  1. Vargas is a passable major league LH hitter. Unfortunately for Kennys that is just about the last thing this teams needs.
  2. It's a moot point. $14M for Santana is a bargain. If the Twins were looking to deal Santana, his possible suitors would view that option year as a huge positive.
  3. Santana has a team option for the year after next. At $14M, that's an absolute lock to get picked up unless he just completely falls off a cliff. (Also, it would vest if he throws 200 innings next year or 400 combined between this year and next year) Basically.... unless we trade him, he's on this team for 2 more years after this one
  4. Gonsalves only has 23 AA starts. I'd hardly call that repeating, just because some came last year and some came this year.
  5. I'm a Buxton fan, don't get me wrong... but getting Archer would be pretty sweet
  6. Perhaps a more interesting question.... would you include Buxton as the main piece of an Archer trade?
  7. "Kintzler warming up for what he hopes is a save situation" Noooooooooo!!!! You say this like once a freaking week. Stop saying this, you dolt. He hopes the Twins score 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th and it's not a save situation.
  8. That's how you lose ballgames, folks.
  9. We are the most pathetic bunting team I have ever seen.
  10. ANOTHER failed sac bunt. We are 0-1000 this season
  11. I know we all have fun with the Pohlads/Money jokes, but were talking about $1M here. We aren't talking about signing a $100M free agent. If we can't pony up an extra million for a draft we are in the drivers seat of, then I don't know what the point of any of this is.
  12. That wasn't exactly my point. There were plenty of top 100 guys left on the board in Round 11. We had overnight to negotiate with them and I'm sure we had a pretty good idea of where we were at in terms of our cap. Just like with the Enlow pick. I expected a high school flyer at pick 11-1. See what you can save with some under slot guys, use the 700k (5%) extra and make an offer. Worst case, you lose your 11th round pick. Best case you get another top 100 guy. I'm not lamenting our draft. Still lots of signings to take place. We'll see where we land. My point was, if we don't bump up against $14.8M, we did something wrong.
  13. Falvey should've been planning on paying 15.39M for this draft class from the beginning. 14.86M in signings and 530k in penalties. Not doing so, with as large of a draft pool as we were given, is essentially like giving up a top 100 draft pick. It's only money. Money (at this scale, especially) should not be a deterrent.
  14. It's a little early for a Boundary Waters trip. Those lakes would be chilly!
  15. I assume that does NOT include the $700k they can go over without incurring a penalty? So they are really under the number that REALLY matters by about $1.8M
  16. Assuming we haven't, I wonder how many other teams haven't had one.
  17. Serious question... has a Minnesota Twin ever thrown 100mph in a game?
  18. Could you imagine if we had a TV guy that could intelligently talk about the juiced baseball issue?
  19. Someone needs to tweet that The Ringer "juiced baseball" article from last week to Dick Bremer
  20. Well.... he DID manage to walk Eddie Rosario
