8M, is a big deal because it might allow you to splurge somewhere else.
  11. Dick needs to stop mentioning how little Buxton has struck out since his recall. Did the same thing yesterday.
  12. Granite's "effective" OPS is up to 828. (adding SB minus CS to his slugging percentage)
  13. If they deemed 90 innings to be his limit this year, I wonder what their plan is for next year.... 120? Then, 2018.... 150?
  14. From: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20160825&content_id=197703456&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb Minnesota's sixth-ranked prospect allowed two hits and struck out nine over seven innings to lead Class A Advanced Fort Myers past Palm Beach, 1-0, on Thursday. After missing all of 2015, Romero will be shut down for the rest of the season after reaching his organization-imposed innings limit
  15. Polanco should have been more vocal about us challenging it.
  16. It should have been the correct alignment. Not sure why it wasn't. I tried to rotate it 90deg, it still looked funky, so I rotated it back, and it looked fine. Strange
  17. Clearly the beard is a push. They are almost identical.
